Lin Mu watched the cart disappear.
"They seem happy to leave," Little Bull muttered.
Xukong chuckled within his mind. "Perhaps they fear you’ll remember another unfinished form."
Lin Mu almost laughed. Instead, he turned around and headed toward the living quarters. His first task was simple, he needed proper robes. Lin Mu had realized his mistake after reaching the Fifth Janitorial Division earlier.
Walking around in Little Bull’s old village clothes had caused the servants to assume he was a porter, and while the misunderstanding had ultimately helped him gather useful information, he did not want the same problem happening everywhere he went.
Thankfully, the Wild Peak wardrobe was exactly where he remembered.
Lin Mu entered the enormous storage chamber and once again found himself staring at the ridiculous mountain of robes stored within. Shelves stretched across the chamber, holding what seemed like endless piles of clothing in every possible size.
Some robes were made for people of ordinary stature, while others looked large enough to clothe giants. Little Bull walked between the shelves until he found a section containing robes suitable for his current body.
The Wild Peak robes were remarkably simple.
They were made from durable dark fabric reinforced with several basic formation patterns. There were no elaborate golden borders, no flowing sleeves, and no plicated decorations. The only symbol identifying the wearer as a member of the Wild Peak was an embroidered image upon the chest.
It depicted a mountain covered in trees. That was all.
Lin Mu stared at it for several seconds.
"Very appropriate," he muttered.
Xukong laughed. "What were you expecting? A roaring dragon wrapped around a celestial mountain?"
"Considering High Elder Shatter Peak, I expected a fist punching through a mountain."
"Perhaps they considered that too plicated."
Lin Mu changed into the robes and looked at himself.
The clothing fit Little Bull’s broad body surprisingly well. The sleeves were slightly loose around his arms, and the fabric stretched fortably across his chest. Lin Mu moved his shoulders several times before nodding in satisfaction.
At least now he looked like an actual disciple. With that done, Lin Mu considered his next step. High Elder Shatter Peak was unavailable and the other elders were scattered around the mountain.
Lin Mu still needed a reasonable excuse for his cultivation progress.
"The library," Lin Mu decided.
The administrative disciples had already remended several basic body tempering manuals.
Even if Lin Mu had no intention of actually cultivating those techniques, he still needed to visit the library and obtain one. Later, when people asked how Little Bull had begun learning body cultivation, he could simply point toward the manual.
Besides, Lin Mu was genuinely curious.
The Wild Peak belonged to one of the greatest sects in the Eastern Immortal Court. Its body cultivators were clearly powerful, and even the ordinary Inner Court disciples Lin Mu had seen possessed astonishing vitality.
There had to be valuable techniques stored within their library. Perhaps some might even give Lin Mu inspiration for his own techniques. Finding the library turned out to be easier than expected.
Lin Mu encountered a Wild Peak disciple carrying a massive stone pillar upon his shoulder and simply asked him where it was.
"Library?" the disciple repeated.
Little Bull nodded and the man pointed toward the northern side of the mountain.
"Go north until you see three trees growing from the same rock. Turn left. Keep walking until you find a cliff shaped like a broken tooth. Jump down two levels and look for a cave."
Little Bull stared at him and the disciple stared back.
"...Can you say that again?"
The disciple sighed and repeated the instructions more slowly. Little Bull nodded several times before heading away. It still took him nearly an hour to find the place. The Wild Peak’s mountain was simply enormous, and its terrain was everything except convenient.
Lin Mu crossed several streams, climbed down two cliffs, passed through a grove of trees large enough to hide an entire town, and narrowly avoided walking into the territory of a sleeping bear beast.
Eventually, he found the cave.
Lin Mu stood before it and frowned. "This is the library?"
The cave looked pletely ordinary.
Its entrance was barely five meters tall and partially hidden behind hanging vines. Moss covered the surrounding rocks, and there were no signs, guards, or formation banners identifying the location.
If Lin Mu had not received directions, he would have walked past it without giving the cave a second glance.
"Perhaps the Wild Peak considers signs unnecessary," Xukong mented.
"That seems likely." Lin Mu entered.
The corridor immediately began descending into the mountain.
Night Pearls had been embedded into the walls at regular intervals, filling the passage with gentle white light. The floor was plain stone and slightly uneven, though Lin Mu could see signs that countless feet had walked across it over the years.
He continued deeper and deeper as ten minutes passed. Then twenty.
Lin Mu raised his brows. "How far does this go?"
As such he kept walking. By the time Lin Mu estimated he had traveled nearly an entire kilometer into the mountain, the corridor finally ended. What appeared before him made him stop.
A colossal gate stood within the mountain. It was easily three hundred meters tall.
The gate stretched from the floor to the distant ceiling, its massive stone doors covered entirely in formation runes. Thousands of patterns intertwined across its surface, creating layers upon layers of formations.
Lin Mu’s eyes immediately sharpened. Even without using his immortal sense, he could recognize several defensive arrays. There were sealing formations, Spatial stabilization arrays, Preservation formations, Fire suppression arrays and several formations Lin Mu could not immediately identify.
"This is certainly more impressive than the entrance," Lin Mu muttered.
The difference was almost ridiculous. Outside was an ordinary cave hidden behind vines. Inside was a gate large enough for an ancient giant to walk through. Lin Mu approached slowly.
There was still no guard, elder or even a librarian. Nothing at all.
