Liu Haihua awoke on the cold ground as dawn broke, her awakening brought on by the chill, with her own dirty sock stuffed in her mouth.

Liu Haihua spat it out, retched a few tis in disgust, hurriedly threw on so clothes lying nearby, and silently surveyed everything in her ho, slling the scent of alcohol, her eyes gradually growing ice-cold.

What audacity, to dare sneak into her, Liu Haihua’s, room, she thought, truly disregarding her.

Liu Haihua’s eyes were bloodshot with fury, Niu Pizi, she would never forgive him, he dared, dared to defile her again.

Liu Haihua was filled with hatred.

Convinced it was Niu Pizi, Liu Haihua would never let him go; while it might be hard for her to deal with others, dealing with Niu Pizi was incredibly easy.

All she needed was to get Niu Pizi drunk; then, without Liu Haihua having to lift a finger, Niu Pizi would incriminate himself.

However, because of the humiliation she suffered, she absolutely couldn’t let it be known, so Liu Haihua decided she would silence Niu Pizi.

On this day, Wang Xueyong and Gao Guihua were getting married, Xia Xiao, Sun Yuhua, and Zheng Xianghong all stayed at ho, while Gao Guoqiang and Gao Jiazhi went into the city.

Seeing that Gao Jiaxing didn’t appear, the people at the old residence were very displeased, they had suggested that Gao Jiaxing co, yet he hadn’t.

Even though Gao Guoqiang explained that Gao Jiaxing had returned to the military, the people at the old residence were still unhappy, feeling that Jiaxing didn’t care about his cousin Gao Guihua on such an important day as her wedding.

Gao Jiazhi remarked only, "On the day Jiaxing got married, people from the old residence didn’t return either."

With that said, the others at the old residence fell silent, but Lin Xuebi said, "So Jiaxing is holding a grudge then."

Gao Jiazhi responded, "Jiaxing doesn’t have the ti to hold grudges, he’s a soldier, and if the military commands, why would he stay here?"

The mood at the old residence was still despondent, they didn’t necessarily need Gao Jiaxing to co, but because Wang Xueyong ntioned that he and Gao Jiaxing were classmates and that he admired Gao Jiaxing greatly, ntioning him from ti to ti had been enough to garner attention from the people at the old residence.

Yet, Gao Jiaxing never showed up.

The people at the old residence valued Wang Xueyong very highly, feeling exhilarated about such a familial connection.

Even Yang Hua was all smiles, currying favor with Gao Guihua, who had married well. Naturally, she wanted to appease her new sister-in-law, who might be able to help them in the future.

When Wang Xueyong arrived to fetch Gao Guihua and didn’t see Gao Jiaxing, hearing that Gao Jiaxing had returned to the military, his smile sowhat faded.

Gao Guihua sensed this and offered a few words of explanation, Wang Xueyong appeared indifferent, but he felt it was terribly unfortunate.

Had it not been for Gao Jiaxing, he wouldn’t have considered this marriage alliance at all, the Gao family ant nothing in his eyes.

Still, with Gao Guoqiang and Gao Jiazhi present, Wang Xueyong’s deanor was exceptionally pleasant, far warr towards them than towards Gao Jianmin and Gao Jianhua.

Gao Yongfang and Feng Zhiguang regretted having turned their backs on her family now that they hadn’t returned even once since her family moved out of the old house.

Though it is said that there are no overnight grudges between father and daughter, when Gao Guoqiang last sent Gao Yongfang away, she harbored a grudge and had never returned, nor had she seen her family mbers since.

But now, Gao Jiaxing had unexpectedly beco an officer, and even one that Wang Xueyong had taken a liking to, leaving Gao Yongfang and Feng Zhiguang feeling quite bitter.

Because Gao Yongfang had not borne a son, and Feng Zhiguang couldn’t divorce, nor could he take a concubine in this era and having a strict regi, Feng Zhiguang didn’t dare to engage in affairs; thus, he grew increasingly dissatisfied with Gao Yongfang.

However, it was only because of the Gao family relationship that Feng Zhiguang tolerated Gao Yongfang. Now, seeing his father-in-law and brother-in-law ignoring them, Feng Zhiguang secretly blad Gao Yongfang for being incompetent and offending her family.

Wang Xueyong whisked away Gao Guihua; Gao Guoqiang and Gao Jiazhi prepared to leave after a short stay, with the old family not retaining them. Wang Xueyong’s closeness to Gao Guoqiang and Gao Jiazhi consequently alienated everyone else in the old house, causing them much discomfort, but they couldn’t scold Gao Guoqiang and Gao Jiazhi as before.

"Dad, Jiazhi, are you leaving so soon? Co sit at our place," Gao Yongfang and Feng Zhiguang said, forcing a smile as they caught up.

"I have no daughter like you." If Gao Yongfang had co back to apologize or visit before, Gao Guoqiang’s attitude might have softened.

But years had passed without Gao Yongfang returning, so Gao Guoqiang truly acted as if he hadn’t fathered Gao Yongfang.

"Dad," Feng Zhiguang said, fawning.

"Don’t call dad; I cannot bear that title from you," Gao Guoqiang said. "Jiazhi, let’s go."

Gao Jiazhi ignored Gao Yongfang and followed Gao Guoqiang. Once they had walked off, with a loud smack, Feng Zhiguang slapped Gao Yongfang on the face, angrily saying, "Useless thing, even your family doesn’t want you. What use do I have for marrying you, you barren hen?"

Mmm, Gao Yongfang cried, covering her face.

They weren’t far from the old house, and Feng Zhiguang hissed a warning, "Don’t you dare cry, or don’t think about coming ho with . Go die sowhere far away."

Feng Zhiguang walked away, leaving Gao Yongfang fearing he would leave her behind, and she hurried after him.

Having not borne a son, Gao Yongfang lacked courage; over the years, she had been the scapegoat in her marital ho, only ever bold in her parental ho, and never at her in-laws.

Despite still having her parental ho and old house ties, Gao Yongfang continued to endure submissively. Now, seeing the heartless faces of Gao Guoqiang and Gao Jiazhi, she blad Gao Guoqiang and Gao Jiazhi even more for their cruelty.

But she never thought about how her actions had disheartened her family.

"People like Gao Yongfang, who flaunt their loyalty where there’s gain, do not deserve to be my daughter," thought Gao Guoqiang, anger stewing within him. If Gao Yongfang hadn’t approached him today, Gao Guoqiang might have reacted less severely.

Yet unexpectedly, Wang Xueyong’s enthusiasm today turned Gao Yongfang and Feng Zhiguang into sycophants, which infuriated Gao Guoqiang even more. He wished he hadn’t cared about her at all in the past, so as not to lose face now.

Yes, every ti Gao Guoqiang thought about having fathered such a person, he felt utterly disgraced.

Gao Jiazhi said nothing. He could see that Gao Yongfang was not doing well in her marital ho, her smile ek and ingratiating towards Feng Zhiguang, which deeply pained Gao Jiazhi, albeit helplessly.

Gao Yongfang didn’t require help from her parents, for this was the bed she had made for herself, not to ntion how much she had chilled her own family. Gao Jiazhi could only try his best to ignore her.
