At the site where Reon had slaughtered Niu Ling’s n, the air still reeked of dried blood and death.

A group of twenty elite cultivators, clad in deep blue robes emblazoned with the Miu Family crest, stood in a loose formation.

At their center was Elder Miu Bin, a stern old man with a long, silver beard and piercing eyes, flanked by the captains of Squad Four and Squad Six—Miu Lin and Miu Jin.

"So... this is where the last signal of Young Master Miu Jiang was traced?" Elder Bin asked, his voice sharp and weathered with age.

"Yes, Elder," replied Captain Miu Lin, bowing respectfully. "The Tracking Talisman embedded in his Spatial Ring led us here."

Elder Bin wrinkled his nose and raised a hand to cover it, his face twisting in distaste. "Ugh... This place reeks of blood."

Miu Jin, crouching down and brushing his fingers along a dried sar of crimson on the ground, spoke up, "It’s not just the Young Master. Many have died here. Judging from the blood trails and scorch marks, it wasn’t a simple fight."

Elder Bin’s gaze darkened.

"I see... Everyone, spread out and search the area. If you find any trace of Young Master Miu Jiang’s remains or any clues about the killer, report imdiately."

"Yes, Elder!" the elites echoed, saluting before scattering across a two-kiloter radius, vanishing into the trees with swift, silent movents.

An hour passed. Slowly, they returned one by one.

"Elder Bin," said a mber of Squad Four, bowing, "we searched the periter thoroughly... but there’s no trace."

"Sa here," another reported.

Then one voice stood out.

"Elder, I found sothing," said a younger cultivator, stepping forward with a solemn face.

Elder Bin’s eyes narrowed. "Speak. What is it?"

"A severed head... and a headless corpse," the man said. "Judging by his gear, he was likely an adventurer."

Elder Bin waved a dismissive hand. "Irrelevant. Our concern is with Miu Jiang. Anything else?"

Captain Miu Lin stepped forward with a grim expression.

"Elder, we’ve scoured every inch of this area. There’s nothing—no signs of bodies, no graves. Only dried blood remains. Whoever did this... erased everything else."

Just then, another voice cut in—

"Wait. I found sothing," Miu Jin said, rising from the edge of the clearing.

Elder Bin turned, his gaze sharp. "Tell , Miu Jin. And this ti, it better not be another useless clue."

"It’s Young Master Miu Jiang’s Spatial Ring," Miu Jin said, holding up the object with a grim face.

"The formation lock in the ring wasn’t broken—it simply vanished, as if it was never there. Everything inside was looted... except for the Tracking Talisman—and this note."

"Hmm... the killer is ticulous," Elder Miu Bin murmured, stepping forward with a cold glint in his eyes. "Let see the note."

"Yes, Elder. Here it is," Miu Jin said respectfully, handing it over.

Elder Miu Bin unfolded the bloodstained parchnt. Scrawled in bold, mocking letters across the center were the words:

FUCK YOU, IDIOTS.

A vein pulsed furiously on Miu Bin’s temple as his fingers clenched, crushing the paper in his grip.

"This insolent bastard..." he hissed, his voice trembling with rage.

"Search the entire forest if you have to—find the one who did this," he commanded coldly. "When I find him... I’ll rip that smug mouth off his face with my bare hands."

"Yes, Elder!" the elites chorused.

Just then, a faint shimr pulsed inside Elder Miu Bin’s Spatial Ring.

He reached in and withdrew a Grade-5 Direct Contact Talisman, already glowing with incoming transmission.

He brought it to his lips and spoke calmly—despite the fury simring beneath his skin.

"Yes, Elder Miu Shen. What is it?"

From the other side, Elder Miu Shen, who was stationed at the Supre Dao Sect within Niu Ling’s residence, responded.

He had arrived to investigate the circumstances surrounding Miu Jiang’s death—and had been given the full truth, albeit reluctantly, by Niu Ling himself.

To avoid further conflict, Niu Ling played his hand carefully. He allowed Elder Miu Shen to hear the recorded voice transmission between Reon and himself.

In return, they reached a private agreent: the death of Miu Jiang would be overlooked... if Niu Ling handed over the unawakened Legendary-Lineage Beast as compensation.

A dangerous trade—but Niu Ling had ulterior motives.

"We’ve identified the culprit," Miu Shen’s voice crackled through the talisman. "He’s the one who killed Young Master Miu Jiang... along with several other heirs from noble families."

Miu Bin’s eyes narrowed. "W-What? Who is it? Tell his na—now!"

A soft chuckle followed. "Heh... Seems like this brat’s gotten under your skin, Elder Bin."

"Yeah, very much so!" Miu Bin growled through clenched teeth.

"There’s no need for a na—you wouldn’t recognize him by that alone anyway. I’m sending over the voice recording between him and Young Master Niu Ling... along with an image."

"I’ve confird he entered Greenhood Forest on a mission. Take your squads and head there imdiately. And be careful—one of his Legendary Beasts has awakened its bloodline."

"I’ll be joining you shortly with my own squad."

"Understood," Miu Bin replied, his voice low and deadly.

The call ended.

A few monts later, the talisman pulsed again—this ti displaying a holographic image of a young man, and imdiately afterward, the audio of Reon’s conversation with Niu Ling played out in full clarity.

Elder Miu Bin listened, his face hardening with each passing second.

"Hehe... I see. That bastard’s quite arrogant... daring to threaten Young Master Niu Ling while still in the Zhenou Kingdom."

"And he even has two Legendary-Lineage Beasts? Maybe... he used those monsters to kill Young Master Miu Jiang as well."

He gazed at the image, burning it into mory.

His expression twisted into one of icy resolve.

"So... he’s in this Greenhood Forest... just you wait, little brat. I’ll find you... soon enough. No one can save you... from ."

He turned with sudden intensity, thrusting the image toward the captains.

"Everyone, morize this face. Spread out and search every corner of this forest. I want him alive if possible—but dead works just fine."

"Yes, Elder!" they responded in unison, their formation breaking like a wave as they dispersed into the trees with practiced precision.

...

Near the hidden base of the Iron Howl Bandits, their group leader—who had cowardly fled, abandoning his comrades—was sprinting for his life.

Panic surged through his spine like a freezing current.

He stumbled through the underbrush, breath ragged, eyes wide and bloodshot with terror.

"Hahh... Hahh... That bastard... he’s far stronger than . If I’d stayed back there... I’d be dead at by now."

"That dark energy in his hand... It wasn’t ordinary Spiritual Qi. No... it was denser. And that strange color—damn it, it must’ve been so kind of... Aura.

I have to alert the Gang Leader imdiately... or every last one of us will be slaughtered!"

But then—

A mocking voice drifted from behind him.

"Heh... You sure run fast for a bandit. Guess that’s what they an by ’running with your tail between your legs,’ huh?"

The bandit’s heart skipped a beat.

Behind him, calmly striding forward, was Reon, his expression unreadable save for the cruel smirk tugging at his lips.

"I’m not in the mood for a chase anymore. Maybe it’s ti I try out my new ability," Reon said, his voice cool, casual—chilling.

Raising his gloved hand, he channeled a steady stream of Spiritual Qi into the fabric. The runes on the back of the glove started to glow with a soft light.

"Shadow Thread!"

From each of his ten fingertips, a thread—thin as a strand of hair and black as midnight—unraveled soundlessly into the air.

The strands shimred faintly, barely visible even to a trained eye.

"Good... It worked. Let’s see how sharp you are," Reon whispered.

Swoosh!

With a flick of his wrist, the ten threads shot forward—serpentine, swift, and silent.

Whoosh!

Thud!

The fleeing bandit was suddenly yanked off his feet and slamd into the ground, bound in a crisscrossing snare of thread.

"W-What?! What the hell just happened?!" the man shrieked, thrashing. "I—I can’t move!"

He craned his neck desperately, looking behind, but there was nothing visible—no ropes, no chains.

Just Reon, calmly approaching with unhurried steps.

’So this is Shadow Thread,’ Reon mused. ’Impressive. Still... I wonder if I can slice a man apart with it.’

He channeled more Spiritual Qi through the threads. They pulsed darker, sharper—hardening with his will.

Then—

He pulled.

"AGHHHHHHHH!"

The bandit’s scream tore through the forest like a dying animal’s last wail.

His limbs contorted unnaturally. Blood vessels burst. Flesh shredded. Bones cracked.

And then—

RIPPP!

His entire body split apart in a spray of blood and gore, torn like paper in the wind.

Chunks of flesh and shredded muscle splattered across the clearing. His severed limbs dropped to the forest floor with wet thuds, staining the earth crimson.

Reon stood over the grotesque remains, eyes calm.

"Ahh~ now that was satisfying." His voice was a low, breathy murmur.

He turned toward the distant shadows ahead—toward the base that still harbored dozens more.

His voice was quiet, but carried like a death sentence on the wind:

"Now then... it’s ti the rest of the scum received my greetings."
