Keru walked there for a while and finally decided to take the risk of making a call.
He was now in the headquarters military district, where all outgoing signals could be captured.
Although their calls were encrypted and others couldn’t capture what was said, the signal source could still be traced.
The phone rang twice, and soone on the other end picked up.
"Why are you calling now?" said the person on the other side; it was the rebel leader, Ryan.
"Have you found the spy I ntioned last ti?" Keru whispered.
After all, this was a dangerous matter, and even though he was in his own room, he was cautious to keep his voice as low as possible.
"We’ve found him. Xiao Wu was the spy, and he’s been dealt with," Ryan said.
"I suspect you all have been exposed," Keru said.
"Impossible," Ryan asserted, "I’ve investigated all of Xiao Wu’s communication devices through various channels, and he never left here."
"Could you have caught the wrong person?" Keru asked.
Ryan frowned, sat on the sofa, thought for a mont, and then asked, "Have you discovered sothing?"
Keru recounted what happened at the eting and then said, "I’m not sure if Rumus is boasting, but sothing feels off."
"I’ll investigate this matter thoroughly, don’t worry," Ryan said.
"Be careful," Keru said.
The two of them ended the call hastily. Keru felt uneasy and then walked outside.
He stood in front of Rumus’s room and knocked, but there was no response from inside.
"Looking for ?" Rumus said with a grin as he ca over from afar.
"Just passing by, thought I’d take a look," Keru smiled and said.
Rumus opened the room, and the two entered, exchanging pleasantries.
"Weren’t you supposed to go back? Why did you co back again?" Keru asked casually.
"There was nothing much to do after going back, and here I can listen to everyone’s thoughts," Rumus said.
"Earlier, you ntioned having the rebel information. Is it true? How did you manage it?" Keru asked curiously.
"Ah..." Rumus sighed and shook his head, "To be honest with you, I was bluffing. They’re too much."
Keru kept his eyes on Rumus’s expression, seeing him visibly irritated.
"Yeah, they underestimate us, it’s really frustrating to deal with them," Keru responded in agreent.
The two lanted for a while, and Keru, leaning on the sofa, said, "I’m not sure what the future holds. The rebels have been preparing for years; it won’t be simple."
"You seem to lack confidence in our team," Rumus remarked in so surprise.
"I have plenty of confidence, but we should also plan for our future," Keru said inadvertently.
He glanced at Rumus, then continued, "If— and I’m just saying if— we fail and the rebels rise, what will you do then?"
Rumus was shocked, not expecting Keru to think that way.
"I don’t know, haven’t thought of it," Rumus said, "What would you choose?"
Keru suddenly laughed, very joyfully, and then said, "Isn’t it obvious? I’d rather die on the battlefield, serving my nation after all the preparation, than surrender."
Keru’s words were sincere and persuasive.
Rumus nodded sowhat blankly, and the two sat silently for a bit, drinking water.
"If I find out where they are, I’ll personally lead a team and wipe them out," Keru said fiercely.
"Yeah, that’s what I think too," Rumus said.
Keru sat there a while longer before getting up to leave.
Outside, his brow furrowed even deeper. Earlier, he was just trying to test Rumus, but this guy was a veteran and couldn’t be baited.
Rumus sat in the room, frowning deeply as well. Keru’s overly friendly deanor made him uneasy.
If the other party wasn’t after him romantically, he surely had so agenda.
Rumus mainly thought Keru was either seeking credit or being particularly aggressive and ambitious.
Everyone wants to stand out and excel among the commanders, which is why they keep expressing their views at conferences.
But Rumus just wanted to eliminate the rebels quickly; he wasn’t looking to take credit.
If he wasn’t considering Xiang Yu’s safety, he would have already disclosed all he had at the eting.
On Ryan’s side, he called over all the team mbers responsible for investigating Xiao Wu, a total of five people.
"Tell about the whole investigation process," Ryan said, sitting on the sofa.
One person stepped forward and said, "We found that Xiao Wu would visit the sa place every two weeks and et the sa person."
"We investigated that person. Her husband is a high-ranking official," another person said.
"Moreover, we checked Xiao Wu’s communication records; he frequently called that person secretly at night."
"There’s another suspicious point: Xiao Wu was secretly recruiting people and was inquiring about the captain of the first brigade."
"Bring that woman to ," Ryan said decisively.
This was no minor matter, and he needed to get to the bottom of it. Initially, it was easy to investigate, but Xiao Wu was shot by Xiang Yu.
"Stop, call the captain of the first brigade over," Ryan said.
The five people left, and shortly after, the captain of the first brigade ca in and stood respectfully.
"What’s your relationship with Xiao Wu?" Ryan asked directly.
The man frowned and then shook his head, "Boss, you’re talking about the traitor, right?"
Ryan nodded. He always felt that Xiao Wu died unjustly.
"We have no relationship; I never had contact with him before. Why are you asking this?"
"Nothing, you can go," Ryan said curtly.
He could tell the first brigade captain wasn’t lying; he really had no relationship with Xiao Wu.
The man frowned, scratched his head, and then left.
Ryan sighed, leaning on the sofa; he wasn’t anxious. They were already in a position of strength, and even if they were discovered, they had nothing to fear.
Their battle with **** was about to comnce, and he worried that a spy in his midst might pose future risks.
On the **** side, the Commander was in his room making a call, attempting to reassure his superiors.
"Regardless of the situation, you must overco difficulties to complete this; it’s a political task and the ultimate goal for national stability. Do you understand?" said the person on the other end.
The Commander nodded and said, "Rest assured, sir, if this information is accurate, I will seize the opportunity and not disappoint expectations."
"I believe in you," said the other person before hanging up the call.
The Commander put down his phone, stood up, and called over his security officer.
"Notify everyone, there’s a eting now," the Commander said enthusiastically...
