[THE FREE LANDS]

The first chamber was not what Zaffuto had expected.

It was neat and almost looked like ho.

The mad king had expected the place to be dirty and for everything to be a ss but the shock on his face was evident when he looked at his son’s Erasthai who was sprawled on the bed, clearly knocked out unconscious with his mask patch on.

He looked so innocent and unaware of what was happening around him. Maybe it was a side effect of the powder that had been shoved at him, or maybe it was because, for the first ti in so many years, he was finally getting the rest he needed.

The mad king looked at his Lycan Chief, the worry on his face settling on sothing that he couldn’t quite put a finger on. It was almost a relief, but that was too much even for him, so he left it at that.

"Oh goddess," Danny’s voice interrupted the king’s line of throat as he finally took a good look at the place the Lycan chief was at. They had expected the conditions to be deplorable, but there was nothing shitty about this place.

It felt like ho, which was weird because Danny could have sworn that Zula was the worst person in the realm. And if she had been keeping Kosta safe like that, why the fuck was she not talking then? ,

Why did she push the king into hurting her first?

What the fuck was she playing at this ti?

"Wake him up," King Zaffuto said and Dann stared at him in confusion.

He wasn’t there; his face was the first thing that Igor Konstantin would have wanted to see when he woke up. It wasn’t even sothing he had to think of because, at the end of the day, they had to think and fast.

This was not how they had imagined a lot of things, but at the mont, Danny was sure that the man wouldn’t want to see him. He was always trying to kill him and they didn’t have the best of histories.

The man couldn’t be trusted with Danny’s safety just like Danny was certain that his safety fount be entrusted to the mad barbarian. And yet sohow, even in all of that, a part of Danny felt bad for the Lycan Chief.

He looked so peaceful; like this was the first ti he was taking this chance, but then what was Danny supposed to do to that?

Igor Konstantin was an oga who needed his Erasthai and Daniel Belova wasn’t exactly the person to be helping him out with that. Maybe it was crazy, but life wasn’t always as simple for them too, right?

"But sire..." Danny tried but the king insisted.

"You are a Lycan Lord, he knows he can’t hurt you because you are on the sa side. Wake him up, Daniel," King Zaffuto insisted and Danny sighed.

He wasn’t sure what the king was hoping to get by putting him on the spot like that, but he hoped that this wasn’t yet another ga for the wild king.

Maybe that was insane for him, but then the king was unpredictable and no one knew what to expect from their man. He was always cold and hot whenever he felt like and Danny wasn’t sure what the king was going for this ti.

Perhaps his doom was what was bound, right? But even then, would it ever make sense when life was not as fickle as it had always been for them then?

"Okay sire," Danny said as he walked over to her Igor lay, oblivious to what was happening.

"I can’t..." Danny suddenly said with conviction.

The king stared at him like he had lost his mind. He was disobeying a direct order which was hilarious because the king was here with him and Zaffuto Hinata could make him suffer for that.

All of this was unhinged on so many fronts and yet Daniel didn’t seem so worried about his safety suddenly. It was crazy what life had beco for him and how he had gotten to this point with the man, but then what did he expect when he brought another crazy wolf into his life, right?

"What do you an you can’t?" Zaffuto asked curiously.

He could see that the young wolf was determined to never see this gut and that was interesting to him. They had been looking around the realm for them, and now that they had finally found him it was like life was not worth anything again.

That shit was weird as fuck because none of it made any sense. It was like life was not supposed to be that complex and yet at the sa ti it was a reality that was worth looking into.

"I an just that. Tamiko needs his Erasthai. He needs to be here, not . We have already found the Chief, and we need to call Tamiko. He has been losing his shit with his Erasthai and if we don’t do that, who knows how many more he will have to murder?

"You said it yourself... you don’t want him to be defined by the count of people he murdered. That is so kind of shit that even you understand can be controlled as early as now.

"If you ss it up for him, he will be a bloodthirsty beast even without his thirst for vengeance against Grealor. Is that a risk you want to take... Uncle?" Danny said and the king started in amusent.

The young wolf had so balls and that was what he needed in the Lycan Lord that was ant to safeguard his son. They both knew that it was best for Tamiko to be the one Igor woke up to and right now, Danny was just proving him right.

This man could be trusted with his son and Zaffuto Hinata couldn’t have been happier.

"I knew I didn’t make the wrong decision with you," King Zaffuto said and Danny stared at him in confusion.

This king was a piece of work and honestly, Danny didn’t understand what the fuck he ant by that. It’s almost like life was worth living for the first ti in so long. Maybe that was what and it all made sense because love and light had finally erged.

"I’m just being my brother’s keeper, sire. He’s always had my back whenever," Danny said in earnest and the king stared at him softly.

Maybe there was always going to be more for them to work through, but for now, here in this damn shelter, they were on the sa side. It was a beautiful sight that anyone would have wished to be a part of.

Perhaps there would co a ti for that in the near future, but until then, life had to be lived.

"Stay with him while I deal with Zula," King Zaffuto said and Danny just nodded.

He didn’t have much to say to that really because his mind was filled with his brother’s reaction.

He had always been happy when Tamiko was happy and right now, Danny hoped that whatever the fuck had been going on between the barbarian and his best friend was sothing they could fix.

The duo was obviously miserable without each other and they couldn’t let strangers define their bond, probably what made life harder for Igor and Tamiko, but surely there had to be a way for them to make it make sense, right?

"Now, Zula. Undo the masking," Zaffuto said as he kicked his sister’s head to wake her up. She looked like she was truly dying, but her brother didn’t have other ideas in mind, it was almost like a ga for them and one that they had played for years on end.

It was crazy how shit had always been for them, but then that didn’t matter to Zaffuto now the only thing he had been waiting for was happening. And now he needed to make certain that there weren’t any complications.

"I hate you," Zula forced out when she regained her consciousness. She looked like hell, and worse than anyone could ever possibly be at the mont. Perhaps this was what hell would forever look like for her, but Zaffuto Hinata couldn’t care less about all of that.

What he wanted was for his son’s Erasthai to be free and he would be damned if he let Zula fuck up the one thing that seed to be going well for him and his little Tamiko. Maybe that was also why the king was not tolerant.

He had seen his son suffer once, and he wouldn’t let him suffer for a second ti. This was the first and the last ti... he would make sure of that.

"Joi thee queue, little sister. Now, undo the masking. I’m not leaving here without you doing that," Zaffuto said and Zula couldn’t help but scoff at the absurdity.

If Zaffuto wanted to have the masking scent removed he could have in it himself. He was doing this to humiliate Zula and unfortunately, it was working.

Zula had seen this coming from the mont he had co to ask for Igor.

She had realized just how much the barbarian was important to him which was weird because, in his entire life, Zaffuto Hinata had only ever cared about two people. His queen – Liana and his best friend – Lord Sadako.

"You will regret this, Zaffuto. I will co for you and everyone you love. It’s such a pity you have very few of them," Zula said and Zaffuto chuckled before he pressed on to Zula, forcing the woman to undo the asking.

"Co prepared, because I always am," Zaffuto said before snapping her neck the mont she lifted the barriers.
