Chapter 1802: This is The Cost of Power

Villain Ch 1802. This is The Cost of Power

Jordan didn’t blink. “He wasn’t working for a rival. He wasn’t a whistleblower. He wasn’t even a misguided fan.”

He sipped again.

“He did it because of ego. Because he wanted to prove he could break sothing sacred. He wanted to bring you down. In his mind, you were the cheat code. The dev’s son. The symbol of unfairness.”

Allen looked down at his tea. His reflection wobbled slightly in the liquid. “He didn’t even know .”

“Didn’t matter,” Jordan said. “He projected his inferiority onto you. And tried to destroy you for it.”

Emma was quiet. She picked at the edge of a napkin, lips tight.

Jordan’s voice was calm, but final. “The world is full of people like that, Allen. They don’t want to build anything. They don’t want to win fairly. They want to pull down whatever’s standing tall. Just to feel taller themselves.”

Allen didn’t argue.

He couldn’t.

Because deep down, he knew it was true.

Sophia. The hacker. Even so of the PvP trolls. All of them had the sa bitter aftertaste.

Jordan continued, “You’re in the spotlight now. You’ve built sothing powerful. People are watching. Admiring. Obsessing.”

He leaned slightly forward.

“And so… are waiting for a crack so they can rush in and claim you’re hollow.”

The air in the room shifted. Not colder. Not darker.

Just heavier.

Allen t his father’s eyes and asked, quietly, “So what happens next?”

Jordan leaned back. “We erase the threat.”

Emma winced slightly. “Dad—”

“He accessed internal code,” Jordan said. “Violated security, corrupted assets, targeted our crown product. That’s not just an ethical violation. That’s a declaration of war.”

Allen rubbed the back of his neck, tension curling in his spine.

“I just…”

Jordan raised a hand. “I’m not asking for your approval. You already did your part.”

Allen’s lips pressed into a thin line.

Kai reentered then, carrying the main course—a perfect, seared duck breast glazed in dark cherry reduction, with garlic potato purée and caralized shallots on a platter that belonged in a gallery.

He began to serve them.

Jordan didn’t speak again until Kai retreated.

Then, in a quieter voice, he said to Allen—

“This is the cost of power.”

Allen didn’t answer.

Not right away.

He picked up his fork, cut into the duck, and brought it to his mouth. The flavor was rich, bold, perfect.

But it didn’t erase the taste of sothing darker lingering at the back of his tongue.

A truth he’d always known but never wanted to face.

Power was seductive.

But power always ca with a price.

And Allen?

He was starting to feel the bill sliding across the taphorical table, with zero discounts and interest compounding like karma.

Jordan sipped his wine in perfect calm. The room was quiet again, except for the gentle flick of silverware on porcelain and the distant sound of evening crickets outside the windows.

Then Jordan’s voice cut in, soft but deliberate.

“You afraid?”

Allen didn’t answer imdiately.

He stabbed a caralized shallot with more force than necessary, chewed it slowly, and finally said—

“No.”

Then he set the fork down. “I just want to know if I can bear it. You know what I an?”

His father didn’t look surprised. Just nodded.

“Yes,” Jordan said. “That’s why I’m telling you things bit by bit.”

He adjusted his napkin.

“You are a Goldborne,” he continued. “But you’ve been raised as a commoner.”

Allen blinked. “Gee, thanks.”

“It’s not an insult. It’s a fact.” Jordan set his glass down. “You’ve lived like a normal boy. Studied like one. Made friends like one. Played gas. Fell in love. You were allowed to grow without the weight of the na.”

Allen leaned back in his chair, eyes flicking up to the chandelier overhead. “And now?”

“Now,” Jordan said calmly, “you’ll need so… adjustnt.”

“It’s not about suits and boardrooms. It’s about mindset,” Jordan said, steepling his fingers. “You have power now. Real power. People love you. Worship you. So envy. So hate. And so? So will do anything to ruin you.”

Allen stayed quiet.

He didn’t need a lecture to know that. He’d seen it today. With Sophia. With the hacker. With the forums exploding with theories, thirst posts, and breakdown videos analyzing his footwork like it was gospel.

He was no longer just a player. He was a symbol. A target. A weapon. A brand.

And apparently, according to the comnts, also daddy material.

Jordan’s next words broke his spiral.

“Also…” his father said, as casually as discussing wine pairings, “if you need to take care of your ex, just say it.”

Allen nearly dropped his fork.

“…Excuse ?”

Jordan didn’t blink. “We don’t need thorns in the flesh. Especially ones that already tried to make you bleed once.”

“That’s—” Allen exhaled, trying not to laugh and panic at the sa ti. “Okay. That escalated.”

Emma, chewing a piece of duck, just raised her eyebrows from across the table like ‘don’t look at , I’m just here for the drama.’

Allen cleared his throat. “I’ll take care of her.”

Jordan tilted his head, appraising. “Are you sure?”

Allen t his father’s gaze and nodded, slower this ti. “I will. She’s… persistent. But she’s not unstoppable.”

Jordan leaned back, folding his arms. “Good.”

Then the words ca quieter. Sharper.

“I’ll be watching. I want to see how you handle her.”

Allen didn’t flinch.

“Fair.”

Because yeah—this was part of it, wasn’t it?

Not just power. But consequence. Not just leadership. But proof.

Jordan didn’t expect him to be perfect.

He expected him to win.

The rest of dinner passed in subtle tension—the kind that wrapped around Allen’s ribs, quiet but ever-present.

Kai returned with dessert, a vanilla panna cotta with dark berry compote that Allen barely tasted.

Emma tried to lighten the mood with a comnt about soone on the forums drawing devil emperor x herself, which made Allen consider setting the server on fire, but even she fell quiet eventually.

Later, after Jordan had retired to his room, and Emma went upstairs humming so pop song to herself—

Allen stayed at the table.

Alone again.

He pulled out his phone and texted Azura.
