"When are they going to get here?" Ramon asked, feeling exhausted from all the waiting.

"They should be here soon." Marco said, slurping on his Chinese takeout noodles they had ordered.

Everyone else was having those noodles.

For a kidnapping, they sure were relaxed and the hostage was playing cards with the leader.

If they were caught like this, then they were definitely finished, but luckily, they put soone on watch duty.

"Can’t believe we’re spending New Year’s Eve eating take-out noodles," Ramon grumbled.

"Would you rather have pizza?" Marco asked and they laughed.

"You know what I an." Ramon barked at them.

"It’s almost midnight, isn’t it? It’s nearly the new year." One of the rogues asked. "Are you sure that Alpha is coming? He has a very important event. Can he really afford to miss it?"

"Just shut your trap, he’ll co." Ramon barked at him. "We already got the response from Rhaeger, didn’t we? They’re coming."

"Wow, but I still find it hard to believe that the Blue Moon Pack has such an Alpha that differs." Marco said.

"When you see him with your own eyes, you’ll have no choice but to believe." Michael proudly said.

"But... how did you change him?" Soone suddenly asked Michael and he looked up at him. "I an, it’s not easy to undo such deep-rooted brainwashing, is it?"

"Well, I don’t know either." Michael said. "One mont, we were living like the other didn’t matter. I swear, I saw Noah as a sick burden cause I didn’t know who he was and he was always sticking his nose in my business."

Just reminiscing on the past made it so hard to believe that they got to this point from there.

"He even gave a scar on my elbow, haha. It’s all thanks to his nosiness."

"Hm, an Alpha being nosy? Very hard to imagine."

"He lost his mories." Michael said. Honestly, this wasn’t sothing he should just say to the rogues all willy-nilly, but... He wanted to talk about it.

Maybe then he would feel better because, in his heart, right at that mont, he felt like a puddle of water that had been stagnant for days.

"Because he lost his mories, he was desperate to use any thod to survive. All he knew was that people were chasing him and he was an Alpha. Hell, I had no idea there were such things as werewolves in the world before he ca into my life." He said and laughed. "And I couldn’t be bothered since I was already living a shitty life that was just waiting to end, haha. I was so ssed up."

He looked at the cards in his hand and drew one.

"I thought my life would only get more shitty from there since I had another burden but surprisingly, it got better. Not better better but it didn’t fall to worse, at least."

His voice was soft and lancholic, as he recalled the way he acted, the agony in his heart, and how deeply he wanted to just give up.

"I’d be dead by now if it wasn’t for Noah." He muttered softly. "And likewise him. But if you ask from what ti he started changing..." he paused, thinking lightly, and then laughed. "It should be from the point I punched him across the face."

"What?"

They looked at him, surprised.

"He was acting like a robot. A jerk, in fact. He was avoiding and tried his best not to talk to . I was already feeling the effects of the mark he gave without knowing, so I felt miserable, desperate, and wanted his attention. Even if I had to annoy him till he got mad, I would do anything, but even that didn’t work until I actually hit him. It was at that point, he decided I was worth talking to."

"Wow, what a jerk." Marco exclaid.

"Right?" Michael laughed. "Haha, but then he told he was avoiding because he was feeling his rut coming in."

"His rut?" They asked and Michael nodded.

"Yeah. And according to him, he didn’t want to ’hurt’ and do sothing he would regret so he chose to stay away from as well as starve so he wouldn’t have the strength to pin down if he did go mad." Michael picked up more cards and then dropped them. "Checkmate."

The leader wasn’t even paying attention to the ga anymore. He was more focused on Michael’s story.

"So, how did you guys tackle that issue?" Luke asked, one of the rogues. "Did you let him...?"

"Well, the rut he was so worried about didn’t actually co." Michael said. "I told him I didn’t care if he would go into a rut, turn into a beast, and climb into my bed in the middle of the night, haha." He laughed, covering his mouth. "I just wanted us to live normally. If the rut did co, we would tackle it sohow."

"Wow, that’s so brave of ya." The leader said. "Do you know how violent Alphas can be when they’re in a rut, especially with their mate?"

"Of course I know. I’ve experienced it firsthand." Michael shalessly said. "But it wasn’t even that bad. I enjoyed the lot of it."

The rogues gulped. Michael was bold. Too bold, in fact. He should hold back if he didn’t want to run into a group of scary people.

"Anyway, when his rut did co, I was the one who seduced him. One thing led to another and then boom." He laughed so more.

It was a laughing matter that it was the past, but he rembered how much he cried because of the issue with his brother before Noah actually helped him clear the aphrodisiac from his system.

The rut was indeed splendid. He could feel his insides being squashed like they were being pounded by a pestle on a mortar. As much as it should’ve hurt, it felt so exhilarating, mixing in each other’s heat and scent and having each other’s fluids dripping on each other.

What he would give to feel that again.

"Hey, Michael, you have to get a hold of yourself." Doctor Ro said and Michael snapped out of it.

He didn’t realize it, but he was exuding an unnecessarily pleasant intoxicating scent that even the rogues were uncomfortable with.

"Oh, sorry." He imdiately apologized and bowed his head.

He ssed up. He let his guard down too much and forgot that even though they agreed to work with them, they were still n... They were rogues who were famous for following their desires, violent and irrational.

What if they suddenly got enticed by his scent and got so excited that they decided to have him there and then, throwing out the corporation?

"I’m really sorry. I... I’ll go stand over there." He said and hurried towards the other end of the building.

He feared even looking at their faces. He didn’t want to know what kind of expressions they had on their faces. If they were unknowingly dancing in the scent that he spread, or if they were disgusted instead.

Whatever it was, he didn’t want to see.

They were already having a great thing going for them, and he didn’t want to ruin it.

"Jeez, I almost had a heart attack just now." Ramon said.

"Are you sure it was a heart attack? You were nearly intoxicated." Marco said.

"Why you... That’s impossible."

The leader looked in Michael’s direction. The scent was definitely sweet. So, this was the scent of a female that only Alphas could have?

No, other werewolves could have females but he had never caught a scent as sweet as this from a regular female. The ones that bore the mark of Alphas were definitely different.

Like a fine and reserved al dedicated only to the taste of the rich.

"You need to be more careful." Doctor Ro said, walking towards Michael.

"Yeah, sorry." Michael said, gripping his shirt tight. He was wearing a coat that had been provided by Doctor Ro who went to check up on Alyssa’s condition before returning.

Alyssa was fine. In fact, she had woken up but that was the problem.

That girl was always in full spirit.

She would’ve created a ss of the whole plan if he hadn’t found a way to calm her down. Well, her boss was the one who told her to calm down and it was being settled.

But her ego should have been squashed knowing she couldn’t do anything. They could settle that issue later.

Michael stared at the yacht and the lights around it. It looked like the party was in full swing.

It was already this late and Noah still hadn’t shown up.

Michael hoped nothing bad would happen on his way here. He hoped Rhaeger was completely fooled and decided to go ahead with this dubious plan that would backfire.

Roland stared at him. That sad expression on his face.

A mont ago, he was smiling and laughing so much as he reminisced about the past, but now that he was alone, now that he was facing reality and once again realizing that his future would be one without Noah.

He would be on his own.

The reason for his laughter would be far from him by several kiloters once this was over.

Roland sighed, brushed the back of his hair, and then looked at the ship.

"At least..." He spoke up and Michael looked at him. "You’ll get to spend the new year with him."

Michael’s eyes glistened as he heard this and then his gaze softened, smiling lightly.

"Yeah, that’s one thing." He said, brushing his hair over his ear. "It’s one wish co true."
