Chapter 86 - Unforgettable mory
“How could that be?” Wang Hao feigned a look of utter disbelief.
“Co on, cut it out,” Ye Hao interjected, “It's common knowledge. There's no need for you to act like you've been duped.”
Wang Hao was mortified.
“Miss Leng, this al is on ,” Ye Hao offered, turning to Leng Xue with a smile.
“Well, I won't hold back then,” Leng Xue responded, proceeding to order two more dishes.
Wang Hao squird uncomfortably in his seat.
Yet, if he left at this mont, any chance of a relationship with Leng Xue would be lost.
So, Wang Hao had no choice but to stay put.
“Ye Hao, when do you plan on going back to school?”
“Tomorrow.”
“You know, if you keep skipping classes, you might fail.”
Ye Hao shook his head gently, “Not going to happen.”
“That confident, huh?”
“I never forget what I read.”
“Is that so?” Leng Xue gave Ye Hao a skeptical glance.
“I've morized all four volus of the Encyclopedia of Herbs,” Ye Hao claid, grinning.
“Don't be ridiculous.” The Encyclopedia of Herbs was notoriously difficult to commit to mory.
Even Leng Xue, with her years of teaching experience, wouldn't claim to have morized all four volus.
“Why don't you quiz then?”
“Fine, tell about the effects of herbaceous peony.”
After a brief pause, Ye Hao replied, “Herbaceous peony can treat a variety of symptoms, such as abdominal pain, bone pain, swelling from beriberi, thirst, unstoppable nosebleeds, coughing up blood, continuous nstrual bleeding, persistent leukorrhea, cuts, swollen tongue, and throat obstructions.”
“And if a patient is suffering from bleeding in the lower abdon, how would a doctor treat it?”
“Take one or two taels of herbaceous peony and six taels of cypress leaves, lightly fry them, then add a liter of water and boil it down to make a dicine. Alternatively, grind the two aforentioned herbs into a fine powder and drink it twice daily.”
Surprise flickered in Leng Xue's eyes before she asked another question, “What are the other nas for licorice?”
“Sweet grass, Ural licorice, and sweet root.”
“And how would you prepare Ligusticum wallichii as a dicine?”
“First, remove any dirt and sand, then sun-dry and roast it until dry, and finally remove the fine roots.”
“Which patients should avoid taking herbaceous peony?”
“Those who are frail and anemic should avoid it. Pregnant won should use it with caution.”
A look of disbelief slowly took shape in Leng Xue's eyes.
After all, Leng Xue was the subject's teacher. She knew the Encyclopedia of Herb better than any other teacher and was well aware that Ye Hao's answers were spot-on.
She had randomly selected content from the four volus of the Encyclopedia of Herb to test Ye Hao. Yet, no matter what she asked, Ye Hao could always provide an imdiate response.
After nearly a hundred questions, Leng Xue stopped asking.
Unless Ye Hao had mastered the entire Encyclopedia of Herb, there was no way he could have answered those questions.
“How did you manage that?”
“Didn't I ntion it before?”
“I still find it hard to believe.” Mulling it over, Leng Xue pulled out her phone and brought up an academic paper she had read the night before, asking, “How long would you need to morize this article?”
Ye Hao glanced at it and noticed the article was only two thousand words long. He replied, “Two minutes.”
And with that, Ye Hao began to read.
His reading speed was increasing rapidly. He finished well before two minutes had passed.
“Done,” Ye Hao said, handing his phone to Leng Xue.
“You've morized it?”
“Yes.”
“Go ahead and recite it,” Leng Xue prompted, phone in hand.
Ye Hao began reciting the academic paper from the first word, rapidly and clearly. He finished the recitation in under two minutes.
Leng Xue's hands trembled as she held the phone. It took her a mont to regain her composure.
“So there really are people with eidetic mory.”
“That's because you're not familiar with it,” Ye Hao retorted as he stood up to pour red wine for Leng Xue and Tang Pianpian.
“Who are you saying is unfamiliar?” Leng Xue challenged, but she quickly realized that Ye Hao wasn't intimidated by her.
“I was referring to myself.” Ye Hao swirled the wine in the crystal glass, watching it ripple.
“See! The wine doesn't settle quickly.”
Upon hearing this, Wang Hao was tempted to call Ye Hao a hick.
She imdiately recalled Ye Hao's six-million-dollar watch and promptly closed her mouth.
Ye Hao didn't offer to pour wine for Wang Hao, but Wang Hao filled his own glass to the brim.
“Country bumpkin, nobody fills a goblet with that much red wine,” Ye Hao said with an eye roll.
Wang Hao had intended for Ye Hao to drink more red wine and embarrass himself, but he forgot that the etiquette for drinking red wine differed from that of beer or other spirits.
Wang Hao's face turned beet red.
That was just Ye Hao's way. He wouldn't bother anyone who didn't provoke him, but if provoked, he was quick to retaliate with humiliation.
Around 9:20, Ye Hao glanced at his watch and handed a gold card to the waiter, saying, “Here, take this.”
As per the bank's policy, having over 300,000 yuan in a personal account qualified one for VIP status and a gold card.
The bank card Tang Pianpian gave to Ye Hao had a million yuan in it.
The dinner had cost 610,000 yuan.
To Ye Hao, it was no big deal.
After all, money was ant to be spent.
Of the two bottles of red wine, only one was opened; Tang Pianpian took the other ho.
“Miss Leng, where are you headed?” Ye Hao inquired, much to Wang Hao's chagrin, who thought he should be the one to ask.
“I have two movie tickets,” Wang Hao started, but Leng Xue turned to Ye Hao and asked, “Where are you going?”
“I'm off to Erald Garden.”
“Why would you go to Erald Garden so late at night?”
“That's none of your concern.”
“No, as your teacher, I'm responsible for your safety,” Leng Xue insisted with feigned concern.
“How about you join ?” Ye Hao suggested, picking up on the subtext of Leng Xue's words.
She was intentionally clinging to him, likely to escape Wang Hao's company.
“Let's go,” Leng Xue agreed, then turned to Wang Hao and apologized, “I'm sorry, but I need to make a trip to Erald Garden.”
Erald Garden was just a small grove. What could they possibly do there?
Wang Hao, concerned, quickly interjected, “Erald Garden isn't safe at night. I'll accompany you.”
“No need.”
“I'm not busy anyway.” Wang Hao was determined to win over Leng Xue, which ant he couldn't allow Ye Hao and Leng Xue any ti alone.
But once they stepped outside, Wang Hao realized he might have been overthinking things.
Ye Hao had gotten into Tang Pianpian's BMW MINI.
This ant that Ye Hao was heading to Erald Garden with Tang Pianpian.
However, since Wang Hao had resolved to follow them, there was no way he would back down now.
Leng Xue had turned down Wang Hao's offer and chose to ride with Tang Pianpian instead.
“Pianpian, when did you get this car?”
“I just bought it.”
A flicker of surprise crossed Leng Xue's eyes.
She had taken an interest in Tang Pianpian before.
Leng Xue recalled that Tang Pianpian ca from a modest background, one that wouldn't typically afford such a car.
Could it be that Tang Pianpian was being supported by Ye Hao?
With this thought, Leng Xue's gaze shifted to Ye Hao.
