Chapter 47 You’re Killing , Jiang Lei, You Big Idiot!
“Goodbye, Teacher Qi!”
“Teacher Qi’s pronunciation is the most standard I’ve ever heard!”
“I’ll definitely co back tomorrow for your class!”
“Teacher Qi is amazing—not only is she beautiful, but she’s also so knowledgeable! I’ll introduce you to my son—he’s a top student at the University of California!”
As the three free English classes ended for the day, the students who had been attracted by the flyers praised Qi Xueyao non-stop as they left. They admired her beauty and her teaching skills.
Qi Xueyao, dressed in an elegant Chanel-style suit dress, smiled with joy—not because of their complints, but because many of them were likely to enroll and pay tuition tomorrow.
That ant…
The training center would finally start making money.
“We had 178 students attend the free trial today. If even half of them sign up, we’ll collect over 700 yuan per session! That’s thousands per day, tens of thousands per month—maybe even over a hundred thousand!”
After seeing off the students, Qi Xueyao was overjoyed, already imagining the kind of success her training center would achieve. She wasn’t just excited about the money—it was about having financial independence.
If she had her own money, she could stand up to Qi Lin. She could move out of his house whenever they fought, and she wouldn’t have to tolerate his nonsense anymore.
Standing beside her, her future boyfriend, Jiang Lei, was feeling a little jealous.
“Xueyao, when you start making money, you won’t forget our promise, right?”
Qi Xueyao blinked in confusion.
“Why would you say that?”
“Didn’t you say that once our training company is up and running, you’d agree to be my girlfriend?”
“Yeah, but—”
“But that aunt just said she wants to introduce you to her son! He’s a University of California graduate, while I only graduated from Huake University. He’s from a wealthy family, and I… well, I’m just an ordinary guy.”
Jiang Lei sighed, looking a little insecure.
Hearing this, Qi Xueyao felt annoyed yet amused.
“What do you take for? Do you think I’m so shallow gold-digger who changes her mind for money? That guy might be a genius, but he’s not my type! And stop putting yourself down—Huake University is just as good as any international school!”
She crossed her arms and glared at him.
“Jiang Lei, you don’t seem like yourself lately. Where’s the confident, ambitious guy I knew? Why are you losing morale so soon after we just started?”
Jiang Lei had only been testing her. After all, Qi Xueyao wasn’t his girlfriend yet.
And they weren’t married, either.
What if, one day, she left him for soone better? But now that she had reassured him, he let out a relieved laugh.
“I was just joking! Let’s not talk about that. You’ve been teaching all day—you must be starving. I’ll treat you to dinner to make up for my dumb comnt.”
“Hmph. Fine, I’ll let you off this ti.”
Qi Xueyao rolled her beautiful eyes, pretending to be annoyed.
______
But suddenly, a thought popped into her mind. She recalled the luxurious als she’d had at Qi Lin’s house—Lobster, king crab, Spanish ham, wagyu beef, tempura…
Compared to that, what could Jiang Lei afford to buy?
They were still in the startup phase, so he wasn’t rich yet. A dinner with Jiang Lei would probably be street food at best.
Ugh! Qi Xueyao, what are you thinking? Qi Lin’s food might be good, but staying at his house ans putting up with him! Jiang Lei is your future boyfriend—can’t you handle a little hardship?
Realizing she was overthinking, she shook her head hard, forcing herself back to reality.
The two of them laughed and chatted as they walked out of the classroom. But then,a figure suddenly appeared in front of them.
Jiang Lei didn’t recognize the man. But the mont Qi Xueyao saw him, her smile froze, and her face went pale.
Jiang Lei noticed her reaction and asked curiously, “Xueyao, do you know him?”
Before Qi Xueyao could answer, the stranger stepped forward with a big grin.
Throwing an arm around Jiang Lei’s shoulder, he said cheerfully, “Brother-in-law! Nice to et you! Let introduce myself—I’m Qi Lin, Xueyao’s little brother from the sa village.”
_____
Jiang Lei was caught off guard. But the mont he heard Qi Lin call him ‘brother-in-law,’ his heart swelled with pride. Damn, that felt good.
“Oh! So you’re Xueyao’s little brother? She’s ntioned you before. She’s staying at your house right now, right?”
Jiang Lei laughed, completely unaware of the complicated history between Qi Lin and Qi Xueyao.
Qi Xueyao had indeed talked about Qi Lin before—But never in a good way.
She had described him as a lazy, good-for-nothing rich kid. But now, eting Qi Lin in person, Jiang Lei actually found him… likable.
_____
If I were rich, I’d be a lazy rich kid too! Why work when you don’t have to?
Maybe Xueyao just doesn’t like people who aren’t ambitious. That’s why she doesn’t like her little brother.
Jiang Lei thought to himself, finding Qi Lin’s attitude amusing.
“Xueyao always said you were a top student from Huake University, brother-in-law. Now that I see you in person, I have to say—it’s true! You look like a real scholar! Not quite as handso as , but still pretty impressive.”
Qi Lin kept up his playful act, completely ignoring Qi Xueyao’s pale expression. Jiang Lei was loving the complints.
Scratching the back of his head, he asked, “Did Xueyao really say that about ?”
Qi Lin grinned.
“Of course! Would I lie?”
Jiang Lei laughed happily, feeling completely at ease.
“Xueyao and I were about to grab dinner. Why don’t you join us? Since you’re her cousin, we should have a proper drink together!”
_____
Qi Lin smiled mischievously.
“Sure, but before that, Xueyao’s parents asked to tell her sothing. Brother-in-law, could you give us a mont alone?”
Jiang Lei nodded imdiately.
“No problem! I need to go sort out today’s registration list anyway. You two talk first, then call when you’re done.”
Qi Xueyao’s heart dropped.
She desperately tried to signal Jiang Lei with her eyes, pleading for him to stay. But the fool didn’t get the ssage. After flashing them a carefree smile, he walked away.
___
“Damn it! Jiang Lei, you big idiot!”
Watching him leave, Qi Xueyao was on the verge of panic. Qi Lin didn’t co here for no reason. And now that Jiang Lei was gone, she was in serious trouble.
She tried to walk away, but Qi Lin blocked her path, smirking.
“Xueyao, I haven’t finished delivering your parents’ ssage yet. Where are you trying to go?”
