"Is everything okay?" Chan asks in that ever-gentle voice of his and I take a cautionary step backwards.

He suddenly disappeared last night, after we t Sehwa...now Sehwa is dead.

’He murdered Sehwa’ one part of my mind screams

’If he was capable of murdering her, he wouldn’t have threatened her with calling the security on her at the mall’ another part of my mind says calmly.

My heart rate increases, and my body suddenly is filled with a cold sensation.

Fear.

"Where were you last night?" I ask him carefully, holding my phone away from my ear while Yunah’s sobs get louder.

"?" he asks with confusion, pointing at his chest like I am asking a strange question.

I bare my teeth and growl at him.

"Where were you last night?" I ask again, punctuating every word with a hard pause.

"Ah, I didn’t bring you the matcha I promised" he says and rubs at his neck, "sorry, I got carried away at work" he says.

"Lies" I say and his brows furrow, "what is going on...w-why would I lie?" he asks, his voice coming out weak like he’s hurt.

"Maybe because you murdered Sehwa" I say.

"What did you say?" he asks , his face filled with shock.

"Don’t lie you-" I start and the front door opens.

I pause my argunt to look at the door.

"Sir, a call from the hospital" the man who walks in says, holding out a phone.

"Wait a minute" Chan says to before taking the phone and lifting it to his ear.

He pulls it back to put it on loud speaker, his eyes holding mine like he’s trying to pass a ssage.

"Yes, Doctor Chan on the line" he says and the person on the other end sighs.

"Doctor, you need to return to the hospital this night again, the patient you attend to last night is asking for you specifically" the person says.

Oh.

My hands drop to my side and my eyes drop to the floor.

Oh.

"Is she stable?" he asks, I lift my eyes briefly to finding his eyes still on my face.

"Yes, the bleeding stopped" the person says and Chan hums.

"I told her uncle Chan is coming again, and she smiled for the first ti all day" the man on the other end chuckles and Chan turns his back.

"I will be there tonight" he says softly and ends the call.

The man who brought in the phone takes it back and leaves with a bow.

The room is silent for a few seconds.

My sister’s sob from the still connected phone call makes wince.

I lift the phone again to my ear.

"Baby" I call softly, she doesn’t respond but I know she can hear .

"Baby, I will be there soon, please don’t cry" I say and she responds with a ’hm’

I end the call and keep my eyes on the floor.

"I’m sorry" I say with a wince.

"I’m a doctor" he says softly as if he’s breathing the words.

"I heal" he says again.

"I give life, not take it" he says and I flinch, not because he’s harsh but because I made that conclusion just from knowing what he is.

I just did what everyone else has done to all my life.

"I’m sorry...I- sorry" I confess and he sighs, "it’s okay, you are not a bad person" he says and pulls the towel off his neck.

He clears his throat.

"Um...you said you will see your sister" he says and guilt floods my heart.

He has control of , he can decide to say no, he can choose...

"I can take you" he says and my head snaps up.

What?

He looks at the watch on his wrist before he continues, "would you like to go this morning or...?" he says.

"This morning" I say quickly and he nods.

"You need to eat first" he says and nudges his chin towards the dinner table.

There is already breakfast.

"I made you breakfast, nutrition pack food for..." he says and trails off as I keep looking at him with awe.

I just accused him of murder and he’s still being this...nice.

"The way you’re looking at ..." he says and scratches the back of his neck again, a habit he has, I take note of his ears.

The uniquely shaped shells are red again.

How did I ever think of him as murderer? If anything, I should be glad that the evil is defeated.

I shake my head and go to the table to eat, the quicker I’m done, the quicker I can go to my sister.

"I hope you like these; it’s been a while since I cooked" he says and gestures to the al, rice and seaweed soup.

"Thank you" I mutter and take the first few scoops and push it away.

It’s delicious but my sister needs .

"Five spoons?" Chan asks.

"I need to go now, my s-"

"Your baby needs you as much as your sister does" he says calmly and I stare at the delicious al in front of .

"Please, eat more...you will be facing a lot of negative energies, you need your strength" he explains and moves the food towards .

With a sigh, I pick up the spoon and continue the al.

Chan leaves for a while and returns with clothes for to wear.

"Since we couldn’t get your clothes, you’ll wear these...I scented them" he says and holds them up.

"Why did you scent them?" I ask him with my eyes still on the clothes.

"A pup needs a stable scent...I know you wouldn’t be able to have any of that today" he says and my shoulders falls.

My baby, I need to be more careful now.

"Okay" I say quietly before I resu eating.

Yunah’s POV

The maid who scread...her scream hadn’t been strong enough to describe the horror on the gate.

’My mate’ my oga whines in pain as I stare up at the body hanging on the body.

I am frozen.

I should also scream but my brain isn’t functioning.

Her blood pools at the foot of the gate and her body is bloated from hanging there for god knows how long.

"Yunah! Get away from there" my mom’s voice snaps out of my temporary freeze.

’My mate’ my oga repeats and howls.

I am terrified.

I have never seen sothing like this before, but it feels like I have...

"Young lady..." my personal maid calls and I look at her.

Sothing is wrong with ...my heart is slowly starting to fill with dread.

A delayed response to sothing that should send running.

"Unnie..." I say to my maid, and she wraps her arms around to turn away from the grotesque sight.

"Unnie..." I say again as my breath catches in my throat.

I was going to poison her.

That was my plan, I was going to poison her for ruining and my brother’s life.

I planned it but I was never going to carry it out, no one deserves death.

A broken sob slips past my lips.

Who would have done sothing like this to her?

"Sehwa unnie" I cry out as pain grips my heart so tight that I fall to the floor.

"Yunah..." my mother says as she rushes over to hug .

I shake my head as it becos even clearer, how did I ever plan to murder soone?

Now she’s dead.

"Sehwa unnie" I cry and mom orders the maids to carry into the ho.

I keep crying even as two of my beta unnies carry into the mansion by supporting my weight.

They take into my room and lay on my bed, I turn to my side to hug myself.

My wolf is heartbroken at the loss of her mate.

My heart is broken at the cruel thoughts I had.

"Arghhh" I scream as pain rips through my body, stealing the air in my lungs.

"What is wrong?" my mom asks in fear.

"I want my oppa!" I sob as another wave of pain travels through my body.

"GET MY PHONE" she yells and I shake my head, reaching out for my own phone.

"Mine" I say and soone places the device in my hand.

I call the new number he had called with yesterday evening and he picks up.

Talking with the oga my own oga recognizes as head luna eases a bit.

I stay on my side, trying my best to keep the pain from tearing apart inside out.

It burns.

The hurt of an oga mourning a mate that has only brought pain burns.

Another sob racks my body, and I fold in on myself.

The door opens and I sit up imdiately as the sll of jasmine and milk reaches .

"Oppa" I cry out and he rushes over to , engulfing in a hug.

My oga howl, welcoming the comfort of our head oga.

"Oppa, my heart won’t stop aching" I cry into his neck.

"I know" he says softly, keeping held against his body.

"It’s okay" he says, I turn my head a I hear the sound of feet shuffling.

"YOU!" I gasp as I take in the sight of the man in the room with us.
