Elias blinked, then laughed lightly, the sound easy and without judgnt. "It’s fine. Sauce is sauce... It’s no big deal." He continued eating like nothing had happened, grabbing another piece from the bag. "Oh! I forgot to ask... want so? There’s plenty here. Don’t make eat it all alone."

Jace shook his head, still recovering from the embarrassnt, his heart racing from the brief touch. "Nah, I bought it all for you. Eat up. I’m good."

Elias shrugged, taking another bite. "Suit yourself. But if you change your mind, help yourself." He finished the piece, wiping his hands clean. "Thanks again. This really hits the spot after the crazy day."

Jace nodded, curious now. "Crazy day? What happened?"

Elias stood up, heading to the attached bathroom to brush his teeth, talking over his shoulder. "Long story. The Corleone head ca by... Marco Corleone himself. He said I saved his life or sothing. And then Lila drops this bomb about finding my real parents in front of him."

Jace’s eyes widened as he followed to the doorway, leaning against the fra. "Corleone? Like, the family? And real parents... what does that an?"

Elias squeezed toothpaste onto his brush, running it under the water. "Yeah, the main family. I donated blood to him yesterday when he collapsed. And the parents thing... Lila thinks my real parents are out there sowhere, and maybe they didn’t abandon as I’d thought. It’s ssing with my head."

Jace whistled low. "That’s heavy. Are you okay?"

Elias started brushing, speaking around the foam. "I don’t know. Never thought about it before. I don’t really want to et people who left ."

Jace nodded understandingly. "Makes sense. But if Lila’s pushing it, maybe there’s more to it."

Elias rinsed his mouth, spitting into the sink. "Maybe. But right now, I just want to forget. So, you wanna co down with ? It’s getting late... I’ll make dinner for everyone."

Jace stood quickly, his heart racing again at the invitation to stay longer.

"Yeah, sure. But wait..." He stopped Elias before he could leave the bathroom, his voice turning hesitant. "Can I ask sothing first?"

Elias turned back, drying his hands on a towel. "Shoot. What’s up?"

Jace took a breath, gently taking Elias’s hand in his, looking down at it before eting his eyes. The touch felt electric, stirring those buried feelings even more. "Is there... anything between you and Viktor? Like, serious stuff?"

Elias tilted his head, considering the question with a slight frown. "I’m not sure what kind of answer you’re looking for here. Why do you ask?"

Jace ran his free hand through his hair, frustrated with himself for bringing it up but unable to stop now.

"I thought I’d given up. On you, I an. On us, or whatever it was. But coming here today, seeing you... Everything ca back. The feelings I buried... they’re not gone. I tried to move on, I swear, but it’s hard."

Elias looked at their joined hands for a mont, then back at Jace’s face, his expression kind but firm, with a touch of sympathy. "Jace, I get it. Feelings don’t just vanish overnight. It’s okay to feel that way. But you’ll find soone better... soone with a high match rate, the whole package. You deserve that."

Jace wanted to argue, to ask more... why Viktor? What did he have that Jace didn’t? Was it the alpha thing? The power? A much better Pheromones? But the words stuck in his throat. He swallowed them down, forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. "Yeah... maybe you’re right."

Elias squeezed his hand once, a friendly gesture, before letting go. "Co on. Are you going to help with dinner? Ethan’s probably stuck talking war stuff with Viktor in his office. We can catch up more while we cook."

Jace nodded, following him out of the room. "I’ll help. At least I can do that after showing up unannounced."

They headed down the stairs, the sll of the chicken still lingering on their clothes. Jace hoped these thirty minutes... or whatever ti he had left... would be enough to say what he needed, even if it didn’t change anything.

anwhile, at the Corleone house, Marco sat at the long dining table for the first ti in weeks, enjoying a proper al. The spread was simple but satisfying: roast at, stead vegetables, and fresh bread baked that afternoon. He ate slowly, savouring each bite after days of lighter, bland porridge. The dining room was grand, as usual, but tonight it felt peaceful. The visit to the safe house had lifted his spirits more than he expected... Elias’s kindness, the lively kids, even Drago’s family had a warmth his own estate lacked these days.

Valentina entered the room, her steps soft on the polished floor. She greeted him with a respectful nod. "Father, welco back. You look well."

Marco nodded, continuing to chew his at without pausing. Valentina hesitated at the end of the table, twisting her hands. Then she pleaded, her voice soft but urgent. "Please... take the girls out of the cell. It’s not right for them to be there. I’m sure they’ve learned their lesson."

Marco pretended not to hear, turning to the maid nearby. "More at, please. This is excellent. I should give the chef a raise."

Valentina stood there for ten minutes as he finished his plate, her face growing more desperate. She begged again, stepping closer. "Father, release them. It’s unsuitable for young ladies like them."

Marco yawned widely, setting his napkin down. "Is my bath ready? I need to sleep early... since I’ll be heading out tomorrow morning."

The maid nodded quickly. "Yes, sir. Everything’s prepared."

As he rose from the table, using his walking stick for support, Valentina blocked his path. "Release the girls! Please!"

Marco glared down at her, his eyes cold. "Move. They’ll spend two days there with no bail. When they return tomorrow, their punishnt will be over."

She knelt in front of him, clutching his sleeve. "The rest of the family mbers will be coming tomorrow... they’ll hear about this! The sha..."

Marco shook her off gently but firmly. "Good. Let them hear." He stepped around her, walking away with asured steps, his stick tapping on the floor.

Valentina watched him leave, standing up slowly. She wiped the tears from her cheeks, groaning in frustration.

"If not for all those guards..." She grabbed her phone from her pocket, dialling a number with shaking fingers. "Where the hell is that bastard when his daughters are in prison?"
