"After you finished eating, where did you go without having a al?" Yang Xuehua stood up with her lunch box.

"I haven’t yet, Sister Xuehua, can you do a favor? Secretary Li ran out of hot water, could you get a pot of hot water from the cafeteria and bring it to him?" Xia Xiao followed Yang Xuehua.

"Sure, where are you headed?" Yang Xuehua asked again.

"I’m going to Aunt Hong’s to see if the herbal dicine is ready, to bring it to Secretary Li." As she spoke, Xia Xiao handed the kettle over to Yang Xuehua, then headed toward the Gao family’s place.

Having given the kettle to Yang Xuehua, Xia Xiao was blown by the wind all the way to Gao Jiaxing, her face already wet from the rain. Just then, she ran into Gao Jiaxing who was about to leave the house. He looked at Xia Xiao and asked, "Is there sothing you need?"

"Oh, I ca to see Aunt, to take the dicine to Secretary Li." As soon as Xia Xiao finished speaking, Gao Jiaxing, with a dark face, walked away.

Xia Xiao didn’t mind Gao Jiaxing and found Zheng Xianghong in the kitchen, who was preparing the dicine.

"Aunt, have you had your al yet?" Xia Xiao asked.

"I am eating now," replied Zheng Xianghong.

As Zheng Xianghong was sitting and eating from her bowl while watching the dicine, she asked Xia Xiao, "And you? Have you eaten yet?"

"Not yet, the team leader asked to bring food to Secretary Li, and hearing that Aunt was preparing dicine for Secretary Li, I ca over to help you carry it," said Xia Xiao.

"In this typhoon weather, you shouldn’t skip als to co here. I can bring it over myself in a bit," said Zheng Xianghong.

"It’s precisely because of the typhoon weather and the roads being bad, that I ca over to help out, Aunt," Xia Xiao said with a smile.

"The dicine is also ready; you can take it to Secretary Li. It’s a bit bitter, but he needs to finish it all to work," said Zheng Xianghong.

Xia Xiao made a note of this, packed up the herbal soup, bid farewell to Zheng Xianghong, and left the Gao family.

When she arrived at Secretary Li’s place, Yang Xuehua was already there, chatting with Secretary Li.

Seeing Xia Xiao, Yang Xuehua breathed a sigh of relief, "Xia Xiao, you’re here."

"Sit for a while, Sister Xuehua," said Xia Xiao, setting the herbal soup aside and asked Li Zhenchuan, "Secretary Li, have you finished your al?"

Li Zhenchuan nodded. Xia Xiao said, "Aunt Hong ntioned that although the dicine is bitter, it needs to be finished to be effective."

After that, Xia Xiao turned to Yang Xuehua and said, "Sister Xuehua, please make sure Secretary Li finishes his dicine. I need to go eat now; otherwise, there’ll be none left."

Xia Xiao wasn’t worried about Yang Xuehua and Li Zhenchuan lacking topics to talk about. Both were from the Capital, and Yang Xuehua’s father once ntored Li Zhenchuan; that connection might just bring them together without Xia Xiao having to do anything.

At this point, Xia Xiao had set the stage, and what ca next was out of her hands. If the two didn’t end up together, it simply ant there was no fate, or perhaps Li Zhenchuan’s future wife wasn’t Yang Xuehua.

After leaving Secretary Li’s place, Xia Xiao suddenly rembered she hadn’t added spring water to the soup or his water. Thinking of Yang Xuehua being there, she decided to let it be. Let Secretary Li be ill for a few days; with Yang Xuehua caring for him, he could have spring water later if he hadn’t recovered.

In the cafeteria, Xia Xiao got her al and took it back to the dorm to eat.

Feng Ying looked at Xia Xiao unhappily and said, "Xia Xiao, you really get along best with Xuehua, seizing such a good opportunity just for her."

Xia Xiao chuckled. She could tell Feng Ying was more than interested in Li Zhenchuan; she was enamored with him.

But Feng Ying was right; Xia Xiao and Yang Xuehua were close friends, naturally hoping for Yang Xuehua and Li Zhenchuan to end up together, always putting Yang Xuehua first, then Sister Aihua.

"Sister Aihua, it’s different. Sister Xuehua’s father was once the ntor of Secretary Li, which he himself told . He ntioned Sister Xuehua to but never you," Xia Xiao said.

"Aiyo, that really is destiny," said Wang Aihua at this intersection, then turned to Feng Ying, "Don’t be jealous. So things can’t be forced. If you are fated with Secretary Li, you’ll get your chance."

Feng Ying remained visibly upset all day, not even giving Xia Xiao a proper look and even went to see Li Zhenchuan, only to return soon with a gloomy face.

Xia Xiao felt helpless. Comparatively, Yang Xuehua and Li Zhenchuan were a better match, and given her close relationship with Yang Xuehua, she naturally favored her. In truth, Xia Xiao had no idea who would be Li Zhenchuan’s wife.

Xia Xiao hadn’t looked into Li Zhenchuan’s background and wasn’t of his social circle, so she didn’t concern herself with such things.

Currently, Li Zhenchuan in the production team was quite sought after, many female educated youths wanted to marry him. Xia Xiao even thought that if Li Zhenchuan wanted, just a wave of his hand would have so of them talking marriage.

For now, though, Li Zhenchuan wasn’t that kind of man, keeping his distance from female educated youth, probably to avoid gossip.

Facing Feng Ying’s unhappiness, Xia Xiao had to bear it. Who told her seeing Li Zhenchuan and Yang Xuehua together made her play matchmaker?

After breakfast, Xia Xiao nested in bed reading, not a special period yet, so she could still peruse so variegated books.

Feng Ying went out again, this ti Dong ihua went with her. Wang Aihua said, "Xia Xiao, how did you think of setting up Xuehua?"

Xia Xiao innocently replied, "I didn’t an to, Sister Aihua got it wrong. The team leader asked to bring breakfast to Secretary Li, and since Aunt Hong was preparing dicine, I went to get hot water for Secretary Li from the cafeteria. Since Secretary Li had ntioned Sister Xuehua to , I asked Sister Xuehua to help out. After bringing the dicine from Aunt Hong to Secretary Li, I ca back."

Wang Aihua nodded, "Well, it’s not your fault. As soon as Secretary Li arrived, Feng Ying was visibly interested. Now with Xuehua at Secretary Li’s side, her returning upset surely isn’t pleasant. These days, her mood isn’t good, and you might absorb so of her frustration, so steer clear a bit."

"Sister Aihua, I understand," Xia Xiao smiled slightly, grateful for Wang Aihua’s kind reminder.

Yuhua looked at Xia Xiao and said, "Xia Xiao, you didn’t fall for Gao Jiaxing, did you? What a great opportunity to get close to Secretary Li, and you don’t seize it. Secretary Li is in every way out of Gao Jiaxing’s league."

Xia Xiao smiled slightly and replied, "Then why don’t you have that in mind, Sister Yuhua?"

Yuhua paused and said, "Secretary Li hasn’t given that chance. Haven’t you noticed? He’s very guarded against female educated youths. Despite appearing amiable, he’s polite yet distant. Look, apart from Xia Xiao, which female educated youth can even chat with Secretary Li? If it weren’t for Xia Xiao giving Yang Xuehua a chance, she couldn’t even get close to Secretary Li."
