[KOSTA]

"He will keep suffering for as long as Grealor lives," Yilena said coldly, and Kosta growled at his guardian. He couldn’t even think straight, and he was being thrust into sothing else?

Did Yilena really not have a heart?

"Don’t you dare... don’t say that na to ... not here," Kosta gritted in rage, but Yilena was unfazed. It was like she had dealt with such tantrums over the years, and she had gotten around them.

Nothing scared her anymore, not even the way that her brother was drilling holes into her head, ready to slice her up into pieces if she didn’t fix his son. This was crazy, but it was what life had beco for Kosta and the royals.

"Why... is it hard to hear? Do you think that makes it any easier on my end? This kid loses himself each ti you are near, and as if that isn’t enough, you get lost too. You hurt each ti you are part.

"I am your guardian, for fucks sake, and even I can’t protect you against love. I told you the first ti, didn’t I? I told you that you needed to wait, but you couldn’t wait. And now look where you both are.

"...Hurting each other indirectly in the na of love. You think I didn’t see the battlefield? You think I wasn’t here to see you lose yourself and your sanity? This is not what I was tasked with, Kostantin.

"And I won’t let you hurt yourself. If keeping you away from my nephew is the only way for both of us to live, then I will do it. You can hate for as long as you want, if that is what keeps you sane.

"But you must rember that the closer your hearts move to each other, the harder it gets, and eventually the ultimatum will tear you both to pieces. You can try to fight on this, kid, but I assure you—

"...when it cos to protecting you, not even the moon goddess would ever stand a chance against . Try ," Yilena said, frustratedly and determined.

Kosta could swear he felt his knees buckle again.

He was not ready for things like this. He had never been so ready for it, and now it all scared the hell out of him because what the fuck was she supposed to say to him that would make it make sense then?

The truth was cruel, and no matter how desperately Yilena wanted to end it all, there was no way around it. The solution lay in Kosta staying away while Yilena tried to figure out a way for the kids, and the mad king saw that.

It was crazy enough, but maybe life would be better, no?

"No... You don’t get to just... no!" Kosta snarled.

It was then that the king knew he had to keep the barbarian steady. It was a risk he was taking, a chance he had to make for the sake of his son and the kid they all swore to protect and love carefully.

This was beyond what Kosta felt and beyond what Tamiko was in at the mont. If this wasn’t fixed, the kid would lose his sanity, and well, everything would eventually go boom sooner than later.

"Igor, focus. Let Yilena do her work..." King Zaffuto reminded, his grip on Kosta’s shoulder tightening again.

Kosta just chuckled sadly and angrily.

He had been patient.

Gods, he had been patient all the ti.

But now it was like they were taking advantage of that, and he hated it because, at the end of the day, there was nothing that could find what life and love had beco for them.

It was unhinged and cruel, and it wasn’t fair.

Not in any way.

"I would understand if Uncle Sadako was the one telling to focus, to let this go and think rationally. But you? You saw it yourself. You have seen firsthand what this has done to both of us.

"Then you still stand here talking about focusing when all Nana has done the entire ti is create a wedge between us. First, it was the ultimatum. Then the won that she kept sending my Erasthai to the palace over the years.

"Then I chose to stay beside Sanji, and even that was taken from . Now I co back to the love of my life, and he is dying? What the heck?" Kosta cried out, not noticing the way that Yilena flinched at the ntion of Sanji.

But Danny saw it all.

Even if he had no explanation for that.

The king, on the other hand, stared softly.

He was at a loss for words.

As a king, he would easily banish Yilena and strip her of all her Hinata power.

But as a father...

The king was at a crossroads.

He knew that this hurt Kosta and Tamiko.

He knew that the pain was not going to go away soon, especially with what Yilena had ntioned.

And now King Zaffuto understood why Sadako had been honest with him the first ti he learned about Tamiko. How Sadako had told him that being a father was going to be the greatest of his sanity ever than when he had lost Liana.

It was not right, but it was what they had in store for them.

The king had learned to see the line that lay between fatherhood and kingship and gods; was he a fearful father right now?

He was a helpless father who had seen his son be loved wholly by Kosta.

A father who had seen the barbarian do everything in his power to make his son happy.

A father who had watched his son smile more when Kosta was involved.

And now he was the father who had to be strong for the kid he was close to, because that was the only way to reassure them both of Tamiko’s life. It was a cruel fate, but it was one that they had no power over.

King Zaffuto was feeling the brunt of it all.

"Tone down, Igor. The longer you struggle against this, the more Tamiko gets hurt. You can’t scare him in that state, and we both know that he may be in and out of consciousness, but he feels your pain more than we can ever be able to feel his pain," the king said calmly.

That shut Kosta up instantly.

Kosta had known that truth, but he had hoped that it would work in their favor, that it would make it easier to diagnose what the fuck was wrong with Tamiko.

Yetnd yet once again his eyes were strange as hell in the field that was now slowing down, a field that was supposed to be for the banquet, yet instead had gotten their hearts facing other sorts of ways.

What kind of fate was this?

"He needs ... uncle," Kosta said in defeat, silencing even Yilena and the king.

This was the first ti since Sahina had left Kosta in the hands of Sadako, the mad king, and Yilena that Kosta let himself lean towards the king being his uncle. And it hurt because this was him trying to get through Zaffuto to get Zaffuto to not separate them.

It was a mont that had even Danny wondering sadly.

"You need to rest, Konstantin. We will handle Tamiko," the king said.

Before Kosta could say anything else, the mad king knocked him out with his magic, sothing that had Danny wondering if he was next.
