Li Ting’s voice held a mixture of desperation and defiance as she spoke, holding a fruit knife to her neck.
“Put that knife down,” Li Zhong barked angrily.
“I won’t. Unless you agree to help Ye Chen, I’ll die right here.” Li Ting’s words seed earnest as a blood mark appeared on her neck, genuinely frightening Li Zhong. Despite his daughter’s faults and her unattractiveness, she was still his flesh and blood.
“Alright, put the knife down. I’ll agree to your terms. And ask Ye Chen to et .” Li Zhong gave in, prompting a look of triumph on Li Ting’s face as she discarded the knife.
“You’ve made a promise. If you go back on your word, I swear I’ll end my life.”
Li Zhong rely snorted in response. What else could he do in such a situation?
Ye Chen, summoned by Li Ting, arrived despite his suspicions.

“Li Ting and I genuinely love each other.”

“I’m willing to help you, but you must marry Li Ting. If you hurt even a hair on her head, I’ll make sure you have nowhere to be buried,” Li Zhong threatened Ye Chen.
