Villain Ch 1318. Reality Check

"Damn, Vivian," Zoe said, shaking her head with an impressed grin. "That was cold."

"Not cold," Vivian said with a shrug. "Necessary. Soone needed to remind him what's at stake. Guys like him think they can have it all without consequences."

Larissa smirked, swirling her champagne. "You really have a way of making people squirm."

"And you didn't even have to raise your voice," Jane said, her eyes gleaming with amusent. "That's talent."

Vivian shrugged, taking a sip of her drink. "Sotis words hit harder when you don't yell. Besides, he needed a reality check."

Zoe leaned against the table, swirling the champagne in her glass thoughtfully. "That was impressive, yeah, but also kind of dangerous. Calling soone out like that at an event this big… it could backfire."

Shea nodded in agreent, though her expression remained calm. "True, but given Mr. Bell's position, he wouldn't dare escalate it. He's here representing the agency, and any drama caused by him would reflect poorly on them. It's risky, but he's the one in the wrong. No one's going to back him up if things go south."

"Good point," Bella said, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "He doesn't have much room to wiggle. It's not like anyone would defend him if he did sothing stupid."

Alice, who had been quietly sipping her drink, suddenly spoke up. "You know… I wonder where Azura is."

Her words made everyone pause. They glanced around the room, scanning the crowd for Azura, but she was nowhere to be seen.

"She wasn't with the others earlier," Zoe said, frowning slightly.

Allen furrowed his brow, pausing to think. "Azura's family still has ties with Goldborne. Maybe…" He trailed off for a mont, piecing things together. "Maybe she's with Jordan. Her family must be here, right?"

The others exchanged glances, the realization settling in.

"True," Larissa said thoughtfully. "It makes sense that her family would attend sothing like this."

"But if they're here, why aren't they in this room?" Alice asked, her tone curious but slightly uneasy.

Shea suddenly looked serious, her playful deanor fading as a new tension filled the air. Allen noticed it imdiately, his own expression hardening.

"What's wrong with you guys?" Bella asked, looking between Allen and Shea, clearly picking up on their shift in mood.

Allen's gaze flicked toward the far end of the room, where a hallway led to the VIP section of the venue. "This… could be a problem," he said slowly. "This announcent wasn't just for the public. It was also for the families connected to Goldborne. Maybe they were caught off guard and demanded an explanation."

Jane's eyes widened slightly. "You think they're eting with your dad?"

Allen nodded. "Probably. That's why Dad asked to prepare a VIP room. He must've known so of the families would want to talk privately. They're probably eating while… discussing things."

Shea crossed her arms, her expression thoughtful. "And if Azura's family is involved, it could an they're negotiating or trying to clarify sothing."

"Clarify what?" Bella asked, frowning. "It's just an announcent. What's there to clarify?"

"It's more than that," Shea said quietly. "This isn't just a social event. It's a shift in power. Allen being introduced as a Goldborne changes things for the families who have business or personal stakes in the company. So of them might see it as an opportunity, while others might see it as a threat."

"Exactly," Allen added. "And if they weren't expecting this, they might be trying to figure out how it affects them."

The group fell into a brief silence. The lighthearted atmosphere from earlier had completely vanished, replaced by a sense of unease.

Vivian broke the silence, her voice steady but serious. "So, what do we do?"

"Nothing for now," Allen said, glancing toward the hallway again. "If Dad needs , he'll call. Until then, we stay here and keep an eye on things. No need to stir up more drama."

Shea nodded in agreent. "Better to let them handle it. No point in drawing attention to sothing we can't control."

"But what about Azura?" Zoe asked. "Should we try to find her?"

Allen hesitated, weighing the options. "Let's give it a little more ti. If she's in the VIP room, she's probably dealing with sothing important. If she's indeed in the VIP room… maybe…" Allen trailed off, his expression thoughtful.

"Maybe the situation there got a little heated," Shea said, picking up where Allen left off. "Azura's lived in the Goldborne mansion before. If things got tense, they might have asked her for her opinion. She knows enough about the family and might feel obligated to step in."

Bella frowned, crossing her arms. "So, you think they're grilling your dad about you?"

"Possibly," Allen said with a sigh. "Families tied to the Goldborne business don't like surprises. They might want to know if I'm… worthy."

"Worthy?" Zoe raised an eyebrow. "Worthy of what? You didn't ask for this. They can't exactly put you through a job interview."

"No, but they can question my character," Allen said, his voice calm but firm. "These kinds of families care about reputation, image, and whether I'll be a liability."

"Ugh," Bella muttered, shaking her head. "I didn't expect it to be this complicated."

Alice gave a small chuckle, though there was no humor in it. "Wealthy families are seriously confusing, huh?"

Allen shrugged. "Kinda. They operate on a different set of rules. It's not just about money—it's about influence and connections."

Shea gave Allen a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Don't stress too much. If they're asking Azura about you, she'll handle it. She knows what she's doing."

"Let's hope so," Allen murmured. He wasn't entirely convinced, but there wasn't much he could do without causing unnecessary tension.

Just as they were settling back into a more relaxed conversation, a young woman and an older woman approached Shea, their faces lighting up in recognition.

"Shea!" the younger woman greeted warmly, pulling Shea into a brief hug. "It's been ages since we last saw each other. How have you been?"

Shea smiled politely, though her tone was slightly guarded. "I've been good. Busy, as usual."
