"You are the companions of this man?"
Standing in front of Malaya, was a tall man with dark hair and glistening dark eyes. And he was wearing a white long robe with light blue linings. He was sitting on a huge throne with intricate golden designs. He really gave off the feeling of soone like a king with great authority and high status in life.
"Yes," Malaya smiled wryly as she gave a side glance at her right side, to Kayden who was captivated by multiple wearing the sa robes. And there were other white-cloaked n, who were surrounding them.
'Malaya what shall we do? I didn't expect we would et the high priest like this.' Lila whispered beside her.
'So he is the high priest, huh?'
'How did this all happen?'
It happened just half an hour after they were captivated by people. Malaya and Lila just finished their lodrama when people with multiple robes entered Lila's house. They told them or more like they demanded to co with them at once. And now they were in District 1, in front of the high priest that Lila kept ntioning and giving high praises before for building a city and uniting everyone in the desolate Abyss.
So back to the present, Malaya maintained her smile, looking calmly at the high priest.
"Your excellency," Malaya gave a short bow that surprised the high priest a little.
'The way she moves and her manner of speech, is she noble?'
Malaya glanced up towards him. "May I ask, what my companion had done in order to be captivated like this?"
'She's quite a beauty with those dark blue hair and light blue eyes. So these are the two champions that Evereen ntioned to . Are they a transmigrator like , or people of this world?' Then, the high priest started to say, "I was on patrol in district 12 when soone quickly stole my bag that contained a lot of high-quality gold. When my n ran after him, your companion had already had the bag and was talking with the culprit. If you are his companions then it ans both of you must be their accomplice."
'What a straight-up liar.' Malaya smiled and didn't falter. "Your excellency, with all due respect, the one who built and united all these people in the city. I didn't know that you could be this petty."
Malaya heard multiple gasps.
"You dare badmouth his excellency!" The knight that was on the right side of the high priest, was already holding at the helm of his sword. But the high priest gestured with his hands and stopped the knight while shaking his head. "Don't bother, It's alright, Roa."
'How benevolent,' Malaya rolled her eyes inside her mind.
"Malaya, why are you speaking like that?" Lila whispered with Malaya with worry. " You must speak properly or else we're gonna die in just a few seconds."
"Lila," Malaya patted her shoulders then leaned closer. "Still rember all the things I told you about myself? I know what I'm doing." She whispered then faced the high priest back.
"Petty, you say?" The high priest said with an amused expression on his face.
"Indeed, your excellency," Malaya said. 'I thought he would snap with my words. But I guess, he is not the founder of the city for nothing. Though, the black knight beside him is giving hard and deadly glares.'
"Now tell who had blue hair. How did I beco petty, when all these pieces of evidence were very clear to everyone? Are you saying I lied?"
"Your excellency, you can call Malaya. Your grandeur and splendor of uniting everyone in this city, everyone knows it. If you say that a re thief was able to pass you and among the elite guards that were surrounding you, you must have told a joke." Malaya explained
'To brush this problem as a joke, this girl was quite quick-witted and knows her grounds very well.' The high priest sighed. 'It's not like I want to cause them trouble even if they are champions of other gods. Though I still don't know their intentions for coming here, it's already quite frightening how they will be able to reason this out without resorting to violence compared to other champions. and the good-looking guy with her,' the high priest looked at Kayden. 'My intuition is telling that there is a high probability that he will cause so trouble here at my place if I don't wrap up things as soon as possible. With those red bloody eyes, he looked like soone who could be the demon king in the future.'
The high priest gave a hefty laugh. "Well, pretty mind. Yes, everything is just a joke. I apologize if this causes the three of you so discomfort. Please let him go, they are our esteed guests."
"It's alright, your excellency, and I apologize for calling you petty just earlier," Malaya said and gave a short bow. "But this indeed caused us so discomfort. I know how benevolent and excellent the high priest is, if you don't mind may I ask if we could have so compensation."
"Compensation?" The high priest started to get nervous and he held his chair tightly.'Crap! Did I fall into my own trap, that I set?'
"Yes, you're highness," Malaya said with a grin. 'Since it cos to this, let's just take advantage of the situation now. "Will you grant us so compensation to ease our worries of being dragged like this?'
'She's quite the sly one.'
"Then, as long as it was within my capabilities and didn't cause any harm to anyone, the three of you could ask anything you wanted."
"Your excellency, there is no," Lila, who was startled by the high priest's words, was going to protest. But Malaya stopped her and whispered to her. 'This is the best opportunity for you, Lila. Take this chance to request to visit the gravestone of your master.'
'Malaya,' a warm sensation filled inside Lila. 'Did she do this just for ?'
"Thank you for your generosity, your excellency," Malaya said with a grin on her face. "Do not be concerned, my request was very simple. May I ask to choose any item that you possess or in your treasury? That's all I wanted."
Multiple gasps resounded in the whole room once again.
'Is her agenda, is sothing that I possess?' The high priest narrowed his gaze as he contemplated Malaya's request. 'Well, there is nothing important that I passed aside from the treasures that I gathered when I arrived in this world. But what could she probably want from ?I know that she already has it in her mind. These won in front of are not just the others or ordinary, there is sothing with her.'
"You want sothing that I possess?" The high priest asked again for confirmation.
"Yes, your excellency," Malaya said with elegance in her voice.
Multiple gasps and now whispers of ridicule targeting Malaya resounded in the room, but Malaya remained unfazed as her eyes were fixated on the high priest who seed thinking of what she just said.
"Alright, Very well," The high priest finally spoke after a mont of contemplation. "I am the one who will guide you to my treasury, tomorrow morning."
"Thank you, your excellency. It was indeed an honor for us." Malaya gave a short bow. Her grin only grew bigger. 'Finally, I don't think that this will be easy. But I should not let my guard down just in case.'
Then the high priest turned to Lila and Kayden. "Then the both of you, may I ask what you wanted as compensation?"
Lila glanced at Malaya nervously.
"Go, tell him," Malaya encouraged her.'
"Then your excellency, if you don't mind, as a loyal citizen of this city, I want to have your permission to beco Lady Malaya's servant."
Malaya was surprised to hear Lila's words. But Lila was determined as she looked at the high priest.
"What did you just say, her servant? Do you know what you are saying, it ans you will need to have a life and death contract and serve this lady for the rest of her life? Are you sure that you want to be her servant?"
"Yes, highness, I'm completely aware of that. I am willing to serve Malaya until my last breath." Lila was looking directly at the high priest confidently. While Malaya was just looking at her trying to process everything on her mind.
' Lila, why did you do this?' Malaya thought while looking at Lila.
' After all the things that you said to Malaya, I beca more interested to be part of your journey. That is why I want to be at your side not just as a servant but as a real friend. I will offer my life to protect and serve you.' Lila thought.
"Hmm interesting, as I can see you look determined to serve her. Then if that is your desire, don't worry I will give you my all permission. I will prepare the necessary papers tomorrow. Then what about you?" The high priest this ti looked at Kayden.
Kayden gave him a cold look before speaking.. "I want to repair our weapons and so items and a certain door and room," and as expected with his face it was poker as always.
