Chapter 1437: The Last Soldiers of a Dead War [Part 3]

Villain Ch 1437. The Last Soldiers of a Dead War [Part 3]

Bella growled, summoning a Thunderbolt in her palm. “Oh, co on, that should have at least knocked them back!”

The third Enforcer lunged toward Zoe, its movents precise, calculated.

Zoe’s tentacles lashed out, catching its sword mid-swing. She gritted her teeth. “Yeah, no—”

And then it adjusted.

With inhuman reflexes, it shifted its blade just enough, and sliced through her tentacle before she could pull back.

Zoe hissed, jumping back as the tentacle disintegrated into black mist, her health bar dropping by a chunk.

“Okay,” she growled, “these guys are real damn annoying.”

Jane gritted her teeth, raising a hand—Necromancy surged, a wave of skeletal warriors bursting from the ground.

The Enforcers didn’t even hesitate.

They cut through them in seconds.

Allen chuckled darkly. “Oh, I like you guys.”

His eyes glead as he lifted his sword.

“But let’s see how well you handle sothing that doesn’t die so easily.”

His aura expanded, black lightning coiling around him. The temperature dropped as his magic surged, his voice dripping with amusent.

“Dark Storm.”

The entire room erupted in chaos.

Allen’s Dark Storm unleashed across the battlefield, black lightning crackling through the air, arcing from one Enforcer to another. The entire office shook, the walls splintering under the sheer force of the magic.

The Enforcers staggered, their armor shuddering, but still, they stood firm.

Vivian’s whip lashed forward, wrapping around the arm of the second Enforcer, yanking hard. The soldier was forced forward, just in ti for Bella’s Ice Lances to slam into its chest.

– CRACK!

Frost spread rapidly, locking the Enforcer’s movents.

[Status Effect: Frozen (3 sec)]

Shea dove from above, her Tornado Dive a spiraling blur of feathers and wind, slamming straight into the third Enforcer, sending it skidding backward.

Zoe took advantage, tentacles surging out, wrapping around the legs of the fallen one. “You’re not getting back up.”

She wrenched hard.

The Enforcer’s visor cracked, the red glow flickering, its system struggling to process the damage.

But the lead Enforcer—the strongest of them all—was already recovering.

It gripped its greatsword, the weapon humming with unstable energy.

Then— It vanished.

“…Shit.”

Allen barely had a mont to react before the blade ca down, an explosion of corrupt energy surging forward.

Allen grinned.

“Barrier!”

The attack slamd into his defense, the force cracking the ground beneath him, but the shield held firm.

He flicked his wrist.

“Telekinesis Blast.”

The lead Enforcer was launched backward, slamming into the broken remains of the desk. The tal plating on its chest dented inward, exposing unstable energy flickering beneath its ruined armor.

Its health dropped to 12%.

Larissa moved next, her Blood Manipulation igniting, the dark crimson aura twisting in the air like blades.

She lunged, a Crimson Wave cutting through the air—

– SPLASH.

The attack pierced through the lead Enforcer’s chest, its body jerking violently.

[Critical Hit!]

A piercing shriek—the sound of sothing corrupted and broken.

The lead Enforcer crumbled, the red glow in its visor fading out completely.

Jane picked up the Damaged Recording Device, turning it over in her hands. “Looks like we found sothing important.”

Larissa ran a hand through her bloodstained hair, crimson eyes still glowing faintly. She wiped a stray drop of blood off her cheek, flicking it to the ground before glancing at the Damaged Recording Device in Jane’s hands.

“We should check it,” she said, her voice firm. “If this place is throwing everything at us to keep secrets buried, then whatever’s on that thing is worth hearing.”

Jane let out a slow breath, turning the blackened, scorched device over in her hands. It was old, barely holding together, the casing cracked as if soone had tried to destroy it before it fell into their hands.

“Alright,” she muttered. “Let’s see what our dead friend had to say.”

She tapped the side of the device. A glitching hum filled the room before a low, chanical click.

The recording played.

[Playback Initiated – Audio Log: Enforcer Commander]

A male voice crackled through the static. Deep. Steady. Military.

[“This is Commander Aldric of the Enforcent Division. Final report before deploynt.”]

There was a pause. A long, heavy exhale.

[“…The facility’s commanders have made their decision. The head researcher is a threat.”]

Vivian raised an eyebrow. “Well. That escalated quickly.”

Allen folded his arms.

[“She has interfered with the project too many tis. Her sabotage has cost us valuable ti. The Abyss Gate remains unstable, and her recent actions have only made containnt more difficult.”]

Zoe’s eyes narrowed. “So she really was trying to stop it.”

[“But the higher-ups have decided she is no longer necessary.”]

The air in the room shifted. There was sothing about the way he said it. Not as an execution order. Not as a punishnt. It was worse.

[“…And so, she will be repurposed.”]

Bella’s expression twisted. “Oh, hell no.”

The recording continued.

[“The researchers—those who have long abandoned their morals—have already made preparations. She will beco Subject Zero of the final phase.”]

A beat of silence.

Then—a cold, bitter laugh.

[“Poetic, isn’t it? The one who pioneered this technology will now serve as its last experint.”]

Shea’s hands curled into fists. “They turned her into one of their damn test subjects.”

Jane exhaled sharply, her grip tightening around the device.

The recording glitched, the voice montarily breaking into static before returning.

[“The experint has failed. The gateway is unstable. The project is falling apart.”]

[“…So we will use her.”]

The words felt final, like a nail being driven into a coffin.

[“…This facility will either be the future of warfare… or its grave.”]

The log cut off.
