Xia Xiao looked at Assistant Qian, whose expression stiffened, forcing a smile as she said, "Yes, Academician Xia, my little sister is taking care of Leilei, so it’s impossible for her to go over."
"Is that so? Then you two should go back and check if your little sister is indeed at ho." Having said this, Xia Xiao added another sentence, "My son is already married, and his twin sons will be starting elentary school next year."
Without waiting for a response from the couple, Xia Xiao left.
Dr. Xi and Assistant Qian returned to their quarters, only to not find Qian Xiaoi present; it was Shanyue who was taking care of her sister.
"Where’s your auntie?" Dr. Xi asked Shanyue.
"I don’t know. Little Auntie told to look after my sister and said she’d be back soon, but she’s been gone for a long ti and hasn’t co back," Shanyue shook her head.
Dr. Xi frowned, and Assistant Qian said, "There must be so misunderstanding; Xiaoi isn’t this kind of person."
At this point, Assistant Qian was also angry with her sister’s rashness and knew this matter needed to be carefully considered; impulsively seeking soone out just wasn’t done.
"Your little sister is also twenty-five now. You, as the older sister, should take it to heart and introduce her to soone," Dr. Xi said. He was aware of his sister-in-law’s intentions and didn’t disapprove of her being interested in an unmarried researcher; in fact, he even thought it was quite good.
But when the little sister-in-law set her sights on Academician Xia’s son, who was married, and so impulsively sought him out, Dr. Xi felt it didn’t look good.
"What kind of people can I know? She’s your little sister; she respects you, her brother-in-law, the most. You have more capabilities; you help her find soone," said Assistant Qian, which was what had been on her mind all along.
Qian Xiaoi only ca back at night, and her entire appearance had drastically changed. Not to ntion that Dr. Xi and Assistant Qian might not have recognized her, even the security guard almost didn’t let her in when she returned.
Dr. Xi did not look pleased, finding fault with Qian Xiaoi for not taking good care of the child. She hadn’t returned until nightfall, and the strong scent of her perfu also made Dr. Xi frown deeply.
Seeing Dr. Xi’s frown, Assistant Qian imdiately dragged Qian Xiaoi into the room and glared at her, "You fool, who told you to go to Gaoxia Group to find soone? Who do you think you are, thinking you can et the president whenever you want?"
"Also, look at how you’re dressed. Are you trying to look like a painted ghost? Do you think you’re a vampire or sothing, with such a strong sll on you? You didn’t spray the whole bottle of perfu on yourself, did you?" Assistant Qian felt a headache seeing her sister in such a state, who was actually pretty but didn’t know how to dress or use her advantages.
What a waste of a beautiful face, thought Assistant Qian as she looked at her sister’s face, feeling sowhat jealous. How nice it would be if that face were hers.
At this mont, Qian Xiaoi was dressed outrageously, not at her most glamorous, but at her most vulgar.
Qian Xiaoi had gone out to get her hair done, styled into an aristocratic updo, but also wore a big, wavy, golden wig. Dressed in a bright red, low-cut evening gown, she was painted in heavy, temptress-like makeup, complete with smoky eyes, blood-red lips—Qian Xiaoi seed to always have a peculiar fondness for bright red colors.
Now, she resembled an odd red rose, not to ntion the butterfly tattoos stuck onto her shoulder and back, along with her ten fingernails painted deep red.
As Assistant Qian scrutinized her, her temples throbbed, "Who taught you to dress like this?"
"I was wearing the gown when I went to the salon; I asked them to do the most beautiful hairstyle for . I think it’s not bad, quite pretty," Qian Xiaoi still twirled in front of Assistant Qian, the strong scent of her perfu so overpowering that Assistant Qian couldn’t help but cover her nose.
At this mont, Qian Xiaoi felt relieved that Xia Xiao hadn’t seen her in such a state, and she was also thankful that she had co back at night. Otherwise, in broad daylight, once everyone caught sight of Qian Xiaoi’s attire, even Assistant Qian would feel ashad.
"Hideous," Assistant Qian pushed Qian Xiaoi, "Hurry up and wash off that ghoulish makeup."
Qian Xiaoi pouted and reluctantly headed to the restroom. In her heart, she thought Assistant Qian had no taste. Only a blockhead like her brother-in-law would fall for her older sister, who was unattractive and old-fashioned.
On Xia Xiao’s end, she received a video call and pictures sent by her secretary on QQ. Seeing Qian Xiaoi’s makeup, Xia Xiao burst out laughing.
"Is that Qian Xiaoi?" Shitou widened his eyes in disbelief.
"You recognize her?" Xia Xiao was surprised. If it hadn’t been for the secretary saying it was Qian Xiaoi, Xia Xiao wouldn’t have been able to identify her.
"Didn’t grandma say that Qian Xiaoi went to Gaoxia Group to find my uncle? Who else could it be? And only she would dress up like that," Shitou expressed in dismay.
Xia Xiao said, "Perhaps the stylist thought she was going to a ball, which is why she ended up with such makeup."
Otherwise, Xia Xiao couldn’t think of any reason why Qian Xiaoi would sport a vampire-like makeup. With a mask on, it would indeed be fitting.
"She must have so issues in her head," Shitou added. "She’s always inquiring about my uncle or asking Xiao Shan Yue. If my uncle weren’t married, it would be one thing, but she persists even though she knows he’s married. I don’t know where she gets her confidence from."
Shitou couldn’t understand Qian Xiaoi’s thought process at all, and she seed to have a peculiar confidence, as if she believed she had the face of a celestial being that could srize anyone.
"There are all sorts of odd people in this world, it’s pretty normal." Xia Xiao didn’t look a second ti but advised Shitou, "Stay away from her in the future."
"I do want to keep my distance, but she’s always lingering outside the research lab. It’s impossible not to run into her," Shitou frowned.
Xia Xiao replied, "I’ll talk to Dr. Xi about this tomorrow. After all, it’s near the research lab and involves confidential matters. It’s not good for Qian Xiaoi to be circling the lab every day."
Their research lab was low-key, with confidentiality agreents signed. It wasn’t publicized, so people didn’t suspect they were working on significant secrets.
The country didn’t want to attract attention either, so the lab was conveniently located within Technology University.
The next day, Xia Xiao simply reminded Dr. Xi, and Dr. Xi imdiately instructed Assistant Qian to tell Qian Xiaoi not to wander around the lab anymore, to avoid being mistaken for a spy.
The word "spy" naturally made Assistant Qian take the matter seriously, so he also forbade Qian Xiaoi from coming over.
Qian Xiaoi was frustrated; she had been thinking about getting close to and winning over Xia Xiao.
However, Qian Xiaoi’s absence here shifted her focus to the Genius Youth Class. She took Xi Beilei to see Shitou every day, behaving as if she was very familiar with him.
Assistant Qian didn’t stop her because of sothing Qian Xiaoi had said, that relationships should start to be nurtured from a young age.
Xia Xiao didn’t know about this. Although she was aware that Qian Xiaoi was trying to get close to Shitou, neither Xia Xiao nor Shitou knew about the intentions that Assistant Qian and Qian Xiaoi harbored—to foster a relationship between Shitou and Xi Beilei.
