Villain Ch 1064. Businessman's Mindset

A sly smirk tugged at the corner of Allen's mouth. "Among the boys around Sophia, he's the most dangerous," Allen remarked, his tone almost appreciative. "But I like his way of thinking. Honestly, I'd probably do the sa thing if I were him."

Kai's eyes widened slightly, his brow furrowing at the unexpected complint. "You'd do the sa?" he asked, surprised. There was sothing chilling about Allen's words, as if he were stepping into a mindset Kai hadn't seen before.

Allen's smirk widened just a little, his gaze distant as if considering the ga Jas was playing. "Think about it," Allen said, his voice calm, almost too calm. "Jas is smart. He's acting all friendly, smiling, joking around, but what's really in his head is strategy. He's positioning himself as harmless, so no one sees him coming when he strikes.

That's exactly how you win in these kinds of gas."

Kai shuddered inwardly at Allen's tone. This side of Allen—calculating, cold, even admiring the manipulations of a potential rival—was sothing Kai hadn't fully seen before. It wasn't that Allen had never been strategic; he had, of course, but this felt different. There was a sharpness to him now, a willingness to embrace the darker sides of strategy that Kai hadn't expected.

"I'm surprised, sir," Kai said, his voice calm but tinged with sothing akin to respect.

Allen glanced at him but didn't respond imdiately.

"You were raised in an ordinary, dysfunctional family," Kai continued, his tone more thoughtful now. "Yet, you've developed this pure businessman's mindset. It's impressive, honestly. You're already acting like a real young master. I guess you really are a Goldborne after all."

Allen gave a small smile, though there was a touch of sothing darker in his eyes. "Thank you for the complint," he said, his voice asured. He wasn't offended—far from it. In a strange way, Kai's observation had struck a chord, perhaps more deeply than Allen wanted to admit. Despite his complicated origin, there was no denying that blood was thicker than water.

The sleek black car pulled up in front of them, interrupting the conversation. The staff quickly opened the door for Allen and Kai. Without a word, Allen slid into the back seat, and Kai followed. The door closed softly behind them and the staff went into the side of driver's seat.

Allen glanced out the window, toward the entrance of the building, and there she was—Mila. She stood with Jas, Marcus, and a few other staff mbers, watching as the car slowly pulled away. Even from a distance, Allen could feel the lingering tension in her stance, the way she seed to be caught between her emotions and the formality of the mont.

Her eyes were fixed on the car, as if hoping for one last connection before he disappeared.

Allen's gaze lingered on her for a mont longer than he intended, sothing stirring in his chest that he wasn't quite ready to face. He had kept his walls up during their conversation, and for good reason.

But now, seeing her standing there, surrounded by people who likely didn't understand her feelings, he felt a strange pull of sympathy. Mila was soone who had seen him, or at least tried to. And despite everything, part of him respected her for that.

The car glided through the streets, leaving Mila, Jas, and the others behind. Back at the entrance, Mila stood motionless, her gaze lingering on the car disappearing into the distance. Beside her, Marcus and Jas exchanged a glance.

Marcus exhaled deeply. "I'm glad everything went smoothly," he said, his voice carrying the weariness of soone who had been on edge for hours.

Jas smirked. He crossed his arms casually. "I told you this wouldn't be a problem. You're too tense, Marcus. You always think the worst is going to happen."

Marcus shot him a look, shaking his head. "You say that now, but you weren't the one handling all the logistics and negotiations. There were a hundred things that could've gone wrong today."

Jas shrugged nonchalantly, his easy going deanor in stark contrast to Marcus' cautious nature. "Yeah, but none of them did. That's what I keep telling you. You worry too much. It's all under control."

"Is it?" Marcus raised an eyebrow, his voice carrying a note of skepticism. "You know as well as I do that Allen is not soone to take lightly. One misstep, and this whole deal could've fallen apart."

Jas chuckled, unfazed by Marcus' concern. "Allen's smart, but he's not unreasonable. He was here to make a deal, and we gave him what he wanted. Simple as that."

Marcus shook his head again. "I don't know, Jas. I've dealt with people like Allen before, and they don't just make deals based on what's on the surface. They're always calculating, always thinking three steps ahead. That's why I was tense. I didn't want to overlook anything."

Jas gave Marcus a reassuring pat on the back, his smile never faltering. "Relax. We've secured the venue, the contract signed, and everything's in motion. You need to trust that you did your part right. Besides, Allen didn't seem like he had any reservations, did he?"

Marcus paused, his brow furrowing slightly as he considered Jas' words. "No. He was formal, sure, but there was sothing else. Like he wasn't just here for business. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it felt off."

Jas raised an eyebrow, intrigued but dismissive. "Off how?"

Marcus shrugged, glancing briefly toward the spot where Allen's car had disappeared monts ago. "I don't know. Maybe it was just the pressure of the deal. Or maybe it was because Mila was unusually quiet."

Jas looked over at Mila, who was still standing in the sa spot, her expression distant, as if lost in thought. "Yeah, she was. But she's probably just overwheld by all the business talk. You saw it from the monitor, right? All just formalities."

"Yeah, formalities," said Marcus in a sarcastic tone as he rembered how Mila tried to reach Allen's hand, yet Allen retreated and kept his distance. It was Allen who kept the formalities, while Mila wanted more than that.
