Luo Mingzhe and Liu Yue were the first to notice Xia Xiao and Yang Xuehua. Ti had shown kindness to Xia Xiao, for even as her age increased, her appearance seed to age more slowly.
As for the face of Yang Xuehua, although it had aged with ti, she still maintained that distinctive scholarly poise. Luo Mingzhe and Liu Yue would struggle to be unfamiliar with her.
Yang Xuehua, Gao Jiazhi, and Yang Xiaoting had started a school together, but the school was only part of her life. She also wrote books, had won literary awards, so of her work had been adapted into art films, and she regularly published articles, fiction, essays, poetry, dramas, and various writings in newspapers, magazines, and books.
Nowadays, Yang Xuehua is a fad writer, poet, essayist, dramatist, literary critic, and educator. Here in S City, there were few in the field of literature who could be compared to Yang Xuehua, with Luo Mingzhe being a rare exception.
Luo Mingzhe worked in the journalism industry. He also produced a great number of works; compared to Yang Xuehua, what he lacked was the title of educator.
But Luo Mingzhe possessed sothing Yang Xuehua did not: the title of journalist.
Undoubtedly, Luo Mingzhe was very talented. Even setting other things aside, Luo Mingzhe and Yang Xuehua used to be an extraordinary match. The union of two such gifted individuals was once a subject of much admiration.
Yet, Luo Mingzhe chose Liu Yue. Regardless of the reason, it was a great hurt to Yang Xuehua at the ti.
However, as they say, heaven has a soft spot for the simple-hearted. After enduring hardships and garnering sympathy for many years, Yang Xuehua finally found her place.
Combining military and literary accomplishnts, it seed Yang Xuehua and Yu Shijie were more compatible. So people think soldiers are too rough, inattentive, not considerate enough, and often away from ho.
"Why are you staring at them? Yang Xuehua is an old grandma now. What’s there to look at?" Liu Yue said, displeased.
"Calm down," Luo Mingzhe replied, discontentedly.
"Calm down? You should act better. Every ti you see Yang Xuehua, it’s like you can’t even walk anymore. If you really liked her that much, why did you let her go?"
Liu Yue harbored resentnt. Over the many years, they had broken up and gotten back together nurous tis, and she understood him best. As soon as she saw Luo Mingzhe acting like this, she knew what he was thinking. Her greatest loathing was for Luo Mingzhe’s current behavior.
"What are you talking about? It was I who wronged her in the past. Moreover, Xuehua and I grew up together since we were little, childhood friends..."
Before Luo Mingzhe could finish speaking, Liu Yue mocked him with a laugh, "Childhood sweethearts and innocent companions, is that it?"
"Ptui!" Liu Yue spat on Luo Mingzhe in disgust.
Luo Mingzhe frowned imdiately, "What has gotten into you? You’ve beco more and more unreasonable."
"How am I being unreasonable? It’s all because of you," Liu Yue snapped back. For many years now, they had argued countless tis over Yang Xuehua. Liu Yue hated her to death, but she also knew she couldn’t do anything about Yang Xuehua.
And yet, Luo Mingzhe, pining for Yang Xuehua, inevitably touched upon Liu Yue’s sore spot.
Over the years, they had separated and reunited, fought and squabbled, and Luo Mingzhe even had affairs, which nearly drove Liu Yue mad.
However, no matter what happened, they couldn’t be separated. They had also grown old together, and though they fought daily, neither had brought up separating.
"You’re being unreasonable. Why hate Yang Xuehua? If there’s hate, it should be Yang Xuehua hating you. Yes, I was weak-willed back then, but wasn’t it your seduction that interfered with my relationship with Yang Xuehua? She was my fiancée, what right do you have to hate her?"
At this point, Yang Xuehua and Xia Xiao had already walked away, and Gao Jiaxing and Yu Shijie naturally followed and left. Luo Mingzhe and Liu Yue were now in the midst of their dispute.
Liu Yue’s eyes reddened, "Why can’t I hate her? Since you gave her up and chose , it should be her hating you, not . You’re with , married with a child, yet you’re still fixated on her, hurting . Why can’t I hate her?"
If possible, Liu Yue would have liked to eliminate Yang Xuehua, but she knew it wasn’t possible and besides, she wouldn’t dare to provoke Yang Xuehua, nor risk it.
Luo Mingzhe sighed, "Indeed, it is my fault, I have let you both down."
Back in the day, Liu Yue was radiant and seed more vibrant. Yang Xuehua and Luo Mingzhe were of similar kind, or more precisely, similar deanor.
Luo Mingzhe did like Yang Xuehua, and being with her was pressure-free, but he was also drawn to Liu Yue’s vivaciousness and beauty.
Moreover, Liu Yue ca from a wealthy family, and Luo Mingzhe’s mother thought highly of Liu Yue. After all, Liu Yue’s family background was evident, and marrying into it would naturally be a step forward.
So when they graduated, Luo Mingzhe broke off his engagent with Yang Xuehua and chose Liu Yue.
At the ti, Luo Mingzhe did feel guilty towards Yang Xuehua, genuinely remorseful, but he also believed his choice was not wrong.
Only after Yang Xuehua left did Luo Mingzhe find himself unable to stop thinking about her. And, unlike Yang Xuehua’s tenderness and thoughtfulness, Liu Yue was spoiled and willful, which made her hard to please.
The more ti he spent with Liu Yue, the more Luo Mingzhe found himself thinking of Yang Xuehua, inevitably drawing comparisons.
And though Luo Mingzhe was with Liu Yue in order to avoid being sent to the countryside, in the end, he was sent down anyway.
Even then, when Yang Xuehua was getting older and still unmarried, Luo Mingzhe still sympathized with her. They were classmates, after all, and Luo Mingzhe wanted to make ands. But Yang Xuehua was not receptive.
When Yang Xuehua finally got married and seed to do quite well for herself, Luo Mingzhe found himself feeling sour inside.
It was at that mont Luo Mingzhe realized just how much he cared, and he began to regret.
