Jessica’s POV

"I have classes, Max!" frustration coursed through .

"I do too," he replied. "Missing one class won’t make you fail." His gaze turned to , with his lips curled into a smile, "I could be your tutor if you want."

"Hell no!" I glared at him and he chuckled as his car shot out of the school and into the roads.

"Where are you taking ?" I asked after a few minutes.

"Actually, I don’t know. Maybe a beach? A restaurant...? Where do you want to go?" He turned to look at .

I was stunned. The nerve of this man! "To the hospital."

He frowned, "Why? Are you sick?"

"No. I want to have your brains checked!" I scread. How could he not have a destination, yet dragged out of the school?! I should be in class, learning!

He let out a boisterous laughter, our hair dancing in the wind. I glared at him, not seeing anything funny in the situation. How could he laugh when I was so angry and frustrated? Didn’t he understand that he had just disrupted my entire day? I crossed my arms, scowling at him.

"This isn’t funny, Max. Take back to school right now."

But he just chuckled again, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Oh, Jessica. You’re so adorable when you’re angry."

I felt my face heat up with indignation. Adorable? Was he kidding ? I was furious!

"Fine, I’ll take you to a restaurant. It’s morning, I could tell you haven’t eaten."

I glared at him. How could he tell I haven’t eaten? I ate a slice of toast and sipped from Hilda’s coffee before leaving ho. It was still too early for to eat.

"I’m not hungry, I already ate," I said.

"Perhaps, you had tea, coffee, toast, sandwich...sothing light. That’s not exactly food."

I rolled my eyes and stopped engaging him, and turned to gaze at the city, feeling the wind whipping through my hair as we drove.

Max didn’t seem to mind my silence, whistling a tune as he drove. I couldn’t help but steal glances at him. This guy was hot, good-looking, and infuriating Lu charming. I wish he wasn’t any of those. I wished he was soone I could blatantly turn away without feeling an ache in my chest.

The car pulled to a stop at a luxurious restaurant. The door man stepped forward, opening the car door for with a courteous smile. "Welco to Chez Pierre, mademoiselle," he said, offering a hand out of the car. I took it, feeling a bit awkward as I stepped out onto the sidewalk.

Max was already out of the car, standing beside and gazing at with an expectant expression. "Shall we?" he asked, gesturing towards the restaurant entrance.

I hesitated, feeling a bit uncertain. I hadn’t exactly dressed for fine dining, nor did he. And I wasn’t sure I wanted to go inside with Max.

But he seed to sense my hesitation, and his eyes narrowed slightly. "You’re not going to make a scene, are you?" he asked, his voice low and warning. "I didn’t bring you all the way here for you to turn down. I can easily carry you in, in a bridal style. And trust , my lips will certainly claim yours in front of everyone,"

Max continued, his eyes glinting with amusent. I felt a shiver run down my spine as he took a step closer to , his voice dropping to a whisper. "So, what’s it going to be? Are you going to walk in with like a civilized person, or do we need to do this the hard way?"

I swallowed hard, my heart racing. I didn’t like being threatened, but there was sothing about Max’s confident deanor that made hesitate. I glanced around, noticing the curious glances from passersby. I didn’t want to make a scene, but I also didn’t want to give in to Max’s demands. I took a deep breath and stood up straight, trying to match Max’s confident tone.

"I’ll walk in with you," I said, trying to sound calm. "But don’t think this ans I’m going to enjoy myself."

Max’s face broke into a wide smile, and he offered his arm. "I wouldn’t have it any other way," he said, leading towards the restaurant entrance.

"Where do you want to dine? A private room, perhaps?... Or would you prefer to dine among the common folk?" He gestured towards the bustling main dining area, where the sound of laughter and clinking glasses filled the air.

I raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit irritated by his teasing tone. "I prefer to dine he–"

"Dining with the common folks ans that your picture would be everywhere before noon. Guess what the headlines would be:

"Billionaire’s Son Spotted with Mysterious Woman" or "Max Wells ’ New Romance Heats Up"? or "The End of Max and Celine’s Romance".

I could almost see the tabloid headlines flashing in my mind. I shot Max a sideways glance, wondering if he was serious about the dia attention. He seed to sense my gaze and turned to , his eyes glinting with amusent.

"You have no idea how much attention I attract, do you?" he asked, his voice low and husky.

I shook my head, feeling a bit overwheld by the prospect of being thrust into the spotlight.

"Then, a private room, it is. But be careful not to get kissed," he said, chuckling as I gave him a death stare.

"Don’t even think about it," I hissed.

But Max laughed even harder, his eyes sparkling with amusent. "Oh, I’m shaking in my boots."

A lady ca to us and bowed, then led us to a private room. Another waiter brought in two plates of appetizers, while the first lady took our order and left.

This was ridiculous. Everything was.

"Yesterday," he began, drawing my attention, as he dipped a chop into ketchup. "Celine wasn’t responsible for that."
