Standing on the deck of the ship, Apexion gazed at the ethereal dot with calculating eyes. "Space and ti leaking… and what is this force? It was as if sothing was calling out, echoing," he thought. The dot was akin to a breach in ti and space, and there was a force that seed to be echoing out from a different ti and space.
"This forbidden echo seems to be coming from the past," said Galene, who was standing beside him. She held a small yellow runic, ancient compass in her right hand.
The compass had a single shimring hand that pulsed intensely as it pointed to a symbol located on the left corner of the compass. The symbol represented the past.
"This device is called a forbidden echo locator. It has the ability to sense if the echo is coming from the past or the future, via a special frequency and ancientness," she further explained.
Right at that mont, Apexion's eyes flicker as his main self took over. After which, his body started to pulse with extre fascination and wonder.
"The past!" his voice then rang out.
"How frequently does sothing like this occur?" he questioned.
Galene retracted her gaze from the compass and looked at him. She felt sothing about him had changed, but she did not know what. Still, she answered nonetheless,
"Forbidden echoes are extrely, extrely rare. I have been alive for over two million years, and this is the second one I have ever encountered." Her voice was smooth.
Countless ideas flashed through his mind, and then he asked,
"Do you have any idea of what causes the forbidden echoes?" He wondered what could be terrifying enough to cause literal holes in space-ti.
Galene thought for a mont and then replied,
"No one knows for sure, at least no one at my tier… but over the years, I've overheard many whispers, legends… and most of these legends all seed to say the sa thing in one form or another." She walked up to him, tiptoed a little, leaned in, and whispered in his ear, "They say forbidden echoes are the actual echoes of the dead horrors sealed in the past and future.
They say that every now and then, these dead horrors will defy death, coming back to life, only to be embraced by death the next mont. But right before they die, they will let out one last grieving wail or roar so strong that it echoes through ti and space it self. And sotis, these echoes are so strong that they creates holes in ti and space."
Apexion's eyes flashed with endless wonder. "Dead beings, sealed in the past." He knew that once beings reached a certain level, there was basically no fundantal difference between life and death. For them, death was no longer permanent, but more of a tiout or rest period. Even for the current him, it was as such.
For example, if soone were to instantly destroy all of his clones, mind and body, he wouldn't be truly dead as long as there were traces of him existing, such as the tiniest cell, hair, statue, or depictions.
Just a creature rembering him would an he would be back eventually… and if soone worshipped him and offered sacrifices to him, he would be back even sooner.
This ant that beings such as the depraved one weren't really dead; eventually, he would be back, up, and running.
As for the seal, Apexion had an idea about what it was from the mory of the depraved one.
Another legend stated that a terrifying entity used its body to seal ti and space.
Its upper body sealed the past by locking it with its hands, and its lower body sealed the future by stepping on it, also locking it.
At first, he thought it was just a legend and nothing more, but now that he had observed this forbidden echo and heard about the other legend of sealed horrors, he thought differently. Now he believed there might actually be so truth to it.
His eyes narrowed, and he beca lost in endless thoughts of different scenarios. A second later, his eyes flashed, and he commanded,
"Enter!"
After which, Galene controlled the ship to shoot toward the dot. Soon it reached within one light year of the dot.
At this distance, the space around the dot was completely distorted, constantly twisting, folding, and spinning.
Apexion's eyes flashed, and then, shing! A glowing transparent barrier instantly materialized around the ship, shielding and protecting it.
Half a light year.
A quarter of a light year.
Soon the ship arrived before the dot, and without hesitation, it entered. Zap! Vanished.
…
The ship reappeared above what seed to be ancient ruins. The surroundings were what appeared to be the broken remains of an gigantic ancient forgotten kingdom that spanned light years in diater.
There were countless broken stone buildings that towered into the sky, the streets filled with cracks and overgrown trees and weeds. But what really stood out to him was the sole wooden cottage that stood at the center of this kingdom.
Unlike the rest of this place, the cottage seed to be in a golden state, fresh, with not a single crack or mole to be seen.
Suddenly, Apexion's eyes narrowed as he felt a terrible force descend upon the ship, including him, and,
whoosh!
the force pulled the ship toward the ground at breakneck speeds. While the ship shot toward the ground, sothing incredible happened to it, it started to shrink, including its inhabitants.
Hundred thousand km.
Fifty thousand km.
Twenty-five thousand km.
A thousand km.
The shrinking ca to a stop, as did the ship, It ca to a stop a few ters above the ground.
Apexion's eyes flashed as he contemplated what had just occurred while gazing at his body, which had been shrunk to a few hundred ters.
He also felt his strength being limited, along with his laws; in fact, he couldn't sense them anymore. Galene was the sa.
His strength now at the world stumper rank.
He paused for a second before the two of them exited the ship.
The mont they stepped off the ship and onto the broken street, sothing unexpected happened. Shing! The whole surroundings suddenly changed, becoming unbroken and alive.
Tall buildings that were once ruins were now renewed and pulsing vibrantly, and droves of six to seven tall humanoid creatures, with white skin tones, four long pointy ears on both sides of their heads, and long, slinky hair that flowed down to their backs, filled the bustling streets with joy.
But what really puzzled him was the fact that he couldn't sense any energy, any path radiating from them. They were basically at the supre king state, but for so reason, his instincts were telling him that they were a threat. He frowned and wondered,
"Why is this so?"
Suddenly, his eyes flashed as he sensed multiple gazes locked onto him. He could sense killing intent, hunger, curiosity, greed, or fear laced within these gazes.
Turning his head, his eyes darted side to side at extre speeds as he looked back at these gazes. A second later, he grinned silently.
"I see, damned ones, innate ones, and there seem to be?… ah yes, techno-wise, beings of the so-so techno extremity path." He gazed back at each and every single one of them with greater killing intent, hunger, curiosity, greed.
Tap!
And he took a single step forward, officially entering the kingdom.
