The process of transferring the sleep-inducing potion through a kiss actually went wrong. Before he could pass everything, she punched him in the gut and he choked on the rest of the potion, mistakenly ingesting it himself.

THAT was why he now woke up after an unknown amount of ti of being unconscious, and the first thing he saw was a pair of red eyes gazing at him intently from uncomfortably close range. As his vision cleared, he could make out strands of purple hair falling across his face.

"You’re alive," Jenny said matter-of-factly, then moved back to give him so breathing room. He could now see the pink ceiling above him—clearly, he was on her side of the room.

"Ugh," he groaned, attempting to sit up, but she imdiately pushed him back down with surprising firmness.

"Don’t get up yet. Your arms are still growing back," she said, as if this was the most normal thing in the world.

That had to be the most bizarre sentence he’d ever heard. He was just about to ask her what she ant when it suddenly hit him—a pain so intense he nearly passed out again.

"Tsk, see? I told you," she said with the satisfaction of soone who’d just been proven right about sothing terrible.

He bit his lips hard enough to draw blood, trying to ground himself against the overwhelming agony, but it was useless. The pain just kept intensifying, waves of it crashing over him relentlessly.

Forcing his eyes open, he took in the damage. His shorts had been burned up to his thighs, and the sleeves of his shirt were completely gone. His legs appeared to be intact, but his arms... his arms were literally regrowing. He could see new tissue forming where there had been nothing but stumps.

"Just what exactly happened here?" ca another voice—definitely not Jenny’s.

"Well... he made so weird soup... actually, that wasn’t even soup. He made so stupid concoction, and I ended up drinking it," Jenny replied, her tone suggesting this was a perfectly reasonable explanation.

"He made you drink it?" the other girl pressed.

"Um... I an... sort of," Jenny said, shalessly deflecting the bla onto Asher, who was too busy dealing with excruciating pain to participate in their conversation.

"Wait, so his potion made you nearly kill him?" the girl asked again, clearly trying to piece together this ss.

"Ugh... no, I an, it was part of the main reasons," Jenny admitted reluctantly.

"So what made you do it?" the girl insisted, then added with obvious concern, "You’re lucky he didn’t bleed out before I got here. You literally dismbered him, Jenny."

Jenny looked away, suddenly finding the destroyed room very interesting. "It’s not that bad," she muttered, crossing her arms defensively.

"Not that bad? Really?" The girl’s voice rose incredulously. "Well, enlighten —what exactly do you consider bad? Because if two missing arms and legs isn’t considered bad, I honestly don’t know what is."

"Alright, fine! Maybe I went a bit overboard," Jenny conceded, though her tone suggested she still didn’t think it was that serious.

The other girl just stared at her with a blank expression that could have frozen fire.

"FINE! He forcefully kissed , damn it!" Jenny finally exploded, as if those words were complete justification for nearly murdering soone. In a way, given Jenny’s personality, they probably were.

"Really?!" The girl’s eyes widened in surprise, and she looked down at Asher, whose face had at least finished healing.

"Yes, the bastard actually did it. I still can’t believe it happened," Jenny said, covering her face in sha. "His disgusting lips t mine! Kyaaaa!" She shook her head furiously, as if trying to physically remove the mory from her brain.

"But... that shouldn’t warrant almost killing him! Just look at this face—who wouldn’t want to be kissed by those lips?" The words hit Jenny like a slap to the chest. "Clare?" she asked, eyes narrowing dangerously.

"Don’t tell you’ve fallen for his disgusting charms. It’s all fake! Look, how can soone be this handso naturally? He’s obviously doing sothing artificial to look this good," Jenny said, and Clare considered those words for exactly one second before thinking, What does it matter?

She was, like so many others, completely hopeless when it ca to a pretty face.

"You’re not listening to a word I’m saying, are you?" Jenny, who had been giving her a long sermon about all the reasons she should avoid soone as fake as Asher, suddenly stopped when she caught the outright lecherous gaze Clare was giving their patient.

"Clare, he’s literally awake and aware. At least try to hide the fact that you’re a pervert," Jenny said in exasperation.

"So what if he knows? It’s not like he wouldn’t want a taste of—" Clare began, but Jenny cut her off.

"Just shut up," she sighed, rubbing her forehead. "And be quick with the healing so you can get the hell out of my room."

"Hey! Don’t make it seem like I ca here on my own. I’m not holess, you know. You literally begged to be here," Clare protested.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. So what do you want? I don’t need you rubbing it in my face every day," Jenny said, folding her arms.

"What do I want? Well, maybe a night with him," Clare said with a grin that was entirely too suggestive.

"Get out!" Jenny actually kicked her. Literally.

"Hey, I’m not done! Do you want him to be permanently crippled?" Clare tried to reason with her friend, but Jenny was having none of it.

"I can clearly see you’re just taking your sweet ti. You were done minutes ago. Now get out!"

"Damn, girl! At least be grateful I saved your ass. You would have been expelled if the authorities got here before ," Clare said as Jenny pushed her toward the door.

"And for that, I say thank you. Lunch is on for the whole week—that’s all the paynt you’re getting."

"Hey! I don’t need your bribes. Just let ask if he wants a taste of . I swear I’ll leave if he says no!" Clare tried to bargain, but Jenny was beyond reasoning.

BAM!

The door slamd shut with finality. Jenny took a deep breath, taking in the sight of her room. It was in complete ruins—most of the furniture was smashed, and sohow only her bed had survived the rampage.

"You could have at least heard my opinion," Asher forced out, now completely healed but still suffering from lingering pain.

"You don’t get to talk," Jenny snapped, picking up a pillow from near the door and hurling it at him.

"Okay, okay," he responded, not in the mood for any more pain. What he’d just endured was quite enough for one day.

"I would have said no, though," he suddenly added, and Jenny glared at him, her cheeks tinting red in a way he might never fully understand.

"WHY ARE YOU TELLING THAT?! IT’S NOT MY CONCERN!" She rushed forward and kicked him in the stomach.

"For crying out loud! Let heal up completely first!" he groaned, doubling over in pain and annoyance.

Jenny folded her arms triumphantly. "All of this was your fault in the first place. If you hadn’t cooked that weird soup, I wouldn’t have lost control. And if you hadn’t used that opportunity to take advantage of with those disgusting lips of yours, I wouldn’t have almost killed you."

He sighed deeply. "Don’t make it sound like I was dying to kiss you."

"Oh really? Then why did you suddenly act like the psycho you are and kiss , even when you were clearly hurt?" she asked, staring him directly in the eyes.

"That was a thod to calm you down. I was trying to get you to ingest a sleeping potion," he explained, and she blinked in confusion.

"What?" she said flatly.

"Yeah, but you punched , and I lost consciousness," he finished.

"So... that’s what that was," she muttered to herself, recalling the strange liquid she’d swallowed during the kiss. Having never kissed anyone before, she hadn’t known what to expect and had mistaken it for saliva, which had prompted her to punch him and beat the unconscious Asher nearly to death.

"Well, it seems the potion did nothing, but the kiss did bring you back," he said suddenly, and her face flushed as she rembered the feeling—how her brain had completely short-circuited when he kissed her. It had been literally the last thing she’d expected.

"Just shut up and sleep... or I’ll kick you out of my bed," she commanded, trying to regain so authority over the situation.

"Yes, ma’am," he said, closing his eyes. He would figure out the effects of the potion tomorrow. For today, he really just needed to sleep and let his body finish recovering from what had to be the most painful experience of his life.
