Chapter 196: Cashing out
Even if she did not yet know the full ramifications of her quest completion, Belladonna was sure that it was going to be nothing but beneficial to her. Loyalty was great on its own, after all. Especially loyalty from a man like that.
If she could exploit that loyalty to get more things from him, then she really would be swimming in money.
Speaking of, with Dragon based business completed, pouches enchanted and people informed of the impending apocalypse. It was finally time to complete the most important part of their quest here.
Getting all the money!
With it split into separate piles by her delightful assistant Sebbie, it was easy for everyone to start loading their shares into their newly enchanted pouches. Greedy smiles were plastered across their faces as they shovelled in the coins by the handful.
Even Revenant couldn’t help himself, the pile of glittering gold just had that special allure to it. Able to enchant anyone, no matter how cold and callous their heart.
Ten thousand gold. Ten thousand! That was how much each of them received in the final share. A staggering amount that was composed of the basic gold Regil as well as a few Nux coins, the lowest amount that the local nobles used with each Nux being worth 100 Regil.
Who wouldn’t be satisfied with a haul like that?
Besides the egg and the gold, they even took the random minerals and ores that were scattered around the cave. Some to sell, some to craft with. Out of the corner of her eye, Belladonna even saw Saige pop one of the ores into his mouth and crunch on it like it was candy.
She decided not to ask about that, for the moment, and just left him to his oddities.
It did, strangely, remind her that she had a gift waiting in her bag.
"Hey, Lilith. Here, I have a little something for you." Belladonna said with a smile, pulling the Dragon Scales from her Bottomless bag and placing them into the hands of the towering Hellion.
"I thought you could make some armour out of them, increase your aura and defense all in one go. Who knows, maybe if you do it will help your new pet see you as a true Momma Dragon."
Lilith gazed at the scales in her hands with sparkling eyes, before quickly putting them away in her own bag to keep them safe.
"Oh these are fantastic! You have no idea how much I can actually do with these, thank you. Soon, everyone is going to know me as the Demonic Mother of Dragons! Ahaha!" She said with a wicked cackle, scooping up her egg once again and starting to set it up with a papoose so she could carry it hands free.
Belladonna turned away with a smile, only to be met with the expectant stares of the remaining three members of her party. They were all giving her puppy dog eyes, and she could practically see imaginary tails wagging in expectation (as well as a literal tail in Saige’s case) as they were waiting for their own treats.
"Oh uh... Sorry guys, I couldn’t get much from the dragon so I don’t have something for all of you. Although really if you think about it, knowledge of the future and real magic, as well as a boat load of gold should really be classed as a good gift. What more could you ask for?"
"Some Dragon swag would be nice..." Figg muttered, half joking and half serious, before wincing in pain as Vestra elbowed him in the ribs.
"Haha, okay fine. I got some meat from it too, and although I sold some and have some for Beans. I should have enough to cook you up a nice Dragon meat meal. How does that sound? Swag enough for you?"
Figg perked up, nodding eagerly, as did the other two as their tails, both imaginary and literal, swished from side to side happily. Belladonna laughed at their spoilt behaviour and shook her head, before making her way out of the cave.
Getting out of the cave was easier than getting in. Since they had confirmed that there was no gas build up down here, mostly because they did not choke or smell anything bad, Belladonna was fine to use her fire runes to get herself and a few others out.
The putrid Dragon was the ride for the other members of their group. Even if its wings were nothing but bone and torn, rotten flesh, somehow that thing still managed to fly against all known laws of aviation. Magic was strange like that.
Once they were out, Revenant left them to go do... whatever it was, whilst the others wanted to go log out and try to develop their real world magic, since now they had a pretty big incentive to do so.
So they skipped grinding or running dungeons, and instead headed straight back to town.
With a quick stop at the bank, to deposit most of their new earnings so that any handsy thieves didn’t get any ideas, they booked rooms in the local inn and quickly logged off. Not before setting a date for their Draconic dinner party, that was.

Valerie pulled the crown from her head and stretched her arms, only for one of them to bump against something cold and metallic.
She immediately turned around, finding Jinu standing beside her bed with a plate of freshly made waffles in his hands, which he immediately pushed towards her.
Valerie ignored them however, and instead looked across the room to where Percy had been sitting when they logged in. However his chair was empty at the moment, with no sign of him.
"Hey Jinu, where is Percy? Is he training or something?"
There were a few moments of silence, before Jinu’s mechanical voice answered her.
"Master Percy has stepped out a few hours ago. He will return soon. In the meantime, you should eat something and regain your strength."
He pushed the waffles towards her again.
Valerie frowned deeply, taking hold of the plate on habit before pausing and looking down at the waffles she was being offered.
"Wait... stepped out? Stepped out where? If Percy is gone, then who made these? I don’t let you cook anything, and you could never make anything this good."
Valerie turned her eyes up to Jinu, glaring at the stupid, handsome picture she had plastered over his face, which in turned stared back at her with empty eyes.
"Jinu... I asked you a question. Who made these? Who else is in the-"
The plate dropped from her hand as Jinu shifted suddenly, thrusting his hand towards her and clamping it tight around her throat. His mechanical fingers squeezing tight and cutting off her airflow as they locked around her throat like an iron vice.
