Villain Ch 1353. Sinner Village

Allen cringed and covered his mouth, his expression a mix of confusion and disgust. "Uh… tell again why we ended up here?" His voice was muffled by his hand as he tried—and failed—to block out the strange scent that seed to cling to the air. It was a bizarre, almost nauseating mix of sulfur, rotting wood, and sothing tallic, like old blood. He couldn't pinpoint what it was, but whatever it was, it was bad.

The ominous chi of the system announcent still lingered in his mind.

[Welco to Sinner Village!]

[Be careful of the place confusion effect!]

Allen's eyes scanned the surroundings. The place was nothing short of a nightmare. The ruins of what might have once been houses stood crooked and crumbling, their warped shapes giving off an unsettling vibe. So structures were larger, hinting at mansions or estates, but even they looked decayed and lifeless. Graves dotted the area haphazardly, so marked with crude stones, others unmarked entirely. The forest lood in the distance, its dry, skeletal trees reaching into a dark reddish sky like clawing hands.

"Seriously," he muttered, his voice tinged with exasperation. "This place screams bad ideas. What kind of twisted ga design is this?"

Shea shrugged, her expression as casual as ever, though there was a glint of amusent in her eyes. "You said you wanted to blow off so steam, right? But considering the whole Devil Emperor redemption arc nonsense is still buzzing around the player base, we wouldn't exactly be able to hunt in peace anywhere populated." She gestured around dramatically. "So… here we are."

Jane grinned widely. "I don't know what you're complaining about, Allen. This place reeks of mystery! I love it." She spun in a slow circle, taking in the eerie scenery like it was a masterpiece. "Look at the ruins, the graves, the sky… It's got an ambiance."

Zoe crossed her arms, her expression skeptical. "Beats why anyone thought this was a good idea. But if this place has any connection to one of us, my money's on either Alice or Larissa."

"Uh, excuse ?" Larissa said, her voice rising slightly as she shot Zoe a look of mild offense. "This place has way more Alice's vibe than mine. I an, just sll it." She wrinkled her nose, waving a hand in front of her face. "That weird, burnt, vaguely gross sll? That's like… the scent of a witch's failed cooking experint. ? I'm a vampire queen. Why would I have anything to do with this?"

Alice, who had been examining a nearby pile of dried corpses with morbid curiosity, rolled her eyes and stood. "Uh, excuse , Larissa," she said, crossing her arms. "I am a witch, but even I wouldn't claim this place. Look at those." She pointed at the strange, twisted corpses stacked haphazardly near one of the ruins. Their skin was dried and shriveled, stretched tight over bones that jutted out at odd angles. "Look at how dried out they are. You know who leaves things like that? Vampires. Bloodsuckers like you."

Larissa scoffed, folding her arms and narrowing her eyes. "Oh, please. Those look like they've been here for ages. I wouldn't waste my ti sucking the blood out of sothing that's already half-dead."

Allen groaned, rubbing his temples. "Can we not turn this into a bla ga? I feel like this place already hates us without us bickering on top of it."

Jane ignored him, crouching near one of the piles of corpses with a gleeful grin. "I think they're cool," she said, poking one with her index finger. "Look at this one! The way its face is all twisted like it's still screaming? So creepy."

"Jane, please stop touching them," Allen cringed, his voice tinged with concern. "You don't know what kind of curse or disease those things might have."

"Relax, boss," Jane said with a dismissive wave. "If it's cursed, it'll probably just make cooler. Imagine the aesthetics!"

"That's not how curses work," Allen muttered, glancing around.

Shea stepped up beside him, her tone unusually serious. "The system did say sothing about a place confusion effect." She gestured toward the scattered ruins. "Doesn't that kind of scream 'don't trust anything you see'?"

"Yeah, well, the system doesn't usually scream, but this place definitely gives those vibes," Allen admitted, his gaze darting toward the forest. "It's almost too quiet here. And that sll…"

"Still not my fault," Larissa quipped, crossing her arms.

Alice sighed dramatically. "Nobody's blaming you, Larissa. Well, not anymore, anyway."

Let's just keep moving," Zoe said, brushing past them toward what looked like the remains of a main road. "This place is creepy, sure, but if we keep standing around, we'll just look like idiots when sothing inevitably jumps out at us."

"Right," Allen mumbled, still grimacing at the sll. "Standing around in a graveyard of nightmares isn't exactly my idea of fun either."

The group trudged on, the crunch of dried leaves and brittle debris underfoot the only sound breaking the eerie silence. Every step felt heavier, like the oppressive air was trying to root them in place. Allen couldn't help but glance around, half expecting a skeleton to leap out from one of the ruined houses.

"This place feels… off," Shea muttered, her sharp eyes scanning their surroundings. "Not just visually, but like… in a 'sothing's watching us' kind of way."

"You an like every horror movie ever?" Jane chid in, clearly amused. "I love it. It's like we're the stars of our own creepy flick."

Allen shot her a sideways look. "If we're in a horror movie, can you not be the comic relief who dies first?"

Jane smirked. "Oh, please. I'm the quirky side character who survives against all odds. You? You'd definitely trip over nothing while trying to look heroic."

Before Allen could retort, a faint shuffling noise echoed from up ahead. The group froze, tension snapping into place like a drawn bowstring. Allen's heart pounded.

"Did anyone else hear that?" Larissa whispered, her voice low but sharp.

"Yeah," Alice replied, her tone serious as she narrowed her eyes at the darkened path ahead. "And it's getting closer."
