The attaching part was what would determine the true outco of it all. If Arthur didn't do it correctly, there was a great chance that all his progress would have been for naught.
Thus, to make sure that he had the best chance of succeeding, Arthur took it slow.
First, he held the handle in a vise, and made another mark on it. This mark was about three inches long. He then started sawing it again, this ti carefully.

Repeating the process five tis, Arthur had all the handles ready.
'Now to insert them.' Arthur took the claws and heated them at the forge.
He only heated the part that was supposed to be inserted into the handle. He did it till they were red hot. Then in the next mont, he inserted them into the slits he had cut into the handles.

The wood burned from the hot claws and was seared black on the inside. Even the edges of it seed to be burned from it.
"Now!' Arthur quickly picked up so tal wire and wrapped it around the front of the handle tightly.

The hissing sound continued as the wood continued to burn further. But this was exactly what Arthur wanted, as the wood was being burned into the shape of the claw. Since it was an irregular shape, this was an easier way of fitting it while the wire continued to compress it.
A few seconds later, the wire was tightly wound and the work was done.

"It worked!" Arthur was in joy.
The result was better than he had expected as well. He would have been fine with the throwing knife being low grade. The only thing he didn't want was for it to fail and waste the materials.
But not only had he succeeded, but he had also gotten a bonus due to the proper application of the Blacksmith's advice.

"Huh?" But on the third attempt, Arthur didn't see the sa quality as before.
It had fallen by a level, making Arthur wonder what had gone wrong. After looking at the claw, he reckoned it might just have been of a lower quality than the others since the start.
He could see so fine nicks on it, showing that it had been used more than the others.
'Was this the claw I used to fight before this with the Razer tusk and the Bandits?' Arthur wondered.
He checked the other claws, and confird that this was indeed the sa claw he had used before. There was one more claw that had a few nicks and scratches, but it was not on the sa level as this.
'Its durability was lowered because of that. Perhaps if there was no bonus from the Blacksmith's advise, this might have just failed from the start. The bonus rely allowed it to succeed in this case.
"Let's try with the more damaged one for this, too." Arthur muttered and picked the fourth claw that had sustained so damage from Arthur's use.

"Just as I thought." Arthur confird his doubts after seeing the quality.
It was indeed the claws that he had used the most before that were now turning into low quality throwing knives.
"Hopefully, the others are better than this." Arthur said before working on it.

"Good!" Seeing that the fifth attempt was also of mid quality, Arthur felt better.
It wasn't that his effort was lacking in this case, but rather the materials themselves that were defective.

He could tell that it wasn't due to the claw, as it was of the sa quality as the other claws that had turned into mid quality knives.
But after thinking for a couple of minutes, he realized it.
"Is this due to my skill improving? It was the last claw I made, after all." He muttered to himself.
