'So, I'm basically making a trade—cutting off a piece of my soul for a chance at an unknown fruit ?'
[System: Affirmative] Your adventure continues at empire
'What about the seed? Is there any sign of it? '
[System: Negative]
'Are you sure? Did you not see anything that resembles what Lilith described?'
[System: None]
Reign paused for a mont, uncertainty washing over him.
Did this an the tree wasn't what he had been searching for?
Or.
What if the seed had been a lie?
Perhaps this tree was the very thing Lilith was searching for, but she had simply misinterpreted it.
'No, that's beside the point. I should focus on these things first—one step at a ti.'
'I'm stuck in this place, so I might as well make the most of it and try,'
He began contemplating his options, taking the system's words into consideration.
'Wait, if it only needs a soul, can I use the ta-human soul instead?'
If he could leverage the ta-human's souls, he might save himself from losing a part of his own.
[System: Question acknowledged. Utilizing a ta-human soul is possible, provided it is compatible with the Tree. However, results may vary depending on the strength and integrity of the soul being offered.]
'I don't really care about it. If it fails, then so be it. Let's start with that guy who becos more powerful the more he fights.'
[System: Affirmative]
[System: Initiating connection. Please touch the tree]
The mont his fingers made contact with the tree's bark, he felt a jolt of energy passing through him, as if the tree figured out what he wanted to do.
"Whoa!" he gasped, trying to steady himself.
Before he could fully process the sensation, the system took over his body, guiding his movents like a puppet on strings. He was already accustod to this situation, so it didn't bother him at all.
[System: Transfer in progress. Preparing to release the soul of the ta-human 003.]
Reign felt a tugging sensation in his chest, as if a part of him was being pulled away, leaving him montarily disoriented.
Suddenly, a bright red light began to pulse from within his chest, casting an intense glow that illuminated the surrounding darkness.
The soul of the ta-human floated like a glowing orb, suspended in the air, radiating warmth and light in all directions.
As he looked closer, he was shocked to see a familiar face within the orb—it was the ta-human he had killed in Brentwood.
"Let out! Let out!" the figure inside scread, desperation lacing his voice. He thrashed against the confines of his own soul.
'Interesting. So this is how the system stores them,' Reign chuckled, finding the ta-human's facial expression both amusing and entertaining.
'Don't worry too much; I'll just feed you to this tree to make so fruit,' he responded with a wide sadistic grin.
His words only fueled the ta-human's fear, as it now began crying and begging for rcy.
"But to think you can still retain your consciousness… ta-humans never cease to amaze . Though in your case, I'm pretty sure you'd wish you were dead,"
He was indifferent to the ta-human's cries; what really intrigued him was what would happen when the tree converted the soul into a fruit.
The orb was absorbed by the tree, rging with its vibrant energy in a brilliant flash of light.
As the brightness faded, the system released its hold on Reign's body, granting him full control again.
He glanced up at the tree, wondering what transformation had taken place. But after waiting, he discovered there was none at all.
"What happens now?" he asked.
[System: The tree will now begin the process of generating a fruit. This will take ti, and its characteristics will be unknow]
"Got it"
With nothing else to occupy his mind, he leaned against the base of the tree and closed his eyes, letting the gentle hum of energy lull him into a restful state.
Monts later, a small bud began to form on one of the lower branches. It glimred with an iridescent sheen, pulsating as if it had a heartbeat.
Reign opened his eyes and took a step closer, srized by the sight.
"Is that the fruit?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
[System: Affirmative. The bud will mature into a fruit, harnessing the energy of the absorbed soul. The process may take ti, but the potential within it is imnse.]
Reign felt a thrill at the thought of the power and potential benefits he could gain if everything went his way. It made his journey to this place feel a little less depressing.
He envisioned what abilities it might grant him and how it could provide him so clue to escape this place.
As he watched, the bud began to swell, slowly transforming into a fully ford fruit.
Its shape was perfectly round, reminiscent of an apple. Traces of golden flecks danced across its green peel, giving it a unique elegant look.
Reign reached out instinctively, feeling drawn to it.
'Can I touch it?'
[System: Caution advised. Touching the fruit may trigger its powers prematurely. Wait until it is fully matured ]
Reign nodded, fighting the urge to reach for the fruit. He knew he had to be patient.
As he waited for it to ripen, a mory surfaced from his old world about the fruit of knowledge, along with the story of the garden where humans from earth were said to originate from.
He noticed so similarities between this tree and the one in the religious text—both had an irresistible charm and promised potential knowledge and insight.
Ti slipped by as he waited, and before he knew it, the fruit had reached its full size. It was now the size of a pineapple.
The fruit appearance had also completely changed, now covered in a crimson peel, the sa shade as the ta-human's soul.
'System, what's happening? Is it ripe?' he asked, excitent creeping back into his voice.
[System: The fruit is fully matured. You are now able to harvest it.]
