The two policen looked in the direction of the sound, and to their surprise, found a pair of handcuffs on the ground. Instinctively, they patted themselves down, and one of them was instantly bewildered.

What the heck? How did my handcuffs fall off? And... how could they be open? I clearly had them locked on my belt! My belt wasn't even undone!

While this guy was puzzled beyond belief, he noticed Chu Ge giving him a look, subtly glancing at the handcuffs on the floor and then at his own hands, as if saying, "Look here, look here, cuff quick, cuff ."

This ti, neither of the policen doubted it anymore. Although they weren't sure what Chu Ge's reason was, it was obvious that Chu Ge had done it deliberately, with the aim of getting them to arrest him.

However, they still had a hard-to-shake feeling of disbelief in their hearts. The handcuffs were certainly removed by Chu Ge on purpose, but how did he manage to do it without them noticing?

One policeman picked up the handcuffs from the ground, exchanged a few pleasantries, and Chu Ge, despite appearing disgruntled, actually cooperated by putting on the handcuffs.

The other policeman called Lin Gaoze to explain the situation at the scene. Lin Gaoze's instruction was for them to stay put and wait, as he would co over shortly.

In Ward 413, Jin Yingji had already passed out on the ground in pain, Han Zhe was frowning silently, Chu Ge stood by the door with handcuffs on, and the two policen exchanged glances, unsure of what to say.

Tap, tap, tap...

A rush of footsteps ca from the hallway, soon bringing a group of tense-looking dical staff to the door, breaking the brief silence.

In addition to the doctors and nurses, Chu Ge also saw a familiar face and another face that left quite an impression on him.

One was a small old man with partly white hair, wearing glasses and a white coat, looking like a scholarly old man. This was none other than Hu Tai'en, the orthopedic director and vice president of the hospital.

The other was also an elderly man, around sixty years old, dressed in a well-tailored Zhongshan suit, with thick, neatly grood hair, looking kind and amiable. He walked with a brisk pace, exuding vigor and energy; clearly, he was in good health.

Chu Ge didn't know this man, only having t him once before. Last ti, because of the Shangjian Restaurant incident, when he brought a custor to this hospital for a check-up, he saw this old man walking with Hu Tai'en, and didn't expect to encounter them again this ti.

Hu Tai'en ca to the door, glanced inside, and was taken aback, asking in astonishnt, "Officer, I am the vice president here. May I ask... what's going on here?"

While the question was directed at the police at the door, Hu Tai'en's gaze was fixated on Chu Ge, appearing more nervous than the other doctors and nurses.

Under Hu Tai'en's scrutiny, Chu Ge was truly puzzled. Why did this Dean Hu seem especially concerned about him?

Why is that? Could it be... his surna is Hu, not Chu, and he's the long-lost grandson of Vice Director Hu? Otherwise, why would Dean Hu show more concern and care every ti he sees him?

Chu Ge amusingly entertained these wild thoughts until he suddenly felt as if soone was scrutinizing him. The source of this gaze was from the direction of the elderly man with Hu Tai'en.

Chu Ge glanced sideways, and found that the old man had already shifted his gaze, looking calm, but Chu Ge didn't doubt his feelings at all. Just a mont ago, the old man was indeed observing him, and there seed to be so deeper aning in that fleeting look.

Who is this old man? It seed he noticed last ti as well. This is really peculiar...

On the other side, the two policen at the door did not offer any explanation to Hu Tai'en, only stating that the hospital should quickly examine and treat Jin Yingji. As the saying goes, "the more you say, the more you lose," and right now, other than Lin Gaoze, they didn't want to talk to anyone about this matter.

At this impasse with the policen, Hu Tai'en was visibly conflicted, clearly wanting to speak with Chu Ge but reluctant due to the presence of the policen.

Seeing Hu Tai'en's dilemma, the old man finally spoke up.

"Xiao Chu, is there so sort of misunderstanding between you and these two officers?"

The two policen frowned. They had already made it clear that the hospital only needed to treat Jin Yingji's injuries, yet this old man they didn't know suddenly involved himself.

However, because this old man exuded an extraordinary deanor and called Chu Ge "Xiao Chu," the policen remained silent for the mont, deciding to assess the situation before reacting.

At that mont, the most surprised person was undoubtedly Chu Ge. He'd only t the old man for the second ti, and they'd never even spoken before. Why was this elder acting so familiar with him? Moreover, he seed to be standing up for him?

Despite his confusion, the old man appeared quite amiable, so Chu Ge didn't ignore him, smiled slightly, and shook his head, saying, "Uh, it's not a misunderstanding, no need to trouble you, sir."

The old man nodded slightly, said nothing more, took another look at Chu Ge, then called Hu Tai'en with a conflicted expression, and left the doorway of Ward 413.

Watching the backs of the old man and Hu Tai'en disappear at the door, Chu Ge found himself increasingly baffled.

After a while, Lin Gaoze arrived at the ward. Seeing their superior, the two policen finally felt a sense of relief. They had no idea what Chu Ge was up to, and this waiting period was truly unbearable for them.

Even though Lin Gaoze already knew Chu Ge's plans, he kept a serious face to keep up appearances, asked about the situation, and then took Chu Ge out of the hospital, putting him in the police car he had driven over.

After driving a short distance, Lin Gaoze helped Chu Ge remove the handcuffs and smiled helplessly, "Seeing the state of my two brothers, you must have hit hard earlier, huh?"

Chu Ge stretched lazily, moved his arms, and grinned, "Not that hard, just crippled one of Jin Yingji's legs and broke a few bones, that's all."

Lin Gaoze twitched his eye corners and rolled his eyes at Chu Ge, "Damn, and you call that not hard? So, is it only hard if soone gets beaten to death? You actually went at it in front of those two brothers of mine? They must have been stunned at the ti, right?"

Chu Ge shrugged, "If I didn't exert myself a bit, just gave a light beating, I wouldn't have made it into the detention center! Anyway, he's not a good person, not beating him to his last breath is already doing him a favor."

Lin Gaoze rubbed his forehead, "How did I end up knowing you? With all your daily antics, you're bound to give a heart attack one day."

"Cut it out, cut it out, what's all this about giving you a heart attack? I'm not into that."

"Screw you!"

"Haha, just kidding. You're the captain of the criminal investigation team, how can you go around cursing like that?"

Lin Gaoze, both annoyed and amused, ignored Chu Ge's jibe, and since there was still so way to go, Chu Ge couldn't help but tease him again.

"Besides, if you really got a heart attack, it would be from all the gifts you take after your promotion, nothing to do with ."

"Screw you again! Talking like that is such a buzzkill." This ti Lin Gaoze was truly a bit upset, "In your mind, am I that type of person?"

Chu Ge laughed and asked, "Then what type of person are you?"

"I do like money, damn it, who doesn't like money? But honestly, small amounts here and there are fine, I don't need to hoard money to the point of life and death."

Lin Gaoze lit a cigarette, took a puff, turned, and gave Chu Ge a sincere smile.

"Believe it or not, compared to money, I love the process of solving cases and getting promoted more. This feeling of accomplishnt is amazing. If I could do more good and practical things for the people, that would be even better. And if I could hear them speak well of when I'm not wearing this uniform, I'd be over the moon."

Seeing Lin Gaoze's face full of hopeful smiles, Chu Ge also genuinely smiled, "No wonder you and Mu Lingshan, that Tiger Girl, get along so well. She's got herself a great boss, huh."

Lin Gaoze laughed, "Hearing you praise for once is really sothing!"

"By the way, do you know the biggest difference between you and Mu Lingshan?"

"What?"

"You're way more cunning than her, and your words sound nicer too. If she were to say what you just did, she'd definitely go like this, let imitate her."

As he spoke, Chu Ge cleared his throat, made a face full of surprise, disdain, and scorn, snorted through his nose, and smirked, "Wow, this is really sothing! A dog's mouth can actually spit out ivory?"

"Hahahahaha…" Watching Chu Ge mimic Mu Lingshan, Lin Gaoze burst into laughter, "Really? She's never talked like that with us before. This must be your special treatnt, right?"

"Of course it's real. When she's with , her mouth is really vicious."

"That's because you two have sothing going on? Honestly, I've always been too embarrassed to ask before. What's really going on between you two?"

Before, even if Lin Gaoze were curious, he definitely wouldn't have asked this directly, but after working with Chu Ge a few tis, he's co to understand him better, and he believes they can truly be considered friends now.

Lin Gaoze is good at nurturing relationships; otherwise, he wouldn't have such great rapport, nor would he have the respect of so many brothers under him. He believes that sharing a bit of personal secrets is crucial for deepening friendships.

Additionally, Lin Gaoze has noticed that despite Chu Ge's cunning and occasionally wild ideas, he prefers interacting with genuine people.

Like Bao Zhanhai beside Chen Jue, or that Song Baijia from Shangjian Restaurant.
