Villain Ch 1079. Singing Corpse

Larissa led the way, her blood tendrils gently swaying at her sides, ready for any ambush that might await them. "Whatever's up there, it better be worth it," she muttered under her breath, her eyes scanning the staircase for signs of danger.

Jane was humming a soft tune to herself. "Maybe we'll find more lore," she mused, her voice echoing off the cold stone walls. "I love these old dungeons—they always have the best stories."

The second floor of the monastery was eerily similar to the first, though sothing about it felt even more unsettling. The rooms were still decayed and filled with broken furniture, collapsed bookshelves, and ruined tapestries, but there was more movent here. More noise.

They noticed the variation in the monsters—more cursed monks, priests, and now even strange creatures that seed to move with unnatural movents. So of them, bizarrely enough, were dancing. Their twisted, jerky movents were almost hypnotic, and every so often, a haunting lody echoed through the air, as if the walls themselves were humming with an ancient, cursed song.

"Sing for ! Sing for !" one of the Cursed High Monks yelled, charging at Vivian.

Vivian, not bothering to take flight this ti, parried his attack with a flick of her whip. The sharp crack of her weapon echoed as it wrapped around the monk's neck. With a swift tug, she pulled him to the ground, and the sharp end of her whip slashed through his throat. The monk collapsed, his voice falling silent.

Vivian wiped the edge of her whip clean with a quick flick. "These monks are obsessed with singing," she muttered, looking around at the dancing, chanting monsters with a mix of disgust and curiosity. "What the hell is going on here?"

Jane's eyes were wide, sparkling with fascination. "This is all connected. The singing, the music... it has to be tied to the curse in this place," she said, almost excitedly, as she summoned one of her undead minions to fight off an approaching priest. "The voice we heard before, in the nto, and now these monks—sothing is compelling them to sing, to perform.

I bet it's all tied to that mysterious singer the priestess ntioned."

Larissa slashed through another monk, her blood tendrils coiling around his body before tossing him aside. She raised an eyebrow, glancing at Jane. "You really think this entire place is cursed because of so performance gone wrong? Sounds like a weird musical if you ask ."

Jane nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! That's exactly what it is. Think about it—this whole monastery was preparing for a grand ceremony where they planned to summon sothing with music. But it went horribly wrong. Instead of invoking divine favor, they unleashed sothing dark.

The singing and dancing—it's a part of the curse now. They're all trapped, reliving that failed ceremony over and over."

Allen, slashing through a cursed monk with his sword, gave Jane a sideways glance. "So, what? The monsters are cursed to perform forever? Seems a bit over the top for a ceremony that went wrong."

"Well, not just the ceremony itself," Jane continued, waving her finger and sending a few skeletal minions to fight off another wave of enemies. "It's the music. Whatever creature they tried to summon or use, it wasn't just powerful—it was musical. And now, all of these monsters are trapped in its influence."

Once they cleared the final wave of enemies, the eerie silence returned, broken only by a soft humming sound that seed to drift through like a haunting lullaby. The lody wasn't coming from the walls this ti, but from sowhere deeper within the monastery.

"That's new," Larissa said as she narrowed her eyes, scanning the room.

Allen tilted his head, listening carefully. The humming grew louder as they moved down the corridor, leading them to a large, arched doorway. He motioned for the group to follow him. The door creaked as they pushed it open, revealing a dimly lit room. The source of the humming was imdiately clear.

There, seated at a desk in the center of the room, was a corpse. The body was long decayed, its skin stretched taut over skeletal remains, but what made it unsettling was that the humming sound was coming from its mouth. Though clearly dead, the corpse's lips were slightly parted, and a soft, continuous lody floated from its throat.

Most of the girls froze, a collective shudder passing through them.

"That's... disturbing," Shea muttered, taking a cautious step back.

Zoe nodded. "Yeah, I'm not sure whether to be impressed or creeped out."

Jane, however, was unphased. In fact, her eyes sparkled with curiosity and amusent. "I have to be honest," she said, looking at the corpse with a grin. "This is a great music box for Halloween. If they sold one of these in real life, I'd totally buy it."

Bella's eyes widened in mock horror. "You're telling you'd want that in your apartnt? Just humming away while you sleep? Are you crazy?"

Jane shrugged, still smiling. "It's atmospheric! You know, for spooky vibes. Perfect for a haunted house the."

Vivian raised an eyebrow. "Jane, I like creepy as much as the next person, but there's a line. And I'm pretty sure a singing corpse crosses it."

Larissa smirked. "Oh, I don't know. I can already imagine Jane's place. Skeletons, corpses, creepy music boxes... and, of course, so 'cute' zombie butlers to serve tea."

Jane laughed. "Exactly! See? You get it. It would be fun. Especially that zombie butler!"

Shea shook her head, clearly not convinced. "Fun for who? I'd probably have nightmares for weeks if I lived in a place like that."

Alice chid in, her voice light and playful. "Yeah, imagine waking up in the middle of the night to this thing humming away in the corner. You'd never sleep again."

"I'd sleep like a baby," Jane said with a grin. "It's all about the ambiance. Gotta embrace the creepiness," she added.
