After leaving the scene of the assassination attempt, Yu Sheng'an walked about 300 steps along the Fire Phoenix Avenue before coming to a hotel called "Ho of the Weary Traveller." He decided to check in.
"Clang!"
Yu Sheng'an instantly lost his calm expression as soon as the door closed.
He touched his chest with a lingering fear and snarled, "Fu*k. That fu*king hurts."
Actually, he didn't feel any pain when the ice blade went through his chest; he only felt a certain coldness.
The actual pain was felt during the few seconds when he drew life force from the contracted creature and repaired his body.
Fortunately, his consciousness had returned to his main body at that mont to turn on the Deity's Perspective to search for the assassin. Otherwise, he would have rolled on the ground in pain.
However, even that re instant of pain had almost crushed his will!
That world was too dangerous!
He had only made his first appearance for a few hours, and he was actually attacked twice!
He would already be long dead if he wasn't the Deity of Contract.
It was also fortunate that he had the Deity's Perspective which could locate the assassin quickly, to imdiately teleport a syngenor over to kill him.
Otherwise, not only would he have been tortured. The main problem would be that he would lose all respect in the eyes of the Queville Empire.
The forr didn't matter as it was just a Deity's Hologram. He could simply discard it if he couldn't withstand the pain and it would still be a bearable price.
But the latter, Yu Sheng'an couldn't accept.
It would be too embarrassing!
He was simply too weak in the final analysis.
At the mont he was able to share the contracted creature's life force and even power, through the power of contract, but he couldn't manipulate the creatures' attack and defense.
One could even say he was just a big boss who had unlimited lives but without any attack and defense skills, constantly resorting to summoning his minions.
He was really lousy!
"I'd better learn magic as soon as possible!" Yu Sheng'an heaved a breath of relief. That was the reason why he was willing to negotiate with the Queville Empire.
He wasn't keen on learning from the amateurs.
Don't even try saying that there were really exceptional amateurs.
If amateurs could surpass those who were formally educated, the ruling class of the Queville Empire would have already been overthrown.
However, who is trying to kill ?
Yu Sheng'an's gaze began to sparkle.
Deducing from Dandell's panicked attitude, they should have a traitor among them.
That's right. No matter where we go, there will be the radicals and conservatives. Being the country of magic, the Queville Empire has repelled all deities. So, it's very reasonable that soone would hate and refuse to collaborate with .
Of course, there is another possibility The Queville Empire has already been infiltrated by other deities and they are purposefully sowing discord.
Yu Sheng'an's eyes suddenly widened as he thought about that possibility.
He instinctively wanted to retrieve his hologram, but just as he was about to act on it, he changed his heart and decided not to.
His Deity Hologram had already been exposed. In this case, why not use it as bait to attract potential threats lurking in Willis City?
After deciding that, Yu Sheng'an changed his tattered clothes and lay down on the soft bed. He closed his eyes as he pondered. A few shadow fiends were summoned quietly and they lded into the darkness as they guarded their master's safety.
At the sa ti, Yu Sheng'an's consciousness returned to his main body. He took advantage of the surrounding users to open the Deity's Perspective and begin his investigation.
At that ti, Yu Sheng'an was feeling very fortunate to have hailed from the Blue Star with knowledge of "the Internet".
Otherwise, according to the usual deities' routine which only depended on the spread of content-type divine skill, where would he find so many pairs of "eyes" to provide him with a vision?
It was still better to create an internet platform!
Yu Sheng'an used his clone as the center point, slowly spreading the investigation outward. However, instead of locating the threats, he discovered a few users' behavior that made him feel exasperated.
Sixteen-year old Puth felt very lucky as of late.
Growing up in the slums with his mother, he had never dared to imagine that one day he, too, would be able to learn magic.
That was magic that could control the elents, like ice blades, lightning, light, darkness and others to even contend with the deities!
Hence, when the sneaky-looking hooligan told him that he could try out a ditation course for 10 Queville copper coinseven though he had seen plenty of scams beforehe still decided to go.
That day, in a damp basent that was full of youths, he t the noble mage!
He wore a purple robe with a solemn look. The hot fla was burning on his hand but he wasn't hurt at all.
That mysterious scene had awed Puth thoroughly!
He was learning hungrily.
The facts had proven that whatever those people were teaching was real!
He did manage to cultivate soul power. Although it was so weak that it could only move a leaf, it still made Puth shake with excitent.
The following magic courses began to get more and more expensive. Especially the practical magical engraving course, which cost 1 Queville silver coin per lesson.
But Puth still decided to persevere as he took all his savings to register for the lessons.
That evening, a group of youths and maidens from the slums walked into that old and shabby basent with excitent and yearning.
Before stepping into that basent, they had been apprentice blacksmiths, pickpockets, seasonal laborers, gang mbers
But after stepping inside, even the dishonest pickpockets quieted down, because they believed that they had beco mage apprentices!!!
They looked excitedly at the purple-robed man who was sitting on the elevated platform.
He sat on the wooden platform cross-legged and a glowing beam was flashing in front of him. If one stood at the sa level he was, they would discover that an illusory scroll was unfurled in front of him.
"I'm very glad that you guys could co here again. As you should know, spreading magic personally is illegal. But I couldn't bear seeing you people struggle in the dumps for the rest of your lives, so I ca here. This will be my last lesson and I hope you will treasure it!"
Sounds of reluctance bursted out in the basent.
The purple-robed mage wasn't fazed by this; he imdiately started his lecture.
Behind him, two n kept looking at the Internet's social page for ssages which could be sent by their mates who were on the lookout. They discussed in a quiet voice, "Do we really have to go? We finally got so many people to co, isn't it a pity to go now?"
"We have to go even if it is a pity! More and more people in the city know about the Internet Divine Skill now. We could be exposed by tomorrow if we continue to stay. We might as well go to the smaller cities, we could still make a killing over there.
"Furthermore, we're almost done squeezing these paupers dry. They don't have much left for us to squeeze!"
"That's right. Where should we go next? What do you think about Carter Harbour City?"
The purple-robed mage on the platform ended his lecture amidst the two n's quiet discussion.
Or, one should say that he had rely recited the content of the magical engraving's textbook.
"All right. That's all for today's lesson!"
"Huh?"
The youths broke out into a commotion.
They had expounded for a long ti when they were teaching about basic magical knowledge. But why did they end so early this day?
"Respected Mage, is the lesson over? I-I still don't understand what you said!"
" neither!"
"What is the aning of that six-degree angle?"
The group of youths panicked.
"Shut up!" the purple-robed mage shouted and a huge fla started to burn in his hand.
Intimidated by the fire's glow, all the youths closed their mouths with fear in their eyes.
"Magic is a knowledge comparable to the deities' power. How could it still be so noble if you could master it so easily?" the purple-robed mage rebuked angrily.
The group of youths looked at one another and felt that his reply seed to make so sense.
"It's not that I'm unwilling to teach you, but you have to figure out all this knowledge by yourselves. The checks in the city are getting more and more frequent so I have to go. However, I have written so grimoires and you could buy them if you have the need."
After he said that, the two n hiding behind the platform erged with many booklets in their hands.
"One silver coin each. They're limited, so first co, first served!" one of them shouted.
The youths' eyes lit up upon hearing that.
Those who could afford it, rushed forward and cried, "I'll have one!"
" too!"
"Don't squeeze!"
Those who were short on money could only watch with jealousy as the crowd rushed forward to buy the books.
Puth was one of them, but he soon ca up with a solution. He quickly asked the people around him, "I still have 10 copper coins, anyone wants to chip in? We can buy the book together and share it.
", , !"
"I only have three copper coins. Can I join you guys?"
The other youths' eyes lit up and moved closer.
They soon managed to gather one silver coin to buy a booklet. Puth's body started to shake in excitent the mont he opened the book in front of his mates and read its content.
"Okay lads, good luck to you. I have to go now! Rember, keep a low profile and don't let people know that you're mage apprentices," said the purple-robed mage while flashing smiles as he looked at the sold-out booklets.
Although the group of youths had completely emptied their pockets, they still felt sad to see him go.
Because they knew, compared to the money they had forked out, the magical knowledge that they were going to gain was a real priceless treasure!
"Instructor Raymond, we will rember you."
"Thank you, Instructor Raymond!"
The group of youths yelled.
The purple-robed mage laughed upon seeing that and then left via the back door with his companions.
The group of youths stood in situ for a long ti, unwilling to leave. They began to feel lancholic and many of them also teared up.
Maybe Maybe their sincerity had touched the purple-robed mage.
The mage and his people who had left via the back door suddenly ca back again.
"Instructor Raymond?"
"Instructor Raymond, you guys are not leaving?"
The youths shouted in surprise, but the surprise was frozen on their faces the very next second.
They looked at the back door and saw a creature with horns on its head and greenish-purple skin covered with evil magical engraving. It was ademon!
"Ahh!" the youths scread in fear and instinctively wanted to escape through the front door.
However, a young man slowly walked in through the front door and a hunchback winged demon followed after him!
