Luna Axton saw Jenna Axton as soon as she reached the bottom of the inpatient building.
She was wearing a creamy gray wool coat, with a blanket Mrs. Creed had bought covering her legs. She wore a matching bucket hat and was sitting in a wheelchair.
She and the bare trees behind her were bathed in the sunlight, and ti seed to flow quietly with the breeze.
Luna Axton firmly believed the saying, "True beauty is never defeated by ti."
The sickly, sallow tint had faded, and her mother’s face was fair once more.
Her mother now possessed a calm elegance that had settled with age.
’The beauty Mom radiates from the inside out is sothing I could never cultivate in a lifeti,’ Luna Axton thought.
Her mother saw her and smiled.
Her mother was always like this. No matter when, the mont she saw her, her face would light up with a doting, loving smile.
Luna Axton reached her side in a few steps. "Mom."
Seeing her daughter’s happy expression, Jenna Axton’s smile grew even wider.
Her darling girl was slowly regaining her forr cheerfulness.
Jenna Axton folded the small blanket from her lap into a square, placed it on a nearby chair, and gestured to Luna Axton. "Darling, sit here."
"How was the prenatal checkup today?"
"Lucky and I are both doing great." Luna Axton pulled out a video she had recorded during the checkup to show her mother.
The doctor was explaining as she dragged a small cursor across the screen, circling parts of the image.
"This is the baby’s head, body, and limbs."
"He’s even blowing little bubbles."
"Long legs, very active and energetic."
"Let’s see here... the asurents are quite good. He’s asuring two weeks larger than his gestational age. The baby is growing very healthily, so Mom and Dad can rest assured."
Luna Axton could even hear the happiness in the doctor’s voice.
Blaze Fairchild had also been in the examination room at the ti. She didn’t know how he felt.
She had been so focused on recording the video that she hadn’t looked at Blaze Fairchild.
’He... he was probably happy, right?’
"That’s wonderful." Jenna Axton smiled in relief, her eyes reddening with happiness.
"Mom~" Luna Axton hugged Jenna Axton’s shoulders coquettishly. "That’s why I said the baby is my Lucky Star."
"Yes, yes, you’re right. And the fact that I can co downstairs and move around like this today is also thanks to my darling girl’s hard work."
Jenna Axton patted Luna Axton’s arm. She was very content with her life now.
"Mom, you’re getting discharged soon. I’ve thought of two options. One, we rent an apartnt and live together, just the two of us. Two, we live at the Fairchild Estate. Grandpa Fairchild and Mr. Fairchild have both agreed. Which do you think we should choose?"
Jenna Axton was delighted. The flower she had nurtured with love for 22 years had blossod into sothing beautiful and heart-warming.
"Darling, during my illness, every ti I was brought back from the brink, all I wanted was to live one more day, to spend one more day with my baby girl."
Jenna Axton caressed Luna Axton’s face. It had filled out a little, soft to the touch, and her heart softened along with it.
"Wherever my darling is, that’s where I’ll be. No matter what happens in the future, I just want to be with you."
Luna Axton’s lips trembled, and tears stread down her face. She nodded emphatically. "Mhm, we’ll always be together."
"The fact that my illness could be treated to this extent is because Blaze put in a lot of effort. I need to thank him properly."
"Okay, I’ll listen to you, Mom."
Although she and Blaze Fairchild had a flash marriage because of the baby, and they had a prenuptial agreent.
But her mother was right. When it ca to her mother’s treatnt, Blaze Fairchild’s contribution had been indispensable.
"I’ll ask Mrs. Creed to get a room ready as soon as I get back."
"Alright."
Jenna Axton knew that Susie’s departure had been a huge blow to Blaze Fairchild.
Blaze Fairchild’s current restrictions on Luna all stemd from his Heart Demon. She hoped Luna could help him release so of that internal pressure.
The servant, Grant, who had gone to retrieve a thermos, saw that the Young Madam had already arrived. He and Caleb stood at a distance, not wanting to interrupt.
The bond between the Young Madam and her mother was truly touching.
Life gradually fell into a routine. Luna Axton went to class every day and left right after school.
She wore loose clothing, so even though her body was changing, her classmates hadn’t noticed. For the ti being, there were no complications.
「Pinehurst Estate.」
At so point, the once-silent dinner table had beco a place of conversation.
Only after Blaze Fairchild and Grandpa Fairchild finished discussing work matters did Luna Axton speak up.
"Grandpa, Mr. Fairchild, I asked my mother today. She’s agreed to co live at the Fairchild Estate after she’s discharged."
Having spent so much ti with Grandpa Fairchild, she knew that his initial offer for her mother to live at the Fairchild Estate wasn’t just a polite gesture. He genuinely wanted the estate to be a bit livelier.
Grandpa Fairchild thought for a mont and said, "Have her stay in Crimson Hall. It’s close to your Lakeside Manor, gets plenty of sunlight, and the environnt is quiet. It’s perfect for recuperating."
Luna Axton didn’t respond imdiately, habitually waiting for Blaze Fairchild to state his position.
"Have Uncle Foster and Mrs. Creed get it ready in the next couple of days and air it out."
Only after Blaze Fairchild spoke did she accept. "Thank you, Grandpa. Thank you, Mr. Fairchild."
Julian Fairchild couldn’t cherish such a polite child enough; how could he let her thank him for every little thing?
"It’s Grandpa who should be thanking you. The little baby is growing so well, and you endured such terrible morning sickness. You’ve worked hard. As long as you’re happy, you can do whatever you want in this Fairchild Estate."
Julian Fairchild paused, put down his chopsticks, and his gaze fell on Blaze Fairchild.
"The baby is so healthy, shouldn’t you be able to relax now? Luna is still in school. Those extra classes... they’re probably not necessary anymore, are they?"
Luna Axton hadn’t expected Grandpa to suddenly bring this up and felt a surge of panic.
She was afraid Blaze Fairchild would misunderstand and think she had asked Grandpa to intervene, thus breaking their agreent.
She wanted to explain, but she was also afraid of saying the wrong thing and dismissing Grandpa Fairchild’s good intentions.
Caught in this dilemma, she was startled when Blaze Fairchild suddenly looked over.
Their eyes t. His were deep, filled with an emotion she couldn’t comprehend.
Luna Axton didn’t dare to look at him directly, pretending to pick up so food with her chopsticks as she averted her gaze.
Blaze Fairchild’s unhurried voice drifted over. "She does need more ti to rest. I’ll inform Dr. Miller that from now on, I will be the one attending the postpartum child care classes."
The dining room fell silent.
Luna Axton stared at Blaze Fairchild in disbelief, her chopsticks tightening in her hand.
A little baby lying on a changing table, while multi-billionaire CEO Blaze Fairchild held a diaper, ready to change it.
The image that popped into her head was truly bizarre.
Julian Fairchild reached out and patted Luna Axton’s arm, asking her, "That... that is my grandson, right?"
This version of Blaze Fairchild was indeed very un-Blaze-Fairchild-like.
Luna Axton looked at the man with the placid expression and forced a smile to reassure Grandpa. "He should be... I think."
Neither of them understood what Blaze Fairchild was trying to do. Julian Fairchild gestured with his eyes, prompting her to say sothing.
’Say sothing? I don’t know what to say!’
Luna Axton braced herself and spoke up. "Mr. Fairchild, a nanny can handle the baby’s care. You’re busy with work, you don’t have to do everything yourself. I’ll also help take care of Luc... the baby."
Blaze Fairchild replied, "I may not do it myself, but I need to know how."
’Uh... okay then. The child is very important.’
Hearing this, Julian Fairchild sat up straighter and praised him, "Very good, very good. You should take more care of the family and focus less on work. I’ve noticed you haven’t been working overti since you married Luna. You’re doing a great job."
"Once Luna’s mother moves in, she’ll have soone else to keep her company, so you shouldn’t feel too much pressure either. What happened with your mother back then... it’s true your father was too busy with work. No one wanted her to develop depression during her pregnancy and end up like that."
This was the first ti Luna Axton had heard Grandpa Fairchild talk about other mbers of the Fairchild Family. Seeing the man across from her with a dark expression, his black eyes filled with pain, she lowered her head and listened quietly.
"Thankfully, your mother’s friend, the young lady from the Frost Family, often ca over to keep her company and play with you. That was so comfort. It’s been 23 years. You have your own ho now, a wife, a child. It’s ti to look forward."
"Miss Frost?" The mories from his childhood were a bit fuzzy for Blaze Fairchild.
He did rember one of his mother’s friends often ca to play with him.
But after his mother passed away, he never saw that person again and gradually forgot about her.
"Yes. Co to think of it, she’s been gone for 23 years too. Her na was sothing like..."
Julian Fairchild had also forgotten so of the details. He only rembered she was the most beloved youngest daughter of the Frost Family.
"She used to follow her second older brother to our house to hang out with your father, and later she beca good friends with your mother."
Julian Fairchild’s eyes suddenly lit up as he rembered. "Her na was Adriana. Yes, Adriana. Adriana Frost."
