"I brought the drinks."

Logan arrived at his friend's house carrying his finest alcohol.

"Perfect timing—we were just about to start. There's an extra spot here. Want to join us?"

In the living room, there were four TVs set up, each connected to a GSX console, all already displaying the ga screen.

"No thanks. I'm just here to watch."

Logan felt a strong aversion to gas. Because his own works had failed to gain attention, he instinctively blad video gas for stealing the spotlight.

"That's a sha. We even bought an extra console just in case you wanted to join. Why not give it a shot? Who knows, maybe it'll even inspire your next novel?"

...

...

"Heh, as if. A ga is just a ga. It doesn't bring any real value," Logan scoffed.

As he spoke, he opened several bottles and passed them to his friend and the other two guests.

"Thanks! Oh, it's starting! Let's take down the Anjanath!"

The group took a big gulp of beer and dove into their hunt.

"Tch, what's so fun about this?" Logan muttered to himself.

In his mind, gas were for children. Adults shouldn't still be wasting ti on such trivial things.

He drank his beer while trying to think of ideas for his next novel.

Right. The next book would be about a stunningly beautiful woman—soone truly breathtaking.

He strained his mind, imagining every detail of her.

But the noise around him constantly broke his train of thought.

Still, he didn't mind too much. He was just casually brainstorming, anyway.

Every now and then, he cast a judgntal glance toward the three who were fully imrsed in Monster Hunter.

Weirdly dressed characters swinging bizarre weapons at giant monsters—what was the appeal of sothing like that?

If it were up to him, he'd add things like rocket launchers and guided missiles. That would be way more effective than oversized swords and lances.

He just couldn't understand how this deliberately challenging kind of entertainnt had beco so popular.

He kept drinking, and before long, ten or twenty minutes had passed.

"Woo! Hunt complete! Check what loot you guys got!"

"Ahaha! I got the Anjanath gem! Today's my lucky day!"

One of them jumped up in excitent. Logan couldn't understand why he was so thrilled—it's just a ga...

But deep down, he was a little jealous. Jealous that sothing as simple as a ga could bring people so much joy. If only his work could have the sa effect...

That thought made the envy worse.

Whatever. Back to imagining that beautiful female character...

"Hey Logan, when do you plan to head back?"

After the hunt, the three seed ready for a break. Each of them grabbed a beer and started chatting about the ga again. Logan's friend rembered his presence and spoke up.

"? I'm just here for the drinks. How long are you guys planning to stay at it?"

"We're going all night. There's a new ga dropping at midnight—we're all waiting for it!"

They lit up with excitent as they ntioned the upcoming release. Clearly, this ga ant a lot to them.

Logan didn't care much, but he was enjoying the drinks, at least.

"By the way, are you sure you don't want to give the ga a try? Honestly, I think it'd be good for you to relax a little."

"No, really. I'm not interested."

Logan turned him down again. He had no desire to interact with this stuff.

"That's too bad."

His friend turned back to the others. "Wanna go for another hunt?"

"Let's do it! This ga is amazing—we've got to get our money's worth!"

The two others were still pumped.

This was the new HD version of Monster Hunter. In the past, because the series was limited to handhelds, the visuals were pixelated and jagged.

But now, with Monster Hunter: World launching on the GSX console, the graphics had taken a massive leap forward.

Even more importantly, the ga had carved a new path—a semi-open world format that never got old.

They used to play Monster Hunter just for the thrill of the hunts. Now, they could spend hours exploring: catching bugs, mining ore, picking mushrooms, even stealing wyvern eggs. It was all surprisingly fun.

"Heh, I finally finished my armor set. Looks aweso, right?"

"Wow! That Anjanath gear looks super sturdy! Let's test the defense next!"

"Nah, Diablos armor is the coolest."

"You're crazy. Odogaron's gear is the best—the sleek red design totally hits my aesthetic kink!"

"You're disgusting. It's just armor."

"Shut up!"

The three of them argued passionately. Logan remained like an outsider, but he didn't mind. He was just here to drink.

Still, watching them was oddly entertaining.

Was this... really that fun?

Logan's friend was actually a successful guy, well-known in his field.

Soone like that should be spending his free ti swimming, horseback riding, or golfing—not gaming.

And yet, here he was, absolutely loving it. It made no sense.

Soon, the three dove into another hunt.

His friend didn't forget him, though. He turned back and asked, "Still not gonna try? It's really fun."

"No thanks." Logan waved him off. "I'm working through the setup of a new literary piece."

"A new book? Don't forget to send a copy when it's done. I'll definitely support you!"

Logan gave a wry smile and nodded. "Sure."

Then his friend turned back to the ga with the others.

This ti, they didn't choose a specific monster. They just wanted to wander around Rotten Vale, gathering materials and casually fighting anything that crossed their path.

Many players in Monster Hunter: World were like that now—people who previously had no interest in the series.

But thanks to the ga's beginner-friendly design, Monster Hunter: World reached an all-ti high in sales.
