"Are you alright, my lady?" Katarina Velos asked Serena Weisse in her chambers. After a series of unfortunate events during the anniversary, the young maid approached her mistress to check upon her well-being.
"Rina, are you asking whether or not I'm alright or are you trying to check on my ntal faculties for the decisions I've made earlier." Serena Weisse was currently at her desk, making and checking her notes.
"My lady–"
"You've always spoken so freely. Why hesitate now?" Serena smiled.
"I… I do worry about your decisions, my lady. Asking that Vardoken to leave the city of Lux? You might as well have been setting them free, my lady. Surely, you do understand the catastrophic nature of this situation far more clearly than I am. Is there sothing that I am not seeing but her ladyship has foreseen in all her wisdom?"
One of Serena Weisse's eyes twitched at that flattery and lip service and soon she turned to glance at her old childhood friend.
"You think that the Vardokens are the one who are at fault for attacking that Tenebris girl."
"Well, there's no other individual with strong vendetta–"
"After we had already stripped all their authority, power and possessions away, do you still think that they have the capacity to provoke the entire city into this state of unrest? You certainly give them far more credit than I think is worth their na, Katarina."
"You do not know them as well–"
"But you do?" Serena raised a brow. "When I started growing up, they were already powerless and without the capacity to do anything. The girl–the girl you dragged earlier works at VitaBlood! She should have been living in the sa luxury and prestige that I'm in and yet she has sunk low to that position and yet you think she's capable of baring her fangs against us?"
"If not her then–"
"We should be far more worried about the existence of RH Null being available within the city of Lux. That blood type is exceedingly rare even amongst humans that the fact that soone was able to procure it and use it against the city council mbers is troubleso and worth investigation."
"That's true, my lady." Katarina nodded. "If you would allow –"
"But that's rely but another one of my tasks for the city. If there's anything I'm truly more concerned about, it is obtaining the blood gourd. Sothing that even I didn't know existed–what do you think that ans, Rina?"
"It must have not been important–"
"There were once several Overlords for a reason, Rina. Each Overlord had their own wisdom and power to share with their people and the fact that I'm the only one left here in the city of Lux with any resemblance of authority is concerning."
"And this is why my lady should have considered the marriage offers with the children of other Overlords from other cities, my lady. The city of Lux lies at the border between the humans and Vampires, and we need to be strengthened–"
"Now is not the ti." Serena held up a hand and then slowly stood up. She picked up a folder, placed it within an envelope and then tucked it underneath her arm. "I have been aning to visit Lukas now."
"Lukas? You an one of those orphans–"
"That caught even the eye of the Guildmaster." Serena reminded her friend. "For one reason or another, despite his background, his blood… seems so pure."
"What if you're rely mistaken, my lady." Katarina said. "Perhaps he is strong, but we simply do not know the complete bloodline of this one, and even then, we would have known from the start if it was anything special like an Overlord's–"
"I don't have enough ti, Rina. He is leaving tomorrow, I will be eting with him now."
Serena Weisse could have traveled with mist, but since she was carrying a docunt–she instead chose to turn into a bat. Picking up the envelope with her two feet, she quickly flew out the window before Katarina could nab her out of air.
It didn't take her too long to reach the apartnt complex of the Atticus family and soon she flew to the glass window where Lukas resided.
Serena ended up seeing the young man and Chaerin Atticus all huddled up together. The two tangled around each other like two lovers in embrace. While she privately held her own opinions about the man's decisions–she chose not to comnt and instead waited.
As expected, even without a word or squeak from Serena, Lukas lifted his head and t her gaze. His eyes widened and he muttered sothing along the lines of a curse before he slowly removed himself from the bed and then padded his way out to the door.
Eventually, the two ended up eting outside of the apartnt complex. Serena Weisse waited for him with a folder in hand.
"Um… good evening. Isn't it a bit late?" Lukas said.
"Good evening. Good morning. Those greetings are always an odd thing to have been picked up from the human race–especially when we are always bathed in the night sky." Serena motioned upwards idly with her hand.
"Y-yeah. What can I do for you?" Lukas scratched the back of his head. "I don't think you would have co out of nowhere to simply speak rhetorics with , right? You were the one who asked Stacy to co with out of Lux to find the blood gourd so you know that I should be getting as much rest as possible."
"Eager to return to the arms of Miss Atticus?" Serena said. She didn't know why she even brought it up, but sohow the words slipped out faster than she could control them. "I… I suppose that's fair because you will not be seeing her for quite so ti."
"On the contrary…" Lukas began and then shook his head. "It doesn't matter, but she'll be coming along with too. But what's with that envelope in your hand?"
