Chapter 122: 3.62 No Need For Sorrys

Finally, the external sounds were muffled and all Oliver could feel, see and hear was Lu Yizhou. His breathing, the flex of his biceps, and the warmth that emanated off him through his soaked clothes. Lu Yizhou’s body was very, very warm and he was like a huge portable heater to ward off the chill around Oliver’s body. The cold fabric sticking to their skin was uncomfortable but Oliver couldn’t ask for anything more. Lu Yizhou gently lowered him until his feet touched the floor but Oliver tightened his hold around the Alpha’s neck, unwilling to separate, head firmly tucked into the crook of his neck and Oliver absolutely adored how the Alpha stooped low to a seemingly uncomfortable angle so that Oliver didn’t have to strain himself.

"I told you," he murmured into the Alpha’s skin. "You have to try harder if you want to chase

away."

Lu Yizhou’s breath hitched above his head. "Oliver, I—"

"I can’t even sll the blood on you and even if I can, I don’t care." He laughed wetly and pulled away to cradle Lu Yizhou’s face and bump their foreheads together. "Stupid Alpha, haven’t I told you before? You’re you. You’re the Alpha who took

in during my first heat yet didn’t make a move to mark , you’re the Alpha who almost killed those who hurt , you’re the Alpha who asked

to move in with you to protect , you’re the Alpha who hugged

to sleep when I’m afraid to be alone, you’re the Alpha who present the champion’s flower crown and kissed

in front of everyone, you’re the Alpha who bonded with ." He smiled softly and kissed the winged beastman’s forehead with as much affection as he could muster. "My Alpha, my fated pair, my husband. What should I do to prove that whatever you do, I will never be afraid of you?"

Lu Yizhou’s eyes snapped up to him and Oliver saw it, the fragility. The vulnerability that he tried so hard to hide. He was baring it all now, for Oliver to see. The wonder in his eyes as he stared at Oliver was so intense that it made the oga grow bashful. It was as if he was looking at the sun for the first ti.

Oliver cleared his throat. "And before you start to talk about the previous incident, I want to tell you that I don’t care what you’ve done to Peter. You saved , Altair. You have always saved my life, again and again. Hush—" He pressed his forefinger on Lu Yizhou’s lips to shut his protest down. "Listen to

first, okay? Okay, it’s kind of terrifying and I won’t deny that what he said bugged ...a little. But that just proves how much I need to learn about you..." He grinned at the Alpha’s widening eyes. "...and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life doing so. Will you let , Altair?"

Lu Yizhou’s eyelids fluttered shut and Oliver felt it as he took a deep breath. His chest expanded, trembling ever so slightly. He looked overwheld and Oliver was proud that he was the one who made him like this. "Oliver..." He groaned softly. "Oliver, Oliver, Oliver..." His head dropped to the crook of the oga’s shoulder, inhaling. "I’m sorry that you have to witness such a grueso scene."

Oliver huffed out a laugh as he pressed a kiss to the Alpha’s temple. "There’s no need for sorrys between us." He cheekily repeated what the Alpha had just said a mont ago which earned him an amused huff. Lu Yizhou pulled away a little and their eyes locked midair. Oliver’s heart skipped a beat at the way those silver eyes gazed at him with such tenderness. The atmosphere was nice, the timing was good and they had already put the problem behind them. Oliver shyly leaned in and angled his head—

"So, what did the doctor say about your condition?"

Mini theater

Lu Yizhou was under the effect of anaesthetic, drifting in and out of consciousness. He saw ruined buildings, smoking fire, and pitch black sky. An utter chaos. His ears were ringing with the screams of many, many people. So he knew, so he didn’t. Many were curses, in between were pleads of help. There were those whose blood stained his hands. Eyes burning with fierce hatred stared up at him. "You devil! I will curse you! You won’t have a peaceful death and all of your loved ones will end up dying like !"

It didn’t faze him. Or at least, not at that ti. However, now that the mory resurfaced in his mind, Lu Yizhou felt his heart lurch, the ground parted beneath his feet and he was falling, diving head on into the abyss. The darkness sward around him, sticky like mud, entering his mouth, nose and ears, rendering him unable to see, feel and hear anything. His eyelids fluttered open, eyes empty.

And then he saw it.

A faint, twinkling light that was striking amidst the darkness. So bright that he couldn’t open his eyes to see, so precious and beautiful. A little sun that graced upon his pitch black world.

He struggled out of the shackle that chained him down and reached out to the light.

[666: HOSTTT, ARE YOU AWAKE?!]

The darkness abruptly dissolved into nothing and he woke up to the system’s incessant screeching, cold sweat drenching his skin. Pain wrecked through his whole body and he grimaced as he tore the oxygen mask off his face. He took in his surroundings warily. White tiles, beeping monitor, heavy disinfectant. Hospital. He only relaxed when he saw a glimpse of Oliver’s sleeping face through the connecting door. [Why are you yelling into my ear?]

[666: Okay, Host, take a deep breath and calm down. This is an ergency, an absolute ergency! You have been in a coma for five hours. This is the hospital and you have sustained at least thirteen broken bones—]

[Get to the point.]

[666: Okay, okay... *inhale* What 666 wants to say is, Peter is outside! PETER! He’s killing the Elite Guards on this floor and is currently heading this way! Oh my God, this is too much, 666’s heart can’t take it! What if you’re still not awake and Peter cos in? What if he kills Oliver?! We will have to restart the world all over again!]

Lu Yizhou promptly flung the blanket away and hissed at the pain that spread through his abdon. Pressing his lips together, he ripped off the IV drip and staggered down from the bed.

[666: Host, Host, are you okay?! Don’t force yourself, 666 has enough heart attacks for today! Host, this is the ergency 666 is talking about! Ti to take a trip down to the system’s store to look for new skills or weapons!]

[It’s okay.]

[666: IT’S NOT OKAY!!!]

He grimaced at 666’s shrill scream. [Shut up.]

He could still keep going, was what he didn’t say. Lu Yizhou silently walked to Oliver’s bedside and brushed the ssy hair on his forehead aside, his fingertips barely touching. Relief flooded him when he found no obvious injuries on the oga’s body. Lu Yizhou gave him one last look before he strode toward the door and slid it open with one swift movent, only to directly co face to face with the leader of the rebellion group.

Peter’s one eye stared back at him, wide in shock and stupefaction.

Lu Yizhou’s hands shot out, one to clamp the Beta’s mouth shut and the other to grip around his neck, effectively cutting off any sound he might make.

[You won’t have a peaceful death...]

He didn’t care about that.

[...and your loved ones will end up dying like !]

This... he couldn’t allow.

He dragged Peter out with him and closed the door without a sound.
