Jenna Axton wasn’t feeling well, so she couldn’t join them for dinner with the Frost Family.
Only Julian Fairchild, Luna Axton, and Blaze Fairchild set out together.
It was Blaze who had invited the Frost Family to dinner.
However, not long after the three of them had arrived at the private room and sat down,
the entire Frost Family arrived all at once.
"Frost, my old friend! It’s been too long!"
Having not seen his dear friend for many years, Julian Fairchild excitedly pulled Theodore Frost into a tight hug.
When they didn’t see each other, the days just passed one after another, and they never felt how quickly ti was flying.
But now, seeing each other’s graying hair, slowed movents, and the canes in their hands,
they finally realized they were no longer young.
"We’re old, old," Theodore Frost lanted.
"Of course we’re old. I’m about to have a great-grandchild," Julian Fairchild said, steering the conversation away from lancholy topics and toward sothing happier.
"Speaking of Luna, she’s only twenty-two. Your family sure moved fast," Theodore Frost remarked. He very much hoped Luna would continue down the path of dicine.
"Heh heh~" A proud smile lifted Julian Fairchild’s lips. "I’ve always been a step ahead of you."
The two had known each other since childhood. Julian Fairchild was free-spirited and unrestrained, while Theodore Frost was modest and courteous.
They were not only good friends but also the "outstanding boys" their parents always spoke of.
"Luna..."
Luna Axton had been sitting beside Blaze Fairchild, listening as he asked about everyone’s preferences before carefully ordering dishes to suit each person’s taste.
Ordering food was an art in itself, and she was studying it intently.
When she suddenly heard Academician Frost call her na, she imdiately stood up.
A smile graced Luna Axton’s features. "Grandpa Frost, what is it?"
The etiquette etched into her very being left Theodore Frost deeply satisfied.
’What kind of family,’ he thought, ’could raise a child with such impeccable manners?’
"Sit, sit." Theodore Frost waved his hand repeatedly, his smile gentle. "I just wanted to tell you not to cast aside your love for dicine after you get married and have your child."
During the ti he had spent with Luna Axton, Theodore Frost had grown fonder and fonder of the young woman.
Naturally, he hoped her path in life would grow ever longer and broader.
"Blaze, after the baby is born, with your Fairchild Family’s resources, Luna shouldn’t have to worry too much. Once she gives birth, you can’t just coop her up at ho."
Blaze Fairchild had just finished ordering when he heard Theodore Frost’s words. He imdiately stated his position.
"Grandpa Frost, Luna is indeed still young, and she’s still in school. I’ve already planned everything. After Lucky is born, we’ll have a nanny to take care of the baby. Luna will definitely prioritize her studies."
Luna Axton bit her lip as a sour feeling bubbled up inside her.
’So that’s what Blaze had planned.’
’After the baby is born, he’s just going to hand them over to a nanny.’
’I’m the one giving birth to this baby; I can’t just ignore them.’
’Aside from classes and my internship, I have to spend as much ti as possible with my baby.’
’I only wanted to give up on Lucky before because of money.’
’Now that Blaze has solved the money problem, I can balance the baby and my studies.’
’I will absolutely not allow Lucky to grow up in an environnt where their father doesn’t love them and their mother doesn’t care.’
As Blaze Fairchild spoke, his gaze occasionally shifted to Luna Axton beside him.
’She’s soone who loves studying so much, she even reads dical books before bed. I definitely can’t hold her back.’
"Besides, if I tried to keep Luna cooped up at ho, Luna’s Mom wouldn’t agree either."
"Speaking of Luna’s Mom, where is she? Did she go to the restroom?" Mason Frost asked after looking around and not seeing her.
Just last night, Mason Frost had been telling May Ford that he’d finally get to et soone whose na sounded like "Adriana," and he wondered what her personality was like.
But looking at Luna, he knew her parents must also be well-read, sensible, wise, and full of life.
Julian Fairchild’s heart skipped a beat. He imdiately picked up the warm water in front of him and took a sip, effectively blocking his throat so he couldn’t respond.
Luna Axton wore a guilty expression as she explained,
"My mother was just talking to yesterday about what to wear today. She wanted to thank Grandpa Frost, Mr. Frost, Mrs. Ford, and Ethan in person, but she was looking at her phone last night and didn’t stay warm enough. She ca down with a fever this morning."
"Ooh~" The ntion of illness animated Mason Frost. He asked with concern,
"Did she see a doctor? Has she taken any dicine?"
"She’s very careful with her body and didn’t want to see a doctor. She said the dicine works fast but has strong side effects. She just took two packets of cold and flu powder, drank so brown sugar and ginger tea, and felt much better after breaking a sweat."
Luna Axton reported her mother’s condition truthfully, not wanting to worry everyone.
"I checked her pulse. It was just symptoms of a common cold from the wind and chill. Nothing else was abnormal."
"That’s good, that’s good. I was still curious what your mother looks like. I wonder if she’s like my little sister..."
In the middle of his sentence, Mason Frost suddenly let out a "HISS~" and stopped talking.
May Ford imdiately grabbed a napkin to wipe the water from his pants. "Oh, I’m so sorry. My hand slipped and the hot water from my cup spilled."
Mason Frost just smiled, saying, "It’s fine, it’s fine."
Ignoring his wet pants, he continued,
"My little sister was also nad Adriana. She absolutely adored Blaze. After he was born, she had to go and hold him every single day. It’s just that after Susie passed away, my little sister disappeared too."
"COUGH COUGH COUGH COUGH COUGH~"
Before Luna Axton could even process this information, her attention was drawn elsewhere.
Julian Fairchild had suddenly broken into a violent coughing fit, his face turning beet red.
Blaze Fairchild was sitting next to Julian, and he got up to pat his grandfather’s back to help him catch his breath.
"You’re really sothing else, Grandpa. Choking on tea, of all things."
Once Julian Fairchild recovered, he retorted indignantly, "Hey! I’m old! Isn’t that allowed?"
Blaze teased him, "It’s allowed, it’s allowed. Who would dare tell you it isn’t?"
Julian Fairchild raised an eyebrow. "Luna can say no to ."
"Alright, alright. She’s your favorite, more precious than your own grandson."
"Of course." Julian Fairchild lifted his chin, looking quite proud.
"Luna is way more thoughtful than you. She intentionally loses to in chess to make happy. She prepares herbal soaks for my feet, praises my calligraphy, and even found a ho for my brushes. You..."
Julian Fairchild’s gaze swept over Blaze from top to bottom, his tone filled with disdain. "You only know how to give money."
"Yes, yes. Your granddaughter-in-law is the best, the most considerate one to an old man like you."
And with that, the topic of the Frost family’s young lady was swept aside by the grandson and grandfather’s bickering.
Julian Fairchild’s complexion had improved. He spoke up, asking, "Russell, are you still going back to Kamaria?"
Russell Frost, who had been silent the whole ti, was addressed. He brought his hands up from under the table.
"Kai from the Jacobs family got into trouble, and Miles was implicated. They’re short-staffed, so my own assignnt is up in the air."
Originally, he had planned to resign and return to the country to care for his father in his old age.
But after the Jacobs family’s incident, no one had spoken to him about specific work arrangents yet.
At the ntion of the Jacobs family’s affairs, the atmosphere suddenly grew quiet.
Russell Frost assud Julian Fairchild was trying to inquire about his son-in-law, Miles Jacobs’s, future prospects, which was why he had revealed that Miles was implicated.
But seeing the current atmosphere, it was clear he had misread the intention.
"Rosalind did sothing wrong, and I’m not playing favorites. As for Kai’s matter, he’s the one who went down the wrong path. Whatever needs to be done will be done. I’m not the type to shield my own family."
The mont Julian Fairchild said this, everyone’s shoulders relaxed, and they let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Everyone present, except for the three from Blaze Fairchild’s generation, had seen with their own eyes how much Julian Fairchild used to dote on Rosalind Fairchild.
For Julian Fairchild to be able to say such words now indicated that he was already aware of certain things.
"Fairchild, Blaze can already stand on his own two feet. Let the younger generation handle their own affairs. Kai isn’t a Fairchild anyway, so you don’t need to worry so much."
As brothers who had grown up together and were now old, having married and had children around the sa age, Theodore Frost knew how hard his friend Julian Fairchild’s life had been.
Now, the only one by his side was his grandson, Blaze.
Rosalind Fairchild was not a daughter who gave him peace of mind; there was truly no need to clean up her sses anymore.
Theodore Frost grasped Julian Fairchild’s hand and urged him, "You just focus on taking good care of yourself. Exercise more when you have ti. That way, you’ll have the strength to hold Lucky when they’re born."
Julian Fairchild’s eyes reddened as he listened. "I’ll listen to you, I’ll listen to you."
Growth, aging, and death are the natural course of life, but one always hopes to see the younger generations thrive before they can leave this world with peace of mind.
’Only if Blaze is well, and Evergrow Group is well, can I depart in peace.’
While they were chatting, the waiters began serving the dishes one by one. Everyone picked up their chopsticks and continued to talk as they ate.
