Li Bingbing didn’t expect the issue with Ivan, she stood there dumbfounded for a while before looking at Xiang Yu and saying, "Now that Ivan’s gone, what will happen to our rcenary group?"
"Tch," Tie Zhuzi scoffed from the side, "Does the world stop turning without him? You can rest assured, as long as I’m here, I can train them."
The crowd: "..."
"What’s with those expressions? You don’t believe ?" Tie Zhuzi glared with big eyes.
The others just smiled without saying anything.
At this mont, Li Bingbing turned to Xiang Yu and said, "You’re not going to take on all the training duties, are you?"
Xiang Yu shook his head and said, "No."
He then called Wu Jing over. With Wu Jing here, these people would surely be trained into a steel-clad team.
As they were chatting, Xiang Yu’s phone suddenly rang—it was Cheng Wulan calling.
"Co to imdiately," Cheng Wulan’s voice sounded urgent.
After hanging up, Xiang Yu headed towards Cheng Wulan’s villa, sensing that sothing was about to happen.
Arriving at the villa, Cheng Wulan was pacing in the hall. Seeing Xiang Yu, she hurried over and said, "Is it possible sothing’s happened?"
Xiang Yu looked at her confusedly and asked, "Who has sothing happened to? What’s going on?"
Cheng Wulan hastily responded, "I just called her, and her phone is still off."
Xiang Yu, noticing Cheng Wulan’s anxious deanor, said, "Sit down and tell slowly, what’s going on exactly?"
Cheng Wulan wasn’t sure why she had called Xiang Yu over. He was the head of the Orchid Group and also now the rcenary group’s leader. Previously, she handled everything herself.
Now that she had called Xiang Yu over for advice, it seed right, hoping he could provide so guidance.
"Yesterday, I called her, but her phone was off, and it’s still off now—that’s not normal," Cheng Wulan said.
Xiang Yu was still puzzled about who she was talking about.
Since she didn’t clarify, Xiang Yu remained silent, just watching Cheng Wulan quietly.
After mumbling for a while, Cheng Wulan finally asked, "What do you think I should do?"
"Go over and see what’s going on?" Xiang Yu suggested simply.
"Yes, let’s go see. Co on, let’s go now," Cheng Wulan said, heading for the door.
Upon reaching the door, she turned to Xiang Yu and said, "Co with ."
Xiang Yu nodded in agreent. Although he didn’t know who they were going to see, it was evident this person was important to Cheng Wulan.
Moreover, her asking him to accompany her at this ti also showed her trust in him.
Cheng Wulan drove, quickly heading into the distance.
Xiang Yu sat in the passenger seat, not saying a word, deep in thought, wondering if the person they were going to see was the very one he had been searching for.
If it was her, how should he face her upon eting again?
Would she shoot him down in an instant?
Xiang Yu’s mind was in turmoil, and his left chest thumped noticeably. It was clear that he was sowhat nervous.
This feeling hadn’t surfaced in a long ti. For so long, his heart felt as if it was dead; he couldn’t feel any distinct heartbeat.
At so point, Cheng Wulan turned her head to look at Xiang Yu.
"What are you nervous about?" Cheng Wulan asked in puzzlent.
She, too, gradually cald down, pondering why her call wasn’t getting through.
"Am I nervous?" Xiang Yu chuckled self-deprecatingly.
Not knowing Xiang Yu’s background, Cheng Wulan didn’t press further, asking instead, "How’s your wound? Is it getting better?"
"It’s nothing serious, just a flesh wound," Xiang Yu replied nonchalantly.
Such wounds didn’t an much to him. After changing clothes, they were easily concealed.
"You’re probably curious about my background, aren’t you?" Cheng Wulan sighed as she drove.
Xiang Yu didn’t know what to say. In truth, he wasn’t curious about Cheng Wulan’s background at all.
His primary purpose here was to find Zhong Min, and the person before him was just a step in that process.
But to cooperate with the conversation, Xiang Yu nodded and asked, "How did you beco the leader of the Orchid Group?"
Cheng Wulan wasn’t surprised, as if she knew Xiang Yu would ask that.
"When I was eight, my family brought here. Eventually, my mother t an untily demise. To seek justice for her, my father ventured into the underworld," Cheng Wulan recounted, a look of pain on her face.
It seed that part of her history was sothing she couldn’t bear to revisit.
"If you don’t want to talk about it, you don’t have to," Xiang Yu interjected directly, not wanting to pry open her wounds.
But Cheng Wulan didn’t heed him and began recounting her past.
She had never shared these things with anyone before, not even Zhong Min.
"My father was forced onto this path. Eventually, he founded the Orchid Group to avenge my mother, but a few years ago, he passed away due to illness," said Cheng Wulan, her eyes red as tears threatened to fall.
"Since I took over the Orchid Group, it has been in decline. I know I’m not suited for this, but my father founded it with his own hands. I can’t let it fall apart in mine," Cheng Wulan said.
After revealing these things, she seed much lighter. Having kept so much bottled up inside with no one to confide in, she was nearly driven insane.
She could only weep in secret at night, but in the dayti, she maintained her cold, commanding presence.
She was the leader and couldn’t appear weak in front of her brothers.
But she was just a weak woman, forcing herself to train daily, in martial arts, now seeing so progress.
"I wish there was soone who could walk with and stay by my side," Cheng Wulan said softly.
She then turned to look at Xiang Yu, her eyes filled with unspeakable longing.
Xiang Yu knew well what she ant, but he was here on a mission and couldn’t linger too long.
He felt sympathy for Cheng Wulan. It truly wasn’t easy for a woman to survive in such an environnt.
She should study, seek a stable job, and find soone who treated her well, that’s what a woman’s life should be like.
"Slow down, watch ahead," Xiang Yu suddenly said.
His words interrupted the atmosphere, bringing Cheng Wulan back from her fantasy with a hint of disappointnt.
Xiang Yu remained oblivious, acting as if he had no clue about Cheng Wulan’s hints.
"We’re headed to a rcenary group’s branch, where the head is a good friend of mine. I call her daily, but haven’t been able to reach her these past couple of days, so I’m worried sothing’s happened to her," Cheng Wulan explained, returning to reality.
Xiang Yu nodded again, not asking further. Soon, he’d know if that head was Zhong Min...
