Villain Ch 1358. Trapped Maiden [Part 2]

"So what's the plan, boss?" Jane said.

Allen stared at the girl, his mind racing. If she was a ghost, breaking the formation might release her—and not necessarily in a good way. But if she was a mory, leaving her here could an missing out on critical information. Either way, it was a gamble.

"She's staring at you," Larissa said, her voice breaking Allen's train of thought.

Allen blinked, his eyes locking onto the girl's. She was staring at him now, her sad smile gone, replaced by a weird intensity.

"Help …" Her voice was faint but audible now, carried on the faintest whisper of air.

"Did you hear that?" Vivian asked, her eyes wide.

Allen nodded, his grip tightening on his weapon. "Yeah. I heard it."

"Do we help her?" Bella asked, her tone uneasy. "Or do we leave her?"

"Leaving her doesn't feel right," Allen said after a mont. "She looks familiar anyway, but I can't place why." His gaze lingered on the veiled girl as if the answer was just out of reach.

Alice squinted at the girl, tilting her head as if trying to piece sothing together. "Are you saying she looks like ?"

Allen glanced between the girl and Alice a couple of tis, then shook his head. "Nope. Doesn't seem like you."

Bella smirked, crossing her arms. "Well, maybe this girl is just an innocent NPC who got caught in one of Alice's failed cooking and got toyed with by her. Poor thing." She shook her head dramatically, as if deeply disappointed. "That witch must die. Burn her!"

Alice cringed, her expression turning into an exaggerated pout. "Uh… are we still good friends? Or are you actually plotting my untily demise?"

Bella shrugged nonchalantly, though her smirk widened. "Of course we're still good friends. I'm just ssing with you."

"Thanks for the heart attack," Alice muttered, rolling her eyes. "Remind to return the favor later."

"Focus," Allen said, cutting through their banter with a tone of quiet authority. He gestured at the magic formation. "I'm going to destroy the runes and the circle. You all step back. If this is a trap, you know what to do."

The girls nodded, retreating a safe distance. Allen stretched his hand out horizontally, his expression calm but focused. A flick of his wrist summoned dozens of Demonic Lances, each one crackling with dark energy as they hovered around him. The air humd with power, and the faint light of the magic formations seed to flicker in response.

He waved his hand forward, and the lances shot out, streaking toward the magic formation with deadly precision. But as they reached the glowing lines of the circle, the lances disappeared, vanishing into thin air without leaving so much as a scratch.

"What?" Bella exclaid, her eyes wide. "Did it just… eat your attack?"

"That's new," Jane muttered, her tone more curious than concerned.

Zoe arched an eyebrow, folding her arms. "You don't seem bothered, Allen. Should we be worried, or do you know sothing we don't?"

Allen lowered his hand, his posture relaxed despite the bizarre reaction to his attack. "It's exactly what I thought. This girl… she's just a mory. Or maybe a hallucination created by the confusion effect. My skills have no impact because there's nothing real to hit."

The group exchanged uneasy glances, their usual bravado dampened by the strangeness of the situation.

"Wait," Larissa said, frowning. "If she's a mory or a hallucination, does that an we're wasting our ti here?"

"Not necessarily," Allen replied, his tone thoughtful. "If she's a mory, then she might be a clue. And if she's a hallucination, well… the only way to find out is to check."

Without another word, he stepped forward, crossing the threshold of the magic formation. The air seed to ripple around him as he entered, but there was no sudden explosion, no hidden trap. Just the faint hum of the glowing runes and the soft, almost imperceptible sound of the girl's breathing.

"It's safe," Allen called back over his shoulder. "I think."

"You think?" Shea repeated, her voice sharp. "That's not exactly comforting."

Allen ignored her, his focus on the girl as he approached. Up close, her transparent form seed even more fragile, like a wisp of smoke that might dissolve with the slightest breeze. Her chains shimred faintly, almost as if they weren't bound to her physical form but to sothing deeper.

"Who are you?" Allen asked, his voice softer now, almost gentle.

The girl turned her head slightly, her veil shifting just enough to reveal pale, delicate features. Her lips parted, and she spoke, her voice barely more than a whisper. "Help …"

Allen crouched beside her, his hand hovering near the chains but not touching them. "Help you how? What do you need?" His voice was steady, but his mind raced with questions. The girl's presence felt unreal, like she was more an echo than a person, and the way the magic formations shimred around her only added to the mystery.

The girl turned her head toward him, her movents slow and strained. Her veil shifted slightly, revealing pale, sorrowful eyes. "I don't want to marry him," she whispered, her voice trembling. "Why should I be born just to marry him? I'm a human too… I have free will…"

Allen frowned, his confusion deepening. "What do you an? Who are you talking about?"

Before he could press further, the girl's form flickered, shimring in sync with the glowing magic circle. Then, without warning, both she and the formation vanished, leaving only an empty space where they had been.

The silence that followed was deafening. Allen stood slowly, his gaze sweeping the room as he prepared for an ambush. The others did the sa, their weapons drawn, but nothing happened. No undead burst from the shadows, no traps were triggered. The air was still, almost too still, as if the room itself was holding its breath.

"What the hell just happened?" Zoe finally said, breaking the silence. She lowered her blade slightly, her expression a mix of confusion and annoyance.
