However before I could complete my sentence, a loud shout of disbelief resounded in the room:
"Whhaat??"
The girl instantly asked: "Then why didn’t you already join a sect? Didn’t the cultivator who carried out your awakening ceremony give you a disciple token?"
This was the norm. If soone awakened a spirit higher than 3-star then they would be recruited into the sect right away as an outer disciple.
If I had awakened a 5-star spirit, I should’ve already been recruited into the sect.
They couldn’t help but doubt my words.
"I simply wanted to spend so ti with my parents before beginning my cultivation journey. This is why I didn’t join the sect right away."
I made up a reasonable excuse. They couldn’t check if I was telling the truth or not anyway.
"Alright then, show us your spirit." The girl challenged, not believing .
I decided to fulfill her wish and instantly closed my eyes, summoning my spirit.
The glow from my solar plexus instantly conveyed the level of my spirit.
"It’s indeed a 5-star spirit." Her father, the peakmaster, was an experienced cultivator who instantly discerned the level of my spirit before it had even finished summoning.
Soon, the red-furred, three-eyed, four-ard, monster ape with huge muscles and a stature of 8 feet stood in the center of the room.
"What is this uncommon creature? I have never seen a spirit like this." The peakmaster was intrigued by my spirit.
I could understand why he had such a reaction. This was a new spirit that was enhanced by the demonic treasure.
There shouldn’t be a similar spirit anywhere.
I called the spirit back before it could move around.
The room was small and wouldn’t be able to handle such a large creature’s movent.
Right at this mont, the peakmaster asked:
"What is your na, child?"
From the start of our conversation, I haven’t even told him my na.
"It’s Qin Feng, my lord," I answered respectfully.
He then looked at with an expectant gaze and asked:
"Qin Feng, would you like to join my Azure Claw Peak?"
However, before I could even think about it, the girl instantly spoke up:
"What are you doing father? There is no need to recruit him directly. He should take the test first."
The peakmaster shook his head and said:
"If he doesn’t join our peak then we can send him to take the test."
I instantly understood the aning behind those words.
He was giving a chance to directly join the sect without any test, however, I also knew that the test was just a formality to let the peakmasters choose disciples for their respective peaks.
As I was thinking about his offer, the peakmaster reminded:
"Don’t forget, Qin Feng. It was who took care of you when you were poisoned. Also, I’ll take you as my fifth disciple if you join my peak. You’ll beco an inner disciple right away."
"Huh? Father, why are you going so far to recruit him?" The girl asked with a baffled expression.
The Peakmaster glanced at warmly before answering his daughter:
"There are multiple reasons. First, he has a rare spirit that looks quite powerful. Second, I like this boy’s nature and determination. Even after losing his village, he hasn’t lost himself to grief. Third, I just feel this is the right thing to do. Fourth and final reason — I have the least amount of disciples among the peakmasters, this is a great opportunity to recruit one."
"Oh..." The girl turned quiet.
The peakmaster again asked: "So, Will you accept as your master?"
I didn’t think for long and nodded: "I will."
My reason was simple. I was directly becoming an inner disciple. Moreover, the peakmaster seed to care about .
After so more conversation, the peakmaster and his daughter left alone. He instructed about how to proceed from now on.
As soon as they had left, I pulled on my clothes, looking inside.
"Where is it?" I was nervous.
My clothes had changed and I couldn’t find the demonic treasure anywhere. Even the space ring was gone.
I didn’t know what happened after I fell unconscious in my house.
Maybe the ones who brought here were the ones who took the treasure or maybe the peakmaster took it.
I couldn’t help but sweat profusely.
"Did I really lose it as soon as I was entrusted it by master Xunzi?"
I felt like crying. I rembered how confidently I promised him that I’d complete his mission.
In my mind, only the demonic treasure’s image remained as I thought about the blunder I had made.
Soon, a crimson glow gushed out from my upper chest that instantly startled .
"W-What is happening?"

I touched my chest in bewildernt before suddenly I felt sothing around my neck.
It was hard in touch as if made from so tal.
I looked down and was instantly startled.
"Huh? How is the necklace on my neck?"
It was the demonic treasure. It appeared around my neck as if I was wearing it.
"Is it its ability? It can hide inside my body if I fall unconscious?"
"Phew... Well. It’s a good ability."
I was instantly relieved.
"What about the space ring then?" I wondered, looking at my hands.
Maybe it had also appeared around my finger.
However, I was not so lucky.
Though it was regretful, nothing could be done about it.
I focused on the demonic treasure, deciding to remove it from my neck.
I couldn’t wear it all the ti, showing it off to everyone, right?
My hands went behind my neck, trying to open the necklace.
"Huh? How does it open?"
I instantly panicked, not knowing how to take it off.
I then tried to pull it out by force, however, despite my attempts, I was unsuccessful.
It was as if it had already stuck to my neck.
"Don’t tell I’ll have to live my whole life wearing this thing around my neck"
I felt shivers down my spine just thinking about it.
