Yu Yuan heard the excitent and restraint in the voice, and nodded slightly.

Without hesitation he said, "I'm here to take you away. This place is no longer safe. If you want, you can co with ."

Simon froze at those words. He glanced back at the room where his feverish, nearly unconscious child and wife lay; their wounds were still bandaged.

Those injuries ca from yesterday’s ambush by scavengers.

Simon knew perfectly well how dangerous the place had beco, but with his wife and child burning with fever and the room’s dwindling supplies, he had no other choice.

If they left without survival supplies, the three of them would stand little chance of surviving, so he had been forced to stay—caring for his family while ready at any mont to fight to the death against any approaching enemy.

His heart swayed.

But he was still hesitant, and voiced his concern directly.

"You were the one who brought us stuff last ti, right? Thanks. But are you sure we should go with you? My wife and child still have high fevers, they..."

Yu Yuan checked the ti. Mona pinged another update: the Aurora Animal Assistance Association had 80% of its forces rendered combat-ineffective.

"It’s fine. All three of you co with . Work at my shelter and your safety is on . I can take care of one woman and one child. Decide quickly!"

Yu Yuan's words finally made Simon choose.

He understood this was his family's only chance. If he missed this help, death was the only thing waiting. Better to leave than to wait here to die.

Creak—

As the door opened, Yu Yuan saw the man more clearly.

Haggard and emaciated, he looked nothing like when they had first t.

Simon's upper body was wrapped in bandages, faint blood seeping through. His wolfish eyes now held helplessness, resignation, gratitude, and caution all at once.

It was plain how complicated his emotions were.

Yu Yuan nodded at Simon.

Entering the room, he saw the ss and the dried blood on the floor.

Scattered in a corner were the supplies Simon had gathered—quite a quantity, showing he had been collecting for so ti.

But to Yu Yuan, these supplies were nowhere near enough to withstand the coming Extre Cold disaster.

He shook his head slightly.

On the bed lay a woman wrapped in bandages, cradling a three-year-old child, both asleep.

Their faces were flushed; they had high fevers.

Simon closed the door and walked to his family, looking at Yu Yuan.

"They've had high fevers since yesterday. We gave them antibiotics and fever reducers, but they're not working very well..."

Yu Yuan already had the Loser's Cube in his hand and looked at Simon.

"My shelter has doctors and dicine. Don't resist, they'll recover quickly." As he spoke, the Loser's Cube flashed and enveloped the three of them. Simon's wife and child were taken into the cube.

Simon was visibly surprised, but because Yu Yuan had warned him in advance, he did not resist excessively, and soon entered the Loser's Cube as well.

Yu Yuan then stored the room's survival supplies into the Rabbit Ring and did not linger.

He imdiately used the Escape Key to return to the shelter.

They arrived on the second underground level, where Fang and the Doctor were waiting.

After two days of recovery, Fang could move normally again; she was in good condition, with the Doctor at her side.

"King, are they here?"

As the Loser's Cube flashed again, Simon's wife and child appeared on the treatnt bed. The Doctor began examining them at once.

"This child is still so small!" the Doctor said softly.

Simon then materialized beside Yu Yuan, his face full of shock.

He stared at Yu Yuan, dumbfounded, not understanding what had just happened.

But his attention quickly snapped to his family on the bed.

"Temperature 39.2°C, dehydrated and weak, heart rate 121, blood pressure 149/94, blood oxygen 98%... wounds show signs of infection and need debrident..."

The Doctor reported quickly. With Fang's help, he hooked them up for IV fluids and promptly cleaned and treated the wounds; the two patients cooperated smoothly.

Half an hour of treatnt passed, and the woman and child's conditions visibly stabilized.

After the Doctor finished rebandaging them using the Rare-tier Bandages Yu Yuan had brought back from Freedom Tower, their wounds looked healed to the naked eye. The Doctor then looked to Yu Yuan.

"King, they're basically out of danger. We just need to wait for them to wake, and there shouldn't be other problems."

Yu Yuan nodded slightly.

Bang—

A dull sound ca from behind; Yu Yuan turned and saw Simon.

Simon knelt on the ground and looked at Yu Yuan, his eyes rimd red, his lips trembling slightly, but his words were forceful.

"I won't say thank you and all that, but from now on this life of mine belongs to you!"

Yu Yuan patted Simon on the shoulder.

"Keep that life safe. There will be plenty of chances for you to pull your weight. First let's treat your wounds and get you sothing to eat, the rest can be handled later..."

The Doctor began treating Simon imdiately. Yu Yuan checked the Commander System.

Mona reported: the Aurora Animal Assistance Association had 90% of its people rendered combat-ineffective by the plague.

They were either unconscious or collapsed.

The remaining 10% were on the verge of fainting, including so gene-warriors injected with Genetic Modification Serum, such as Miller and key laboratory personnel.

But according to Mona, even with this steep decline in condition, they no longer posed a threat.

Carn had already deployed people in District 11.

Zhou Yuan had, per Yu Yuan's request, gathered the top leaders of the other Ring East City Resistance Alliance factions to sit and discuss the battle that had occurred in District 13 a few days ago.

Zhou Yuan’s mission was simple: occupy these faction leaders so they would not interfere with Yu Yuan’s next moves.

If anything happened, Zhou Yuan would notify Yu Yuan imdiately.

With this final arrangent, the whole eastern district was set.

The Aurora Animal Assistance Association was now trapped.

"Zhi Zhi, are you sure the plague won't kill anyone?"

Zhi Zhi's voice sounded in Yu Yuan's head.

"Master, rest assured. I adjusted the plague specifically. Once the infected lose consciousness, the plague's progression will imdiately halt. It keeps them combat-ineffective without endangering their lives."

"That's good!" Yu Yuan had been most worried about that.

The research personnel of the Aurora Animal Assistance Association were the primary targets of this operation.

They could not be hard.

At 5 p.m., night had fully fallen.

Yu Yuan, with Mie Mie and Zhi Zhi, arrived in District 11 and soon joined up with the waiting Jackal squad.

"King!" The Jackal squad assembled.

Not far off, the outline of Johnck Zoo lood.

Yu Yuan looked at the group and said quietly, "Let's go. Let's see our city’s most mysterious and powerful enemy."

With that he strode forward, like a sovereign in the dark.

"Yes!"

The Jackal squad fell into formation behind Yu Yuan, following closely.
