The three of them... Viktor, Vera, and Vale... imdiately rushed to Lila before she could break down or start crying. The kitchen floor was now a ss of shattered glass and spilt water. Viktor got there first, kneeling down in front of her with surprising gentleness for a man his size. His face softened, concern etching lines around his eyes as he placed his hands on her small shoulders. "Lila, hey... look at . Elias isn’t going to die. Okay? No one’s hurting him. You don’t need to cry."

Lila frowned, her lower lip trembling for a second before she folded her arms across her chest, trying to look tough. Her eyes were wide and shiny, but she blinked hard, refusing to let tears fall.

"Why are you telling not to cry? I’m eleven... I’m not a kid anymore. I can handle adult stuff."

Viktor let out a small, relieved chuckle, though it didn’t reach his eyes. He stayed kneeling, eting her gaze at her level. "I know you’re tough, Lila. You’re tougher than most adults I know. But this... It’s talk. Nothing’s happening to your brother. I promise."

She shifted her weight, still frowning but clearly calming a bit from his words. Vera and Vale hovered behind Viktor, exchanging worried glances. Vera stepped forward, her voice soft. "Lila, sweetie, co here. Let’s clean this up before soone steps on it."

Lila ignored the offer for a hug at first, turning to Vera instead. "What... what’s going to happen to my brother? You said the Corleones are looking for him. Are they bad people?"

Vera knelt down too, brushing a strand of hair from Lila’s face. She glanced at Vale for support, then back at Lila.

"We’re not sure yet, okay? But Elias didn’t do anything wrong. He helped soone today... really important person. If they’re looking for him, it might be to say thank you or sothing. Not to hurt him."

Lila’s eyes narrowed, not fully convinced.

"But Aunty Vale said they might kill him. I heard it."

Vale winced, kneeling as well. "Ha. I was just worried, Lila. Sotis grown-ups say things when they’re scared. But Viktor’s right... No one’s touching Elias. We’ll make sure of it."

Lila unfolded her arms slowly, her tough act cracking a little as she looked between them.

"You promise? You have to save him if they try anything. He’s all I have left. Please..."

Vera pulled her into a gentle hug, and this ti Lila didn’t resist.

"We promise. Your brother’s safe here with us. Now, let’s get you a new glass of water and back to bed. It’s way past your bedti."

Vale joined the hug, rubbing Lila’s back. "Yeah, and tomorrow we’ll do sothing fun. Maybe bake cookies or watch that movie you like."

Lila nodded against Vera’s shoulder, her voice muffled. "Okay... but if anything happens, you tell . I’m not a baby."

Viktor stood up, watching the scene with a mix of relief and guilt. He grabbed a broom from the corner and started sweeping up the glass carefully.

"Deal, Lila. Now go on... get that water and sleep."

Lila pulled back, grabbing a fresh jug from the counter. She gave Viktor a quick glance and headed upstairs.

Viktor heaved a deep breath of relief as she left, dumping the glass shards into the trash. "That was close. I’m a hundred per cent sure Lila doesn’t like one bit."

Vera stood up, brushing off her pants.

"Can you bla her? You’re always so serious around her. But yeah, we agree... she’s got this aura. Like Elias’s little guardian."

Vale nodded, leaning against the counter. "Totally. We’re just glad she listened. I thought she’d start crying or yelling. That girl’s got spine."

Viktor smirked faintly, crossing his arms. "She sure does work hard at it. Reminds of soone." He glanced upward, toward where Elias’s room was. "Anyway, back to the Corleones. You two stay alert tomorrow. If they show up, let handle it."

The sisters nodded, the tension easing a little as they said goodnight and headed to bed. Viktor lingered in the kitchen for a mont, staring at the now-clean floor. "Corleones wanting Elias... this can’t be good," he muttered to himself before turning off the light and going upstairs.

The next morning, at the Corleone house, Bianca was in her elent, holding her phone up for her daily live video. It had beco a routine since returning to the family ho: wake up, freshen up, and stream her "glamorous" morning to her followers.

"Good morning, everyone! It’s another beautiful day in paradise. Let’s start with brushing... see this electric toothbrush? Top of the line."

She chatted away as she walked downstairs, showing off the grand staircase and the foyer with its fresh flowers. "And now, the best part... breakfast! You guys are gonna love what’s on the nu today." Her voice was bubbly, her makeup flawless even at this early hour.

Entering the dining hall, she panned the cara over the long table, expecting the usual spread: fresh pastries, fruits, eggs, and coffee arranged perfectly by the staff. But it was empty. Completely bare, not even a napkin out of place. Sofia sat at one end, scrolling on her phone, looking bored.

Bianca cleared her throat, forcing a smile for the cara.

"Uh, looks like breakfast is running a little late today, guys! But while we wait, let introduce my amazing sister, Sofia!" She swung the phone toward Sofia, who barely looked up but waved half-heartedly and blew a kiss. "Say hi, sis!"

Sofia glanced at the screen. "Hey, everyone. Love you all." Then back to her phone.

Bianca sat down opposite her, keeping the cara on. "So, Sofia, where’s breakfast? The chefs must be slacking today, huh?"

Sofia shrugged without looking up. "I’ve been waiting too. Nothing yet."

Bianca laughed awkwardly, reading the comnts scrolling in. "Haha, yeah, the chefs probably overslept. No big deal—gives us ti to chat! What do you guys want to see next?" But ten minutes passed, and the comnts shifted. "When’s breakfast?" "Show the food!" "Is this a prank?"

Bianca’s smile strained. "Okay, guy. Since the chefs won’t bring our al, let’s go to them instead. I’m excited to show you the kitchen! It’s always buzzing in the morning with everyone working. Co on!" She stood, walking toward the kitchen doors, Sofia trailing behind curiously.

Pushing open the doors, Bianca froze. The kitchen was spotless... counters gleaming, appliances shining, but empty. No chefs chopping, no pots simring, no aroma of fresh coffee. Just silence. The comnts exploded: "LOL empty!" "Where’s the staff?" "Ghost kitchen?"

Bianca’s face paled, but she tried to play it off. "Uh... looks like they’re on a break or sothing. Haha, surprise!"

Sofia ca up behind her. "Huh? Isn’t breakfast ready yet? What’s going on?"

Bianca whispered fiercely, "The chefs are slacking off. We need to fire them." But louder for the cara: "Just a little delay, guys! Happens sotis in a big house like this."

Sofia rolled her eyes. "Relax, Bianca. It’s not the end of the world."

But Bianca couldn’t... the mocking comnts were piling up, her perfect image cracking. She gnashed her teeth, storming back to the dining room, cara still rolling. There, their mother, Valentina, entered, elegantly dressed in a silk robe over her nightgown, her hair pinned up. "Girls? What’s all this gallivanting about so early?"

Bianca whirled. "Mom, breakfast isn’t ready! The kitchen’s empty!"

Sofia nodded. "Yeah, there are no chefs anywhere."

Valentina furrowed her brows, her calm deanour shifting to concern. Just then, a maid walked past the hall, carrying a basket of laundry. Valentina called out sharply. "Maria! Co here."

The maid entered the dining hall, setting down her basket with a sigh. "Yes, ma’am?"

Valentina crossed her arms. "Why isn’t breakfast being prepared? Where are the chefs?"

Maria shrugged, her tone flat. "I have no idea, ma’am. It’s not my departnt."

Bianca’s temper flared. "What do you an you have no idea? You’re staff... do your job!"

Maria looked at her coolly. "I’m a maid, miss. I clean. I have no business in the kitchen." Without waiting for a response, she picked up her basket and left, the door swinging shut behind her.

The room fell silent. Valentina’s eyes narrowed... it was clear sothing was wrong. The maid’s attitude was unusually bold. She turned to her daughters. "Girls, what happened yesterday? Tell the truth."

Bianca and Sofia exchanged nervous glances, starting to stutter. "Uh, nothing, Mom..."

"We just had guests for a video," Sofia added weakly.

Valentina grabbed Bianca’s shoulder firmly. "Tell you didn’t do anything, child. You didn’t do anything to anger your grandfather."

Bianca pulled away. "We didn’t! Why would you think that?"

Valentina exhaled deeply, releasing her. "Because I know that look. If you’ve upset him, go and apologise. Now. Or living here will be hell for you." She turned and left the room, her robe swishing.

Bianca realised her phone was still live, comnts flooding in with laughing emojis and questions. "Uh, guys, family stuff... gotta go. I’m going through a lot right now. I need ti to process." She faked tears, ending the stream with a dramatic sigh.

As soon as it cut, she glared at Sofia. "That old man is trying to make us suffer because we didn’t donate blood. He’s punishing us!"

Sofia smirked, leaning against the table. "So he survived? I thought he might kick it. If he’s making us suffer, let’s see who lasts longer. Last man standing wins."

Bianca nodded, her anger turning to determination. "Yeah. He thinks he can starve us out? We’ll order in or sothing."

They high-fived, but as they left the dining hall, a subtle worry crept in. The empty kitchen was just the start... their suffering had begun.
