Chapter 52: Big Money
Six months rent. Six entire months rent! That’s how much was scribbled down on this flimsy little paper and handed to her like it was nothing. Actually, it was even worse, because they didn’t even bother handing it to her.
They just left it in a box that... she almost threw out. Oh god! She had almost lost this much money!
Her joy briefly turned to panic and horror, before she got her emotions under control and reread the letter for the third ti, all while keeping the check clutched tightly in her hand in case it mysteriously blew away.
After carefully reading over it, the letter detailed that this was paynt for her in-ga journal, the one she had been detailing all of her notes, thoughts and experiences during the beta test.
She actually still had that journal in her Bottomless Bag, but there was probably so way they could get the information from it.
The letter made sure to explain that they had edited so of the information, removing so and expanding on others, while having a professional writer brush it up into so kind of miniature short story.
It was then sold on the market for players to use as guides, all under the na of ’Wisdom of the Elders’.
Moving to her computer, Valerie searched up the term along with the gas na, and quickly clicked on the first result. Dozens of books were listed, all of them under psuedonym titles that were used to give them more mystery, and to make sure that the players didn’t just buy what was made by their favourite creator.
Although based on the content reviews, it was easy to find which was hers. ’Baroness of Blood’ was the title that she had been given.
Reviews were good, but she wasn’t the most popular. Perhaps because she spent more ti detail butchering techniques and details about the best way to kill things, rather than more ’ga’ focused details, such as grinding spots and the best way to get classes early on.
Those were the best reviewed and purchased ones, naturally. But the fact that they had been making early ga guides without even realising it, then got paid for it, was a fun idea. Although if she had known about it, then she would have absolutely put in more effort to get more money... I an, make it more welcoming to new players. Yes, that was definitely it.
Then again, she was happy with her class. So it wasn’t all bad. The even better news, however, was that the 6 months rent check was just what had been sold in the week leading up to the gas release.
That much in just a week! It was... amazing, and the letter detailed that she was going to be receiving more as ti went on. It really got to the point that she considered quitting her job, but she held off until the second one ca in. It would suck if the first week was all of her sales and no one was interested afterwards.
After a few more minutes flattering herself with reading reviews, Valerie quickly ordered so food for delivery since she now had the cash to spare, and cracked open a can of her company supplied D-fuel as she moved to the forums.
Much like her brother had done, although much later than he did, Valerie searched through the forums for all of the details that she was missing, and discovered a few odd things as well.
A lot of the posts were complaining about being stolen from at night, or losing equipnt in dungeon runs, since your body dropped on death inside the dungeon and then just spat you out at the entrance.
Their solution was to work in groups, and have soone trustworthy as the ’grave keeper’. Amongst the larger guilds, which were already starting to form and operate, there was a tacit understanding of retaliation, so not much happened with them. But with less connected players, a Grave keeper was necessary, to the point that others were charging for the service.
She read about the rerolling system, giving herself a little pat on the back for guessing that, and spent so ti learning about other races and classes, but not too in depth. Her main focus was the’Trail of the Gatekeeper’ which was a Dungeon that players had to pass to exit the starter town, instead of so kind of level cap.
Thankfully, there were so people that were streaming their runs. So once Jinu brought her the delivered food, Belladonna leaned back in her wheelchair and got comfy for her ’study session.’

Her phone let out a happy chirp as she received a ssage from her brother.
{Alright, I’m through. The Dungeon wasn’t too hard, Lucy did better than I thought she would. We’re at the city choice. Where did you head to? We’ll go there and et up.}
Valerie winced slightly as she read the ssage, which had a little icon next to it to show it was sent from in-ga. It was just typical of Jason to be ahead of her. Even with helping Lucy along, he had no doubt helped in power levelling both of them and two manned that dungeon.
She hesitated for a minute, before finally responding.
{Actually... I still haven’t done the dungeon. I didn’t even know it existed until an hour ago. I’m watching a stream on it now.}
{??_?? Seriously? Fine... We’ll pick the city, since I’m betting you don’t know anything about which to choose either, and you can ssage
when you get to this point. Hurry up, Lucy wants to see you.}
{I’m on it Boss! Although, you’ll need to wait until tomorrow. I have so new armour being made and it won’t be ready until then.}
{You’re unbelievable... (;一_一) Well, don’t bla us if we get so good equipnt while you are still bumming about in noob town.}
Tossing her phone back down, Valerie laughed softly and went back to scoffing down her noodles as she watched the strear going through the dungeon. By the ti she finally shut down her computer, it was close to four in the morning.
She had gotten distracted and lost track of ti.
Dragging herself to bed, Valerie flopped down and quickly succumbed to sleep, her mind already focusing on the next day’s adventures in the other world. So much so that she had a rather strange dream.
