Vivian Quinn: "..."
"Sir, are you blind? Can’t you see I have a limp?"
"I’m disabled, you have a limp. We’re a match made in heaven."
Vivian Quinn: "..."
’Is there sothing seriously wrong with this guy’s head?’
Vivian Quinn brushed the hair from her left cheek, revealing a hideous, ugly scar. "See this? I’m hideous. We’re not a good match."
"You’re ugly, I’m handso. We complent each other perfectly."
Vivian Quinn: "..."
The corner of Vivian Quinn’s mouth twitched. Her gaze drifted downward, scanning a place she shouldn’t, and she muttered under her breath, "There’s nothing wrong with him in *that* departnt, either. So why would he be willing to marry soone like ...?"
Jett Sterling’s eyes darkened, and a faint smile appeared on his sinfully handso face. "It seems I did manage to satisfy my wife last night."
Vivian Quinn: "..."
"Don’t you go calling that! Who said I was your wife?" Vivian Quinn couldn’t be bothered to waste any more words on him. "I have things to do, so I’ll be leaving. Let’s go our separate ways and never see each other again."
Jett Sterling instinctively reached out and grabbed her wrist, but the next second, a sharp pain shot through his neck, and he passed out.
Vivian Quinn flexed her wrist and sneered, "Marry ? In your next life!"
Vivian Quinn climbed out of the second-floor window, intending to sneak away, only to discover... she was on a small island!
’How was she supposed to escape from this?’
While she was still stunned, she heard a panicked cry. "Master Sterling, what’s wrong? Soone, co quickly! Master Sterling has fainted!"
Vivian Quinn broke into a run.
She ran to the shore. Aethelgard was just across the water, probably about two kiloters away, but the only way to get there was by boat.
Several speedboats were moored at the shore, but they were guarded, and besides, she didn’t know how to operate one.
Just as she was wondering what to do, she heard footsteps behind her. Several bodyguards rushed over. "Miss Quinn, please co back with us."
Vivian Quinn was practically dragged back to the room, where another doctor was examining Jett Sterling.
Easton Rivers had a worried look on his face. "How is Master Sterling?"
"He was struck on the back of the neck and knocked unconscious. Whoever did it was ruthless."
Vivian Quinn: "..."
Easton Rivers shot Vivian Quinn a look that scread ’You’re dead at’. "Take her away and keep a close eye on her. We’ll wait for Master Sterling to wake up before deciding her fate."
"Yes, sir."
Outnumbered, Vivian Quinn decided she might as well give up struggling. ’Might as well get so rest and conserve my energy for now,’ she thought.
The man last night had been too rough, taking her again and again. She was lucky she hadn’t died in that coffin.
Vivian Quinn collapsed onto the bed, so exhausted she fell asleep in seconds.
She didn’t know how much ti had passed, but in her daze, she felt a cool sensation sowhere...
Her eyes shot open. She saw that her legs were spread apart, and the man in the wheelchair was intently applying dicine to her!
Vivian Quinn’s face flushed red to the tips of her ears. She hastily pulled the blanket over herself. "You pervert!"
"You’re injured. I’m applying so ointnt," the man explained calmly.
"You shut up!" Vivian Quinn’s face grew even redder. "I don’t need you to put anything on !"
Jett Sterling slowly put the ointnt away. "You knocked unconscious, and I haven’t even settled the score with you for that, yet you’re the one throwing a tantrum."
Vivian Quinn: "..."
The atmosphere suddenly grew dangerous.
Her instincts told her that the man before her was not to be trifled with.
"At most... I’ll apologize." Able to bend and stretch, Vivian Quinn imdiately backed down, sticking her head out. "Go on."
"Do what?"
"Let you hit back."
Jett Sterling couldn’t help but raise his hand and ruffle her hair. "Relax. I don’t have a tendency for dostic violence."
Vivian Quinn: "..."
’Dostic violence?’
’Why did that brutal phrase sound strangely intimate coming from his lips?’
’And his tone was also surprisingly gentle.’
’She had to admit, the man was gorgeous, and his voice was her favorite kind—a deep, rich baritone. His voice just now was so good it could make her ears pregnant!’
’But she absolutely would not be swayed!’
Vivian Quinn gathered her thoughts and said with a serious expression, "Sir, just because I’m not holding last night against you doesn’t an you can push your luck and lock up here. Send back right now, or don’t bla for what happens next!"
"I’m warning you, I have a fiancé, and he’s a very powerful man!"
Jett Sterling’s face instantly turned cold. "You are my woman now. From this mont on, you’d best make a clean break with your so-called fiancé. Otherwise, don’t bla ** for what happens next."
Vivian Quinn froze. Though the man before her was in a wheelchair, his aura was exceptionally powerful.
He wasn’t even angry, yet he sent a chill down her spine.
It wasn’t that she was sheltered, but this was the first ti she had been so intimidated by soone’s presence alone.
’Could my luck get any worse? How did I end up provoking a living Yama!’
Vivian Quinn collected her thoughts and said, "Sir, I really do have a fiancé, and I’m getting engaged the day after tomorrow. Please let go."
"I told you, you are my woman. My woman cannot marry another man."
"Why can’t you understand plain language? I have a fiancé, I’m about to get engaged to him! What happened between us was just an accident. I’m asking you to forget about it!"
Jett Sterling grabbed her wrist and, with a sharp tug, forced her closer to him.
They were only a fist’s-width apart, and Vivian Quinn could clearly see her own face reflected in his eyes.
"I will say this one last ti," Jett Sterling declared, enunciating each word. "You are mine. If you are to marry, you will marry only . Do you understand?"
A shiver of fear ran through Vivian Quinn, and she stared at him in terror.
Jett Sterling released her and wheeled his chair away.
Vivian Quinn was so angry her stomach cramped. She flopped weakly onto the bed, frantically wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes.
Her phone was gone, so she couldn’t even make a call. Who knows what kind of trouble Rachel Quinn was stirring up out there, and Austin Grant must be worried sick that he couldn’t find her!
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Vivian Quinn ignored it, but it was soon pushed open.
"Miss Quinn," a maid’s voice called out. "Master Sterling sent to bring you sothing to eat."
Vivian Quinn quickly sat up. "Can I borrow your phone for a second?"
"I’m sorry, I don’t have a phone on ."
"How is that possible? Who doesn’t carry a phone these days?"
"It’s true. You can search if you don’t believe ."
Vivian Quinn suddenly realized sothing. "It was that Master Sterling guy, wasn’t it? He’s the one who won’t let you carry a phone, right? It’s illegal for him to imprison , and you’re an accomplice!"
"Miss Quinn, please eat. I’ll be leaving now." The maid set down the tray and fled.
Vivian Quinn was about to die from anger, but she knew that in tis like these, she needed to calm down and figure out a way to leave.
The most pressing matter was to fill her stomach first.
She hadn’t eaten for a whole day and night, since last evening. She was so hungry her stomach felt like it was stuck to her spine.
Vivian Quinn pushed her exhausted body out of bed and went to the table to eat.
The maid had prepared a lot of food, all of it light and nourishing.
After eating and drinking her fill, Vivian Quinn opened the window to observe. That bastard really was a dog; he’d even posted bodyguards to watch the shore in the middle of the night!
She was too tired and had no strength to escape now. She could only rest first and wait until she’d recovered before trying to find a way out.
...
「The next morning.」
Vivian Quinn slowly stirred awake.
She opened her eyes, and the first thing she saw was an incomparably handso face.
"Ah!" Vivian Quinn cried out, shooting upright and nervously pulling the blanket around herself. "Are you trying to scare to death?"
Jett Sterling commanded, "Get up."
"Why?"
"We’re going to the Civil Affairs Bureau to register our marriage."
