So pets could level up too. Bai Lian hadn’t paid much attention to this before. The stats panel now displayed a new pet-specific section with a "Details" button.
He clicked it, opening a status window:

"After leveling up, I hope you stop being decorative and at least gain so battle skills!" Bai Lian muttered.
He glanced at Facai, then tossed him the Pet Experience Fruit.
Facaiwho’d been waiting eagerlysnatched it mid-air and devoured it in two bites.
Licking his lips, Facai looked expectantly at Bai Lian but clearly felt no significant change.
Bai Lian retrieved another fruit and continued feeding him until all ten were gone.
Yet no dazzling transformation followed: no light bursts, no size increase. Before him sat the sa groundhog, picking his teeth with a claw, seemingly as useless as ever.
Undeterred, Bai Lian reopened the status panel:

He leveled up! And added five more Luck points!
“Do you feel any different after leveling up?” Bai Lian studied Facai. “Stronger senses? New strength? Anything?”
Hearing this, Facai froze mid-toothpick, then suddenly struck a combat poseonly to imdiately slump back down and resu dental hygiene.
Used to it. Fine. Since escape is hopeless, better accept my fate as a dead fish adrift than struggle pointlessly.
Bai Lian sensed his resignation. He reached out, ruffled Facai’s head, and consoled him:

Light erupted around him as a portal materialized. He stepped through.
At Nullification’s base, Li Xin wasn’t in her office but lounged in a chair in the communal workspace.
Around her, guild mbers debated dungeon strategies or traded achieventsnever for free, of course. Equivalent exchanges only.
A red-haired girl with twin ponytails slid her office chair toward Li Xin, makeup bright with excitent.
“Captain, check the main chat! They’re saying Xia Dongjiethe Professionals’ captainraged so hard he smashed his office!”
Gossip glittered in her eyes. “What happened? Last ti they lost a rookie prospect, he didn’t blow up like this.”
Li Xin smiled faintly, her tone suggestive.
“Maybe a certain ‘acquaintance’ of ours screwed him over again.”
“Who?” the girl leaned in, intrigued.
“A shaless freeloader who’d milk a stone for blood,” Li Xin rubbed her temples, just thinking about Bai Lian gave her a headache.
That guy constantly grubbed for freebies, even treating hercaptain of Nullificationas a tool. Since when did Li Xin sink so low?
The makeup-heavy girl giggled:
“Aren’t you afraid he’ll hear you badmouthing him?”
“Why? He’s not here,” Li Xin replied calmly. By her estimate, he’d barely have reached the exchange.
But as the words left her lips, an icy voice cut through the air beside her:
“What did you just say?”
