Chapter 228: Teasing and Tension
Lily’s blush deepened, but she maintained her composure. "Yeah, that one," she replied, her tone casual, though her fingers fidgeted slightly with the hem of her blouse.
Zinnia glanced between the two of them again, her curiosity growing. "So, how exactly did you two et?" she asked, her tone light but probing.
Timmy opened his mouth to speak, but no words ca out. He stamred incoherently for a mont before Lily ca to his rescue.
"It was nothing major," Lily said quickly, giving Zinnia a reassuring smile. "We just happened to cross paths at the resort. Had a little chat, and that was it."
Timmy nodded rapidly, as if to agree. "Y-Yeah, that’s all. Just a chance eting," he managed to say, though his voice cracked slightly at the end.
Zinnia narrowed her eyes slightly, sensing there was more to the story, but decided not to press further—for now. Instead, she gave Lily a knowing smile. "Well, it’s a small world, I guess," she said lightly, though her tone carried a hint of playful suspicion.
"Definitely," Lily agreed, her voice steady, though she glanced briefly at Timmy, who looked like he was holding his breath.
Zinnia let the topic drop as the staff arrived to present so refreshnts, but she couldn’t help but steal a few more glances at her best friend and Samuel’s assistant. Sothing about their dynamic felt... interesting. Very interesting.
Samuel leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms casually as his eyes lingered on Timmy. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he recalled how strangely Timmy had behaved after returning from that particular vacation. Timmy, usually focused and professional, had seed unusually distracted—glued to his phone, smiling like a lovestruck fool every ti he received a ssage.
Now, watching Timmy fidget nervously under Zinnia’s and Lily’s gazes, the pieces began to fall into place. So, it’s her. Lily. Samuel’s smirk deepened, a glimr of amusent dancing in his eyes.
Timmy, on the other hand, was struggling to maintain his composure. He could feel the weight of their collective attention on him, especially Samuel’s knowing gaze, which only made him more jittery. His mind raced. What should I do? Should I say sothing? Or just keep quiet and hope they move on?
Before he could decide, Samuel leaned in slightly, his voice low and teasing as he addressed Timmy. "So, Timmy, care to share why you’ve been smiling at your phone so much lately? Seems like soone’s been keeping you pretty entertained."
Timmy’s eyes widened in panic, and his words tumbled out in a nervous stamr. "I-I don’t know what you’re talking about, sir. I’ve just been... uh... keeping up with work emails and updates!"
Samuel raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Work emails that make you smile like that? Interesting. Maybe I should start reading mine more carefully," he quipped, his tone laced with humor.
Lily, catching on, chuckled softly but decided to spare Timmy further embarrassnt. "Co on, Samuel, don’t tease him too much. Not everyone can multitask work and personal life as effortlessly as you."
Zinnia, anwhile, was watching the exchange with growing amusent. She glanced at Timmy, then back at Lily, and smirked knowingly. "Well, I think it’s nice. Everyone deserves a little happiness, right, Timmy?"
Timmy nodded quickly, his face now beet red. "Y-Yes, absolutely! Happiness is important," he said, though his voice was almost a squeak.
Before the teasing could escalate further, the boutique staff entered the room with an air of professionalism, breaking the mont.
"Miss Lopez," one of them addressed Zinnia with a warm smile. "Would you like to try on your wedding dress now? This way, we can ensure any adjustnts are made in ti for the big day. Mr. Lucas, we also have your suit ready for a fitting."
Zinnia brightened at the suggestion, grateful for the distraction. "Oh, yes! Let’s do it," she said enthusiastically, standing up and smoothing down her blouse. She turned to Samuel, her excitent evident. "Ready to see how dashing you’ll look in your suit?"
Samuel stood as well, his smirk softening into a genuine smile. "Only if I get to see you in your dress first," he replied, his voice filled with warmth.
As the staff guided them toward the fitting rooms, Timmy let out a small sigh of relief, silently thanking the universe for the tily intervention. But as he glanced up, he caught Samuel’s knowing smirk once more. Great, just great. He could only hope the focus would stay on the wedding preparations—and not on him—for the rest of the day..
As Zinnia and Samuel disappeared behind the fitting room doors, the boutique beca quieter, save for the occasional hum of staff preparing accessories and adjustnts. Timmy and Lily were left sitting on the plush sofas near the fitting area, their initial awkwardness settling into a sowhat comfortable silence.
Timmy tapped his fingers nervously on his knees, his eyes darting toward the fitting rooms and then back to his lap. He avoided looking directly at Lily, though he was acutely aware of her presence beside him.
Lily noticed his discomfort and tilted her head slightly, a soft smile playing on her lips. "Timmy," she said gently, leaning closer to catch his attention.
He turned to her, startled. "Y-Yes?"
"Relax," she said with a chuckle, her tone light and teasing. "You look like you’re sitting on a ticking ti bomb."
Timmy managed a sheepish grin, scratching the back of his head. "I guess I’m just... a little on edge. I an, it’s not every day you find yourself in this kind of situation."
Lily raised an eyebrow playfully. "What kind of situation? Sitting in a fancy boutique while your boss tries on a wedding suit? Or sitting next to ?"
Timmy’s cheeks flushed instantly, and he stamred, "W-Well, uh... both, I suppose."
Lily laughed softly, finding his nervousness endearing. She decided to put him at ease. "So," she began, shifting the conversation, "where are we going after this? You did say you’d take
to explore the city, didn’t you?"
