Chapter 413: 8.13 Not A Human?!
"Miss Irene!" Ji Yan exclaid in concern as soon as Lu Yizhou opened the door. A grumpy Olivia stood behind him with her arms crossed. "Are you okay? What took you so—" He suddenly clicked his jaws shut and gave Lu Yizhou a double-take. Lu Yizhou stared as blush started to fill his cheeks and his eyes were darting everywhere in fluster. "I–I am sorry. Have I disturbed your... your rest?"
Lu Yizhou frowned. What’s wrong with him?
"I’ve told you!" Olivia rebuked harshly and rolled her eyes for good asure. "She’s very fine! Haven’t you seen how strong she was when she dragged Ailín up with only one hand?!"
’Daddy...’ Ozzie appeared out of nowhere to rub against his leg, owing softly. ’Your hair is very ssy ow... and your face is flushed prettily. You look like... cough, you look like soone who has just had a naughty dream. It’s okay ow! I did not see anything! I closed my eyes and ears like a good cat! I definitely did not see how helpless you are in Mommy’s arms ow!’
Lu Yizhou: "..." Heavens, he wished he could disappear like his lover did.
It certainly wasn’t the first ti for his daughter to witness such a thing, after all she had grown up with Lu Yizhou and Oliver, these two balls of libido who couldn’t keep their hands off each other no matter how much ti had passed. Lu Yizhou couldn’t count how many tis Bianca had walked in on him and Oliver making out in the kitchen early in the morning.
It was no different this ti and she had certainly seen worse. It shouldn’t be that mortifying... except it did, sohow. Damn it...! Lu Yizhou screwed his eyes shut, took a deep breath and raked his fingers through his hair to smooth it down. Well, at least from now on Ozzie would be prepared because it would most likely beco a common occurrence in the future. ’Next ti, just go sowhere else,’ he told her exasperatedly.
Ozzie tutted, ’Yes, daddy~’
The colors on Lu Yizhou’s face had rapidly drained in the seconds of his conversation with Ozzie, replacing it with his usual deadpan look. He firmly stood on the doorway and leaned against the fra. "Is there sothing you need, Ji Yan, Olivia?"
"No, it’s just that..." Ji Yan fumbled on his words, his hands gesturing wildly around Lu Yizhou’s room. "I was just worried about you so I thought of coming to check on you before the curfew—"
"Oh shut it!" Olivia finally snapped in impatience. "He doesn’t believe
when I say that there are worms in the salad and eye– eyeball in the sandwich!" Recalling the previous event, her face turned sickly green. She wrapped her arms around herself tighter. "I noticed it as soon as we sat down... What the hell was wrong with all of you? Don’t tell
you did not notice it either, Irene?!"
Lu Yizhou blinked, taken aback. Olivia had noticed the strange dishes in an instant... did it an that Luca’s spell did not work on her? Perhaps this woman was not so ordinary after all, he mused. What did he expect from the female lead? Of course she would have another golden finger...
He stepped aside and opened the door wider. "Co in. We shouldn’t talk about this in the hallway. The walls have ears."
His words seed to strike fear into the two’s hearts because they hastily scrambled in, almost elbowing each other in an attempt to be the first one to enter. The corner of Lu Yizhou’s lips twitched. It seed like the plot for the two protagonists’ romance had already started.
Right before Lu Yizhou closed the door, he caught a shadow hiding behind the wall. Holding his forehead in exasperation, he called out, "Please co out. We are a team so we should discuss our next move together." Following his words, Ailín and Diana finally showed themselves with a sheepish look. Lu Yizhou ushered both of them in before anyone could notice.
Ji Yan had taken the initiative to light a candlestick and put it on the table. The room seed small sohow with all of them crowding around the couch. Fortunately his room was wide enough to accommodate everyone. Lu Yizhou heaved a long-suffering sigh and sat down on the unoccupied single couch. No matter how he pondered about it, he could not understand. He had only wanted to act alone so... how did everything turn out like this?
"Miss Irene, are you okay?" Ji Yan asked again, seemingly more concerned than before.
Lu Yizhou’s forehead creased. "Why are you asking?"
He made a little noise on his throat. "It’s just that... well it’s true that I haven’t noticed anything from the dinner but the reason why I co here is... because of my Guardian Angel card." Ji Yan gave a succinct explanation to those who showed a confused look, naly Ailín and Diana. Then he added somberly, "The card was suddenly activated while I was walking here — no, to be exact when I was standing right in front of this room."
Lu Yizhou was taken aback. The card was activated? Did that an that it was warning Ji Yan of a potential threat that could endanger his life? Lu Yizhou had a strange urge to squirm when he recalled the event earlier. When it ca to his lover and their interrupted ti though... Lu Yizhou did not bla her for being murderous. He certainly had so passing thoughts to kill the protagonist back then when he heard his voice too. No wonder that she was enraged.
Ailín showed an alard look. "This room?" He stood up abruptly and looked around. "Indeed, there’s so lingering energy here."
Lu Yizhou tried not to let the surprise show on his face. "Lingering energy...?"
"Yes." Ailín showed them his skill card. It was the one who sharpened his senses toward supernatural beings. He sighed and took out a small flask of wine from out of nowhere. After drinking a few gulps, he continued with his face slightly flushed, "I got this as the completion reward. As soon as it’s activated, I can see the energy that lingers in the air in the form of color. I guess eh... it’s from beings that are not human. Luca Knox and his servant Baines have black energy. The energy here... there are two."
"Two...?"
"One color is red. Albeit thin, it has already filled the air around us. I have never seen sothing like this before. As for the other..." Ailín swept his gaze over everyone, and once again Lu Yizhou had a hunch that the drunk persona he always showed was rely an act. Those sharp, cautious eyes were too intelligent for a re middle aged uncle. An ominous premonition surged through Lu Yizhou’s heart, which was proven by the next second when those eyes laid on him. "...it’s blue, and I can say for certain that it cos from you, Miss Irene."
Everyone’s eyes flew open in shock, so did Lu Yizhou. What did Ailín an by that sentence? It was as if he was saying that... Lu Yizhou was not a human!
A strangled scream erupted from Olivia’s lips and in panic, she dragged the one closest to her by arm, which was unfortunately Diana, to stick themselves to the wall as far away as possible from Lu Yizhou. That left only Ailín who threw his head back to chug down another mouthful of wine, and Ji Yan whose mouth was agape and eyes blank as if he hadn’t yet understood the underlying aning behind Ailín’s words.
"W–Who are you?!" Olivia shrieked in terror, pointing at Lu Yizhou’s face with trembling finger. "I–I have heard of this kind of story from a senior in my previous quest. An NPC disguised themselves as a player and ended up killing almost everyone inside the quest! Are you an NPC too?! Will you kill us?! Was that why Baines treated you differently from others and gave you this huge room all to yourself?!!"
Lu Yizhou’s left eye twitched violently, speechless. Missy, it was not like he didn’t want to answer but he truly did not know anything. Because of 666, this useless system, he couldn’t even access the original plot and determine what kind of role he should be playing in this world.
Faced with the wary and untrusting gazes of his teammates, not only once had Lu Yizhou thought to fuck it all and blow this place up, effectively ending everything once and for all.
How should he proceed from hereon?
