Chapter 209: 5.19 National Hooligan

"I’m sure you know what I wish to talk about, General."

Lu Yizhou humd and closed the door of Doctor Wyatt’s office behind him. It devastated him to leave his lover as soon as they confird that yes, they could indeed form a bond right there and then. It would be just like Altair and Oliver all over again, to be linked both in body and soul, though Lu Yizhou had to study first how to form a spiritual union between a sentinel and guide.

Lu Yizhou had never once doubted his compatibility with Terra, albeit he didn’t expect that they would break the machine in the process. As much as it pained him to admit, there were more pressing matters to solve before he could truly let his guard down. He couldn’t stay with Terra knowing that out there, the person — parasite? — who had ordered his death was still alive and kicking, possibly having the best ti of their life.

He observed the spacious yet ssy office, taking in every single crook and detail as well as the heavy antiseptic sll that he had associated with the doctor before his eyes finally landed on the CCTV on the corner of the ceiling.

"Don’t worry about that." Doctor Wyatt assured when he noticed Lu Yizhou’s line of sight. "It’s actually a toy to fool the inspection mbers. No one is brave enough to put surveillance in my office." He finished with a sneer.

Lu Yizhou quirked a brow. When he scrutinized it deeper this ti, he indeed found that the texture of the CCTV was rougher than normal; plastic instead of tal. The blinking dot was actually LED light that was specially glued to the screen and Lu Yizhou found no cara inside the glass. He nodded, sat down on the couch and directly got to the point. "How are those four A rank sentinels doing?"

Doctor Wyatt’s lips curled in distaste. He fetched a cup of coffee for himself before sitting down opposite Lu Yizhou. "They won’t say anything even under the threat of death. That audacity! If it’s not because the truth serum is dangerous for sentinels because it can ss up with their mind and add to the risk of losing their senses, I will have stabbed their neck with it since last night!" The doctor’s eyes blazed in crimson vengeance and Lu Yizhou didn’t have the slightest of doubt that the guide could do it without even batting an eyelid. "I’m sure you have known it, General. But they also wished to get rid of ."

Lu Yizhou nodded. "I saw."

"And no matter how hard I thought about it, I couldn’t find the reason why soone would want to kill both of us. Except for the sole reason that I am your main doctor..." Doctor Wyatt fell silent at that, his lips quietly parted in shock. "Wait, is that the reason why? Because I am your doctor?" He hastily put his coffee to the table and rubbed his face roughly. "Goddamnit, the number of people that know it are less than five. Moreover, the ti was too coincidental. I have just relayed the ssage to the President the day before and last night, they ca."

Smart, Lu Yizhou noted, and very observant. Lu Yizhou liked smart people. It spared him the headache of having to explain step by step. He waited until realization sank into Doctor Wyatt’s face and the confusion was replaced with anger and indignation. "The President...? But why?"

"Doctor Wyatt, do you trust ?"

The doctor lifted his face from his palms to offer him a suspicious look that spoke blatant distrust. "What are you going to do?"

Lu Yizhou shrugged. "Reveal the truth." He had been thinking of the best ways to eliminate the king of parasites without being judged as OOC lest he got his reward points cut into half again — it’s 750 points. Utterly unacceptable, not that he was being petty — so what was more logical than suspicion?

Kai, the dark sentinel and a high rank mber of the army, had coincidentally awakened his special abilities on the night of the attack and managed to hold on to his life and save Doctor Wyatt along the way. Thinking that sothing was weird with this assasination attempt, he decided to lay low and investigate by himself only to find more and more strangeness revolving around the President. [Make sure that you record this line of thought of mine so your main server will not have the chance to judge my reasoning as unclear again.]

[666: Host *gulp*... you are still unreconciled about last ti, aren’t you? A—Alright, 666 has already recorded and written it down word by word!]

"And why should I trust you?" Doctor Wyatt raised a brow.

Lu Yizhou took a deep breath. Patience. "Because if I don’t do anything, they won’t stop coming. Do you wish to go to sleep from tonight onward fearing that it will perhaps be your last, Doctor?"

Doctor Wyatt’s face darkened into a scowl and judging from his hand that was creeping to his white coat’s pocket, Lu Yizhou suspected that he was going to take out a gun and shoot his forehead with it. Or it could also be a syringe and the doctor would finally be able to stab him to his heart’s content. Don’t think that Lu Yizhou had no idea that Doctor Wyatt had been strangely hostile toward him. Fortunately, no bloodbath happened in the closed office without surveillance this ti as Doctor Wyatt’s face smoothed down into mild irritation.

"Fine." Doctor Wyatt spat out begrudgingly. "I will trust you this ti, rely because I am partly to bla in this matter." Speaking up to here, he heaved a tired sigh. "I have discovered a traitor among my people. It’s been confird that he has been selling confidential information on the hospital for extra cash for quite a long ti. It’s negligence on my part to allow such a thing to happen. Please rest assured that he has been detained and his punishnt will be decided soon. Also..." he mumbled in a quiet voice, looking as if it wounded him physically to admit. "You are Terra’s sentinel-to-be and you managed to make him smile. I guess you’re trustworthy enough based on that."

Just the ntion of his lover was enough to make Lu Yizhou’s countenance softened. No one had seen it coming and they were utterly dumbstruck when Terra’s eyes crinkled and the corner of his lips tilted into the barest of smiles. It was not quite a full smile, even then they could clearly sense the guide’s joy and delight. And oh, wasn’t the sight so very lovely — it was better than how Lu Yizhou had imagined it to be. A knot in his chest loosened and all of a sudden, he could breathe easier and everything beca much more bearable.

"He deserves to smile a lot more." And Lu Yizhou vowed that he would strive to make it happen in the future.

"Stop." Doctor Wyatt lifted a hand, his face scrunched up in vexation. "...Please. You can simp over him in private later on. Right now, tell

what your plan is and what you want

to do."

"You don’t need to do anything, Doctor." Lu Yizhou continued before Doctor Wyatt had the chance to protest. "All you have to do is to turn off your phone, ignore any calls to your office line and don’t appear in public for the next few days. You may relay ssages directly to people you trust the most."

The doctor blinked. "You want

to play dead." That wasn’t a question.

"To be exact, act like you’re unavailable at the mont. It’s even better if your people can project a thin air of anxiety over the hospital. Make them believe that they have succeeded." The warmth in Lu Yizhou’s eyes promptly dissipated and his lips curled into a cold smile. "As for the rest, leave everything to ."

A General that had been betrayed by the country he was protecting. What was the best ti to stage a rebellion if not now? And if, coincidentally, he managed to expose the greatest scandal of the century, that was because the Goddess of Luck was standing by his side.

Ti to beco a national hooligan, Lu Yizhou decided.

Shudders ran down Doctor Wyatt’s spine when he saw the devious glint in Lu Yizhou’s eyes. He clamped the lips that almost blurted out a protest and swallowed it deep into his stomach. Don’t get overly curious, his instinct clamoured, it won’t end well for you. Doctor Wyatt swallowed thickly and nodded. "Then I... will leave everything to you."

"Ah." Doctor Wyatt spoke when Lu Yizhou had gotten to the door. "I forgot to inform you that Lieutenant Yves regained consciousness a few hours ago. He’s quite an active guy, isn’t he? Already clamouring to be discharged from the hospital. It’s fortunate that he showed no signs of going feral either."

Fortunately, Lu Yizhou had his back on the doctor otherwise his murderous expression would definitely shocked him. Yves... the very person who had killed Terra in the original plot. He knew that he was kinda biased; Yves could have been the sa as Ryan, a bastard in the beginning but once you have smoothed down his rough edges, he turned out to be a decent human — beast — being. And judging from the short interaction Lu Yizhou had with him, Yves didn’t seem like a bad guy, save for love that made him foolish and blind. But it didn’t an that Lu Yizhou wanted anything to do with him, or even the other protagonist. The further they were, the better.

He schooled his expression before turning to the doctor. "Thank you for informing . Tell him that I am occupied with another mission and he can directly go ho to rest if he feels well enough."

What he ant was: tell him to fuck off and don’t bother .

Doctor Wyatt raised a brow. Well, he shouldn’t be surprised anymore at this point, should he? He had known that General Kai was a very salty man toward everyone except for Terra. Sotis, Doctor Wyatt held faint suspicion that the man who was very sweet and gentle in front of Terra was a different person altogether. He humd thoughtfully. Should he do another test on the General to check if he had dissociative personality disorder?
