"Already prepared, just waiting for you guys to co and get it." Robert turned around and entered the gun shop. Not long after, he ca out carrying a large duffel bag.

"There was originally more, but I gave part of it to the nearby neighbors. Those monsters are increasing." Robert placed the duffel bag in front of Aiden and said. He had always been a kind person. If not for his daughter, he definitely would've chosen to stay and help the nearby survivors.

"Even if there's more, I can't take it. This is just right." Aiden said indifferently. He unzipped the duffel bag and took a look inside, nodding with satisfaction.

"Alright, you've got your stuff, and I should get going too." Robert glanced at his young daughter sitting in the front passenger seat. She was hugging a rag doll and staring blankly ahead. The scene made his heart ache terribly.

"I really don't want to stay here for even one more second." He then got into the driver's seat and said to Aiden.

"Then, I wish you good luck on your journey." Aiden slung the duffel bag on his back and waved at Robert.

"You too." Robert also smiled and waved back, then started the car and drove toward the outskirts of the city.

After watching the car leave, Aiden felt much better. Especially the guilt from robbing the gun shop earlier, it completely disappeared at this mont.

"Good people will live in peace for a lifeti... this warmth touches the world..." Humming off-key, Aiden slowly walked back to his residence.

After winding through several turns and returning to his place, Aiden locked the doors and windows, carried the duffel bag to the bedroom on the second floor.

Stuffing the gun bag under the bed, Aiden went to the kitchen, picked a can of beef as dinner, then returned to the living room, turned on the TV, and ate while watching the news.

"The Mayor and the Police Chief assure citizens that they have the ability to clear the infected in the city and protect the safety of the city and its people. Please stay at ho and do not go out casually..."

"Raccoon City police have already cleared multiple streets. This is a historic victory..."

"Raccoon City Police Chief, Mr. Irons, has issued a new order to distribute weapons and ammunition from the police departnt's armory across various streets in the city..."

"This is Raccoon City's evening news. Let's connect to our frontline reporter, Jerry..."

Static "...This is Jerry... static Damn it, those monsters are increasing... static we... static help..."

After watching the Raccoon City evening news, Aiden also finished the beef can. He placed the empty can on the coffee table and got up to the bathroom to wash up and get ready for bed.

Soon, it was midnight.

Sleeping in his clothes, Aiden suddenly opened his eyes, sat up on the bed, and perked his ears to listen carefully.

Soone was prying his door.

Aiden's face changed. He turned over and got out of bed, silently leaned against the wall next to the bedroom door, and casually took a loaded AR-15 from behind the door.

After checking the rifle's safety, Aiden slowly twisted open the bedroom door and continued walking out, sticking to the wall.

At this ti, he could already see the situation on the first floor through the gap in the corridor railing.

Ten ard intruders were standing in the living room. One of them seed to say sothing, and then the others spread out in groups, covering each other while searching the rooms.

'Very professional movents. They've all received professional training.'

Seeing their actions, Aiden's heart sank. He knew who sent these people.

Umbrella Corporation.

They had their own security force, and most of the mbers were ex-military professionals.

'Really going all out—ten-man standard combat squad!'

Aiden frowned slightly, feeling it was a bit troubleso. A ten-man combat squad wasn't easy to deal with. Of course, it was only troubleso.

Seeing a three-man squad already stepping onto the stairs, Aiden withdrew his thoughts and aid his gun at the stairway entrance.

Very soon, a security soldier from Umbrella appeared at the stair entrance. Aiden decisively pulled the trigger, firing a long burst.

At such close range, the bullets barely spread. Although the soldier was wearing a bulletproof vest, the concentrated bullets still penetrated it. His body went limp and rolled down the stairs.

The two behind him started climbing up after hearing the gunshots, but the falling body slowed them down. This gave Aiden plenty of ti to aim. Another long burst, another soldier fell.

The remaining one sensed things were bad and decisively retreated. Aiden wanted to keep him there, but the sudden dense firepower made him retreat instead.

"Can't you people just rest properly at night?" The intense bullets made it impossible for Aiden to lift his head, so he shouted loudly.

But in response, the enemy's fire beca even more intense.

Bullet rain turned the second floor into a wreck. Even the bedroom door behind Aiden was blasted in two, its top half swayed a bit, then fell, adding to the tragic atmosphere.

"If the landlord saw this, he'd definitely regret renting to Jill." Aiden muttered lying on the ground. "Hope Jill still has money for compensation."

Fortunately, this kind of suppressive fire didn't last long. It couldn't kill the target unless Aiden was unlucky enough to get hit by a stray bullet.

But obviously that was unlikely, the chances were too low.

So after several minutes of firing, a few soldiers broke formation and began advancing to the second floor. At the sa ti, other guards reduced fire and switched to rhythmic precision shots.

Hearing the gunfire slow down, Aiden understood their plan. He crouched and ran, not back, but forward, towards the staircase.

They were using long guns. The greater the distance, the worse his odds. Better to close the distance and drag them into lee.

And soon enough, his decision proved right.

Just as Aiden reached the stairway, he ran into the approaching soldier. Seeing Aiden, the front soldier reflexively tried to shoot.

But they were already very close, so close that Aiden could grab the barrel with a stretch of his arm. He imdiately lifted the barrel up.

Bang! bang! bang!

The gun fired, but all bullets hit the ceiling.

The soldier reacted quickly, reaching for his pistol with one hand, but Aiden didn't give him the chance. He landed a straight punch to the neck.

With superhuman strength, Aiden shattered the soldier's neck. The man coughed blood, held his neck, and rolled down the stairs, crashing into another soldier coming to help.

That soldier pushed the corpse off him, but before he could get up, Aiden jumped down and stomped his head in.

The remaining soldiers aid their guns at him imdiately, but before they could fire, Aiden moved fast.

More agile than a normal person, he pounced like a mountain cat. In the blink of an eye, he was in front of the nearest soldier.

That soldier had just emptied his magazine and was reloading. Seeing this, he panicked and tried to retreat, but forgot the living room was only so big. After just two steps back, he hit the wall, and Aiden crashed into him.

A dull thud. His chest caved in visibly. Kevlar vests could stop small-caliber bullets but not Aiden's hamr-like impact.

After this, Aiden's speed slowed. There wasn't ti to switch targets, so he quickly ducked into the nearby kitchen and shut the door.

The remaining soldiers chased after him but only crowded at the door, not daring to enter.

One soldier, following a comrade's signal, took out a grenade. Just as he pulled the pin and was about to throw it in after a breach—

Aiden, who had already jumped out the kitchen window and circled to the front, saw it. He drew his pistol and shot the soldier's wrist.

The grenade and the severed hand fell to the ground.

boom!

It exploded among the soldiers, who cursed loudly.

Then Aiden walked in, picked up a fallen rifle, and finished off the wounded security guard with a clean shot.

After eliminating all enemies, Aiden didn't linger. He rushed back to the second floor, grabbed his gun bag, and cleaned up the battlefield. The soldiers were using real military-grade gear, it would be a waste not to take it.

With a full bag of guns and ammo, Aiden left the scene.

Though Raccoon City's police force was stretched thin, and they might not care about this "minor issue," it's always better to be cautious and avoid trouble.

———

In the blink of an eye, it was September 28.

Aiden sat at the dining table, eating a carefully prepared breakfast.

Of course, "carefully prepared" just ant heating up canned food, but Aiden still enjoyed the rare quiet alti.

After all, five days ago, Raccoon City's situation had already beco completely irreversible.

The virus finally spread into the city center, and many citizens beca infected.

Raccoon City had beco a city of the dead.

Aiden had participated in the police departnt's defense battle, but unfortunately, just like in the original story, it failed. For various reasons, only a few survived, and Aiden was one of them.

Sighing lightly, Aiden finished breakfast, packed his gear, made sure nothing was left behind, then left his room carrying the gun bag.

As soon as he opened the door, a pungent stench hit him. Aiden knew, it was the unique sll of the dead.

He raised his gun and shot down a zombie that was approaching. Then he looked up at the sky, gloomy and dark. It looked like a heavy rain was coming.

His mood imdiately dropped. He hated this kind of weather.

Sighing again, Aiden strode toward a nearby car. He smashed the window with his rifle butt and dragged out the zombie driver inside.

"Sorry, bro, I'm borrowing your car."

Without caring for permission, Aiden got in. Before starting the engine, he gave the poor driver a shot to the head, then drove off.
