Villain Ch 968. Good EXP, Bad Loot

Continue your journey on My Virtual Library Empire

The portal swirled with dark energy as Allen and his companions stepped out onto the desolate ground in front of the Cursed Crypts' gates. The heavy gates lood before them. The crunch of gravel under Allen's boots echoed in the still air, punctuated only by the occasional flicker of the torches lining the path to their lair.

Allen's gaze lingered on the flickering flas for a mont, his mind still buzzing from the adrenaline of their recent hunt. The silence around them felt almost eerie after the chaos of battle. But before he could fully settle into the quiet, a hologram blinked into existence in front of him, commanding his attention.

[Level up!] X2

[You are now level 181!]

The notification was bright, celebratory, but Allen felt a strange mix of surprise and disbelief. 'Two levels in one hunt?' he thought, shaking his head in shock. They had been on a killing spree, targeting players rather than monsters, but even with their skills, this kind of progress felt surreal.

He flicked his index finger to scroll down the rest of the announcent, his eyes narrowing as he took in the details.

[You got 11,123 coins]

A long, disappointed sigh escaped his lips. The loot was ager, almost insulting compared to the effort they'd put in. 'Well, nothing's perfect,' he mused, trying to temper his disappointnt. Sure, the experience points were a welco bonus, but the coins? They were crucial, not just for upgrading his gear but also for maintaining his fearso reputation as the Devil Emperor.

"Ugh… the loot is still stingy as usual," Shea grumbled beside him, her irritation palpable. The siren's eyes narrowed in annoyance, her fingers twitching as if she could barely restrain herself from diving back into the fray for better rewards.

"Well, we just hunted players, not monsters," Zoe replied with her usual calm, her voice smooth as the still waters she commanded. The Kraken queen's tentacles swayed gently behind her.

"At least we got a lot of EXP!" Bella interjected, her voice bright and filled with excitent. The fox demon's tails swished energetically, betraying her enthusiasm. "I an, two levels in half an hour? That's insane!" Her grin was infectious, and Allen found himself nodding despite his earlier reservations.

"And the fun," Alice added with a smirk, twirling her broom playfully. The witch's eyes glead with satisfaction, her dark sense of humor always finding the silver lining in the chaos they left behind.

Allen allowed a small smile to tug at the corners of his mouth. As much as he could nitpick the loot, there was no denying the exhilaration of the hunt. The rush of power, the satisfaction of taking down player after player, it was intoxicating. The thrill still buzzed in his veins, reminding him of why he and his companions were feared and revered in equal asure.

Vivian stretched her arms above her head, her wings unfurling slightly as she let out a contented sigh. "Well, we can always farm so monsters later if we need more coins. For now, I'm just glad we got out of there alive. So of those players were higher level than I expected."

Allen nodded. "True. We pushed our luck a bit there, but it paid off." His mind drifted back to the fight. So of those players had put up more of a challenge than he had anticipated, and for a mont, he had worried that one of his companions might fall. But they had erged victorious, as they always did.

"Yeah, but they didn't stand a chance against us," Jane remarked, her voice a low, sultry purr as she adjusted her dark priestess robes. "Besides, it's been a while since we had such a good hunt. I missed the thrill."

Allen glanced over at Jane, her eyes glinting with satisfaction, and couldn't help but nod in agreent. There was sothing about the chaos, the pure carnage of hunting other players, that got his blood pumping. It was different from fighting monsters—more personal, more exhilarating. And though the loot had been disappointing, the experience of dominating the battlefield had been worth it.

"Still," Allen muttered, his eyes flicking back to the hologram hovering before him. He swiped through the notifications, analyzing their earnings with a critical eye. "We're going to need more than just levels to keep up with the top players. Upgrading our gear is going to be crucial if we want to maintain our edge."

Larissa moved gracefully to Allen's side. "We can always raid a few dungeons," she suggested, her voice smooth and calm.

"But not now. We have to prepare ourselves for tonight," Shea interjected, a playful smirk spreading across her lips as she winked at the group. The siren's voice was full of excitent, her earlier frustration forgotten.

"Oh, right!" Vivian exclaid, her wings twitching, her eyes widening with sudden realization.

Alice, who had been absentmindedly twirling her broom, suddenly snapped out of her thoughts, her expression turning panicked. "Oh, crap! What ti is it? We're not late, are we?"

"It's on your status user interface, dumbass," Bella chirped, her tails swishing as she shot Alice an amused look. She couldn't resist teasing her, a grin playing on her lips.

Alice pouted but quickly checked her status interface, a small holographic clock appeared before her. "Ugh… I hate it when you're right," she muttered under her breath. "We've got a bit of ti, but not much. We should head out now if we want to make it."

"I think we need to go now," Larissa said, her tone leaving little room for argunt. Her gaze shifted to Allen.

"All of you?" Allen asked, glancing up at his companions. He knew they had only been online for a short while, but he also knew what they were planning.

"Yes," Vivian said, her voice softening as she looked at him. "We promised, rember?"

"Fine," Allen sighed, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He knew better than to argue when all of them were in agreent. Besides, he was looking forward to tonight as much as they were. "I'll be waiting for you guys."
