Chapter 25: The Class Reunion (Part 2)

Since the reunion was split evenly among attendees, they chose a five-star hotel for the gathering.

Lin Jia didn’t dress up for the occasion. Before she left, Ding Dian complained, “We bought all that stuff yesterday, and you’re not even going to show off a little?”

The mont she stepped outside, she spotted Yang Yu waiting for her at the door.

“The reunion allows plus-ones, right? Do I count as yours?” Yang Yu shalessly grinned.

“Let guess—Ding Dian told you? That café you gave her wasn’t for nothing, huh?” Lin Jia teased.

She had already found out about Yang Yu gifting Ding Dian the café. It was the kind of thing that couldn’t stay a secret for long.

Ding Dian’s explanation? Yang Yu did it just to get intel on Lin Jia.

Lin Jia hadn’t bothered to press further.

“So, do I count or not? I’m waiting for an answer—kinda urgently, too,” Yang Yu joked.

“Depends on how you behave. I’ll give you a chance—co pick up later,” Lin Jia said with a smirk before walking off.

She hadn’t given a definite yes, but Yang Yu knew that, barring any surprises, she was as good as his.

Lin Jia took a cab to the hotel, got the room number over the phone, and walked in.

The reunion wasn’t huge—only about a dozen people showed up. The rest either couldn’t be contacted or had been struggling in life and found excuses not to co.

Post-graduation reunions were like mini social battlegrounds. Those who attended were usually doing well for themselves.

Lin Jia had left ho at the last possible mont, and Yang Yu had delayed her a little, so she was one of the last to arrive.

The conversation was exactly what you’d expect—gossip.

Who was a nobody in college but had made it big? Who had been a campus star but was now jobless and struggling?

Who got married and had kids? Who beca soone’s mistress?

Soon, the conversation shifted to Lin Jia.

Back in college, she was practically the campus queen. Her admirers could have ford an entire battalion, and they weren’t just ordinary guys—there were rich kids and governnt officials’ sons among them. But she had chosen ng Yun, the broke one.

People had tried to talk her out of it, saying that the real world wasn’t like school—good looks wouldn’t pay the bills. But Lin Jia had stuck to her decision.

Ironically, a few years later, ng Yun had made it. He went from a poor student to a man with a car, a house, and his own company. He wasn’t a tycoon, but he had secured a solid middle-class status.

Back then, everyone admired Lin Jia’s foresight.

But ng Yun had only beco successful in the last couple of years, and now, they had broken up.

So people couldn’t help but gloat.

A female classmate chid in, “Did you guys hear? Lin Jia and ng Yun broke up.”

With that, the entire table turned its attention to Lin Jia.

“Yeah, I heard. But does anyone know why?” another asked.

“I bet ng Yun cheated. That’s just how n are when they get money,” soone speculated.

“Exactly. Even broke guys cheat. What makes you think ng Yun wouldn’t?” another person agreed.

“This kind of thing is unavoidable. Lin Jia should’ve just turned a blind eye. She’s not young anymore—she can’t just find another great catch so easily.”

The group kept discussing Lin Jia’s breakup, throwing around all kinds of guesses.

One of the male classmates asked, “Do you think Lin Jia bailed on us? Everyone who said they’d co is already here—except for her.”

Just then, a plain-looking guy who seed quiet and serious spoke up.

“If Lin Jia said she’s coming, then she’ll co. We’ve been classmates for years—you guys should know her character by now. And maybe we shouldn’t talk about her behind her back. Co on, let’s drink.”

A female classmate teased, “Wang Xin, don’t tell you still have feelings for Lin Jia?”

Wang Xin was the kind of guy who would get lost in a crowd—nothing about him stood out. But from freshman year, he had pursued Lin Jia. Unfortunately, she had never been interested. Even years after graduation, he still couldn’t let her go.

In fact, he was the one who had secretly pushed for this reunion.

He and Lin Jia hadn’t kept in touch, but he had always followed her updates. When he found out about her breakup with ng Yun, he felt like this was his chance. So, he reached out to mutual friends, convincing them to organize the gathering.

Hearing the teasing, Wang Xin blushed but didn’t deny it.

One of his buddies egged him on, “If you still like her, go after her! She just broke up—it’s a once-in-a-lifeti chance. Miss it, and your odds drop to zero.”

“Yeah, if you like her, chase her! What’s the worst that could happen?”

“Co on, don’t be shy.”

“We got your back, bro.”

His friends hyped him up, turning the reunion into a full-blown matchmaking mission.
