"Sure," Reign said, raising his hands for a friendly gesture. He smiled at the boy, trying to convey his willingness to cooperate.
The young boy was montarily stunned by how easily he agreed and extended his own hand.
Just as their fingers were about to et, Reign's expression changed, and instead of a handshake, he gave the boy a middle finger.
"Idiot!" he sneered, followed by a blinding red flash.
In an instant, the boy vanished, completely wiped out without a trace after being struck by Reign's surprise attack.
Your next chapter awaits on empire
Everyone was montarily stunned, unable to comprehend what just happened.
"I'm sorry, but this trial is dragging on, and I have other business to attend to," his mocking voice echoed .
"What did you—" Will Razer began, but before he could finish, Reign appeared behind him.
Razer quickly turned and instinctively drew his katana, ready to defend himself.
But to his shock, Reign was already back in his original spot, as if he had never moved at all.
It was a clear ssage: he could kill them all in an instant if he chose to.
"This won't be fun. How about you all activate your Overload? Maybe it will make this fight last a little longer," Reign taunted.
He didn't say all those things out of sheer confidence; a part of him was genuinely curious about how strong a hunter could beco when activating their final trump card.
Could they really contend with a demon king?
The hunters exchanged worried glances, though so hid their fear.
They understood the stakes had just been raised, and the grim reality of their situation sank in.
It was no longer just a battle; it was a fight for their survival against an unknown and extrely fast opponent.
Would they be able to stand against such overwhelming speed?
"Be on guard," Will Razer commanded. Everyone stepped back, understanding the need for distance to react swiftly against his attacks.
Tension filled the air as they braced themselves, ready for whatever ca next.
Miyu narrowed her eyes, sensing sothing familiar about Reign. It nagged at her, but she just couldn't place where she might have seen him before.
"Miyu, do you think you can slow him down?" Will Razer whispered.
As the second strongest hunter present, her wind abilities could create air resistance to counter their enemy's speed.
Miyu paused, weighing her options. She carefully analyzed her skills, looking for a way to tip the battle in their favor, even if only slightly.
"I can use my wind to detect any sudden chance in the air current. It might give us a chance to anticipate his next move," she suggested.
"Yeah, I don't think that will work," Reign said, suddenly appearing behind her without her noticing. Just like before, he vanished and reappeared in his original position before she could even land a hit.
He was toying with them, and they felt helpless against his speed.
It was amusing to see them already in a pinch, especially since his original form was even faster.
CLAP!
CLAP!
CLAP!
A loud applause shattered the building tension, but it didn't co from Reign.
Instead, it ca from the boy, who was now lounging casually against the tree trunk where he had been before. He looked perfectly fine, with no signs of damage whatsoever. Even his clothes remained in good condition.
Reign turned and smiled at the boy, fully expecting this turn of events.
After all, he had discovered that he hadn't absorbed any souls when he turned the boy into nothingness.
Still, he remained curious, and interested what the was the ta-humans ability was.
They tend to be random , and knowing that the boy was from a Tier 1 city, it ans that he was way powerful that the ones that Reign defeated and ate
'How did he survive exactly? I saw his body disintegrate in real ti, '
"Curious how I did it?" the boy let out a low laugh. The innocent look on his face was gone, replaced by an expression full of arrogance.
"So, what's your ability?"
The boy's smile grew wider as he shook his head . "And why would I tell you that?"
"Then I'll just kill you again " he warned
ZZZZZZ!
A flash of red light pass through the boy's chest, killing him in the blink of an eye.
"Now let's see how you revive," Reign said, his attention fixed on the corpse.
Everyone present also watched, expecting so movent, but what happened next was far more terrifying.
In one mont, there was a lifeless body; the next, the boy was back on the trunk, smiling and finding the whole scene amusing.
ZZZZZZ!
Reign repeated the sa attack, and the boy dropped dead again.
He couldn't even dodge it, showing that he wasn't physically strong or fast. Yet, no matter what happened, the boy always reappeared back on the trunk.
But Reign did no stop.
ZZZZZZ!
ZZZZZZ!
With each attack, the boy seed less like a threat and more like a puzzle that refused to be solved.
Curious, Reign decided to change his strategy. He killed the boy with a fast long range attack, then kept striking at his resurrection points, expecting to disrupt the cycle.
But instead, the boy's return beca faster, making it feel like he was watching a movie on replay.
'Wait... In replay? Don't tell this boy's ability is related to ti?'
The idea was concerning; controlling ti itself was a wild concept, even for soone of his caliber.
But then again, ta-humans' powers were often unpredictable, so it very well could be the case.
He glanced at Lilith, who had been watching the spectacle with narrowed eyes.
"Do you also think that little brat is controlling ti?" he asked.
Lilith nodded slowly, her expression thoughtful. "It certainly seems that way. Each ti he dies, he just... resets. It's as if ti bends to his will."
"Bend ti, huh? But the real question is, is he resetting his own ti or is he resetting ours?"
